OK, you guys know what I'm talking about, and I think it's time we see some actual work on the Benevolent spirits look. If DA:I is going to have one or more benevolent spirits in the game, I want to see some originality.

This may have been okay in DA:O because there was only one benevolent spirit appearance in DA:O(not counting Awakening), but I say it's time they get the treatment they deserve.

Sure, why not?

If Justice/Vengeance does make an appearance in DAI it still sharing the Templar model would be ironic at this point.

they are upping the demon's looks and making them more unique, why not make the spirits unique?

Yeah in DA:O they looked pretty plain and dull. They could be so much more.

I'd love for them to come up with some interesting designs for the more virtuous spirits. I just hope that if they do end up doing it that it isn't something boring, like a typical winged angel look or something. I'd like to see them reflect the nature of the beyond/fade, while incorporating the virtuous aspects into it, if that makes sense. I'm not sure how that would work though, to be honest.

Hmm... I'm not really sure about the angels with wings kind of design, it's just so overused. The demons in this franchise are very unique to this world and I like it. So I would, in the same way, like to see something different done with the spirits.

It would be really nice to see the spirits given their own look by the virtue they embody, just like they did with the demons. I still remember being impressed how Rage demons were done, as molten lava kind of creatures, who embody rage and therefore are manifestations of fire.

Justice and Valor as knights make sense to me, but how would you visually depict virtues like Compassion, Faith or Hope?

On that subject, wouldn't it make sense for Pride demons (in their true forms) to appear more... angelic, or divine? At least some of them, anyway.

I don't know how any demon can take an "angelic" form, let alone Pride. Unless, of course it's trying to trick someone. The one spirit I can see taking on such a figure would be Compassion.

I can see Faith taking on an angelic visage too.

I agree with this they should have their own unique designs

Them as knights do make sense, but they should look different than the Templar armor or Ferelden heavy armor

Why would they be ugly? If they are supposed to visually reflect their essence, wouldn't that include vanity, or conceit? To me, taking on the form of something angelic or divine (or at least a mockery of such) would reflect that perfectly.

Because they're demons? To me personally, Pride is a two sided emotion. But it seems in Dragon Age, Pride is the dark emotion, with it's counter part being Faith.

So I guess as you said, Pride could be a sort of a mockery and a dark version of Faith's form.

I don't think it should have to be visually dark, as in, black or purple, but twisted in some form.

I'm thinking like Gwyndolin from Dark Souls, the Golden Saints from Oblivion, or the Sniper of Goth from Symphony of the Night

Are winged humanoids as divine beings a thing in Thedas? I don't recall any examples. The Wardens use wings in their armor and other decoration, and while it does lend them a certain air of nobility, it is related to their griffons, not spirits.

The existing Pride demon is pretty "twisted", I'd say.

The trick would be to imagine a spirit of Faith looking uncorrupted and perhaps angelic, but drawn from that.

No. For all we know, the people of Thedas might find such appendages on a humanoid grotesque, which would fit into it being a "mockery" of a divine being.

Think more:

Pretty much something like these but less flashy:

I want to see the spirit of humility opposite of pride demon.

A spirit of humility being the opposite of the pride demon makes alot more sense than its opposite being a spirit of faith.

Compassion I imagine looking like a healer or doctor, possibly a seeker.

Faith would be a priestess if I am to be completely honest, probably a sister of the chantry.

Hope would look pretty much like faith, but younger I guess? IDK.

OK

Pride - Justice (no one is above the law)

Desire - Will (self control)

Hunger - Will (self control)

Rage - Love (hatred will be extinguished by love)

Sloth - Valor (get out of the house)

Fear - Hope (little light in the dark abyss)

Despair - Faith (blazing sun in the abyss)

Envy - Compassion (learn to be glad for some else at least)

I agree with the others, Humility is the true polar opposite of Pride. Hunger, Rage and Desire can be balanced with Temperance, Mercy and Honour respectively. Diligence for Sloth.

Unfortunately, DA is different, so whatever we say here, Faith is the polar opposite of Pride. I wish the connection could at least be explained properly.

For me, in Christian mythology, the seven heavenly virtues never really seemed to quite fit the seven deadly sins. While some of them seem like opposites of one another, a lot of times they exist independently and depend on perspective.

In his speech, Malcolm doesn't mirror the captured demons with their corresponding virtues, but he rather just counters the sins directly.

...be bound here for eternity, hunger stilled, rage smothered, desire dampened, pride crushed. In the name of the Maker, so let it be.

Expect for the demon/spirit deck to be shuffled in Inquisition. They've already stated there will be new demons, Despair has been mentioned by name. This is very likely one of the new demons.

Whereas this one I see as being a possessed corpse akin to an Arcane Horror or Revenant, but it could be a physically manifesting demon as well.
