^Yer more in the position of sharing ideas to the editors of this forum since yer not "impressed" with the favor they did for us. I'm content with the new theme so I don't have any ideas about improving it nor do I care to have. My eyes feel better looking at it now and that's all I care about and I'm sure most would agree. Just let it go and be grateful...

I definitely prefer the new theme! Hopefully they'll implement it on the mobile theme as well once they're happy with the beta.

Not high maintenance to expect a better version of dark theme after people have complained to em for months to get on it. If only they had some of your head knowledge, things could have been perfect.

I don't mind the default white theme either.

 

I don't understand how some of you guys survive on the Internet because most forums and websites have white backgrounds.

I have a ton of userstyles to combat this on most of the sites I frequent.  I make my own css tweaks where I have to but I'm not great at it so I've been using the color that site extension for firefox, lately.  Somewhere I need to tweak a setting though because it doesn't always save my changes. 

 

There is peer reviewed scientific research that shows that stark white with black text can cause eye strain.  Many recommend changing document backgrounds in various office programs to an off white to help counter this.  I assume that as with most medical type things, some of us just have a higher tendency towards it than others do.  Also, I'm old (by interwebz standards apparently, anyway).
