The loyalty system still has not been revealed or fleshed out.

We know through snipets of footage that you do not gain loyalty through basic conversation paths (No -6 or +8's seen in the leaked footage) That might be different for important choices, but then does anything you say to your squad mates mean nothing until this climactic event?

There is no gift system, or anything of the equivelency. I dare not watch to much of the leaked goodness. Could someone please tell me how this damn system works?

From various interviews, I gather the idea is to talk to your squad mates enough for them to tell you about a personal sidequest, and once you complete that sidequest with them/for them you will earn their loyalty. Doesn't seem to be based on a point system per say, but there's definitely some point counting going on in the background since I'm assuming if you say stuff like "i don't care about that, garrus, focus on the mission" you will probably end up not getting his sidequest or gaining his loyalty.

same as in ME1 I gather

you talk to them, get them to open up, do a personal quest for them (we already know about Garrus' and SuZe's) and you gained their trust (an achievement will pop up too the first time)

I doubt if there was a "loyalty" meter bioware would not let you monitor it

tho we know "something" you do might result in them wanting to leave you.....like a "breaking point" in DAO at which point you have a chance to get them back

I just think if they have a meter, which they have alluded to there MUST be more than just one or two conversations that effect loyalty and a breaking point.

Seems counter intuitive considering all the stream lining they've done in other areas

It's a point system like Dragon Age. So I assume it requires no effort what-so-ever.

I do believe you'll be able to check your companions loyalty from a computer in your private cabin. Think of it like face book, only with numerous 'I hate you scum bag! or 'I don't hate you enough to kill you outright, maybe crush your skull...' (Three guesses who's that from), to even 'Gimme yer hot bod!'

Yar.

I'm pretty sure only certain pivotal conversations matter for gaining their loyalty as well as altering their personality (like Garrus' in the first one), the rest of the conversations consist on choosing the right lines for them to open up to you and tell you about their unresolved issues, not a point-based system.

If it is solely Hate or love, then why have a system to indicate where you stand?
