So I have already logged multiple DA:O playthroughs on both the X360 and PC and now I am embarking on another game on the PS3.

Why you may ask?

Because I have a PS3 and way too much free time. Not to mention just in case I can import PS3 saves from DA:O and DA2 from PS3 into DA:I PS4 I will be prepared. If not the choices, story, lore, etc. will still be fresh in the noodle since I haven't played in ages.

I have played all the classes and all the origins but for this final romp through Ferelden and elsewhere I can't shake the nagging "need" to play a rogue. I'm like the Rum Tum Tugger in that I can't stand to be on the wrong side of every locked object.

I know there are only a few instances in the game, especially early where the party is otherwise rogue-less, but I have a hard time trying to get my warrior or mage through the Wilds outside Ostagar or past the road to Kirkwall without quitting and going back to reroll a lock-picker.

Am I the only one? Is there a support group for this or something? Can anyone please help me get past this so I can have a canon warden and Hawke that for once isn't a rogue?

PC player here, but let me tell you - you are not the only one. The lock bash mod wouldn't have been made otherwise. Think about it this way - those initial chests probably contains some junk that'd hardly add up to one sovereign. Why not imagine that your warrior or mage smashed those chests to bits and donated the profit to the refugees or may be invested in the war effort. Does that help? Or are all of your wardens/hawkes hardcore misers in addition to being rogues?

I think Rogues have more going for them than just locks. DAO is a very rogue friendly game (personally, I like warriors and mages more in DA2. I'd recommend exploring more classes there). You get the most out of them by controlling them yourself and they are easy to equip. You get more dialogue options with Cunning. Hell, you can make a Dalish and wear their default armor through the majority of the game (just keep putting in the Warden's Keep storage to upgrade it's Tier level). If you've already played Witch Hunt, then your archers will have the best bow in the game right off the bat too.

Haha that's normal to be fixated on the chests. That's why lock bash is the best thing ever. DW rogue is also one of the most fun ways to play. Archery is BORING. In both DAO and DA2. There I said it.

There's only 1 chest in the prologue before you get to Kirkwall and it always contains a very, very miniscule upgrade to one of your armour pieces (unless youre lucky enough to get a helmet) so it bothered me very little. I like mage and warrior far better in DA2. I hate everything about DAO's mage origin story and the only build I have any fun with is shapeshifter so i rarely ever have the desire to roll mages.

OK.. I agree DW rogue is fun, but then... I don't think archery is any worse than the others. It's just that DW rogue is the most fun. Nothing else is all that. I play the other classes mostly because I like different character concepts. It's enough to keep me going.

edit: Referring to DAO btw.

I agree on mages and warriors in DA2. Much improved.
