I have had some problems on PSN but with my 30 day free trial for XBL, every lobby in all the games I had played had a 6 year old with voice changer so he thought he sounded like he was 20.

It really depends on PSN. I have had guys spam me because they were sore losers but all I did was block them and I never have an issue with them.

Steam can be very friendly and hostile at the same time. I've had whole Gmod servers go berserk when I joined with a brony avatar but I also have met some real good people on Steam.

But you don't have to play online. All game and console updates are free, and you also won't need to pay sony to play some mmo type games, like Final Fantasy XIV. For me a person who never plays online, I would never have to pay for online access as I don't need or want it. But I already do pay for PS+ because of the games you can rent each month.

At the moment the best online service is PS+ its far better than live. (that not counting pc stuff)

You have to be online for those updates though, if I remember correctly.

You just need to be connected to the internet and they will download when you boot the game. They are still free. When you pay for the subscription all you are paying for is the right to play online, to use chat features, share features and the game rentals. The game rentals alone is worth the money tbh.

You're correct, that's why I said my analysis wasn't exactly in-depth. For instance, I didn't consider people who never play MP or who play F2P MMOs. My analysis assumes people will at least buy one game with a multiplayer component and that will want to exploit (play) said component.

Yeah. I think I'll be jumping ship when consoles finally go full digital distribution.

This is nothing more then a Xbone fanboy thread. Sony sells 3 million more consoles and Xbox makes more revenue? Lololol! Laughable.

$500 x 4 million
$400 x 7 million

Mathematics.

Maybe more revenue but not more profit. Each PS4 costs Sony $381 to make for an $18 profit, and each Xbone costs Microsoft $471 to make for a $28 profit.

$28 * 4 million

$18 * 7 million

They actually be neck and neck only considering only harware sales, but that doesn't count subscriptions and software sales.

Profits or losses from selling consoles don't mean anything as Microsoft and Sony would tell you.

It is all about the market share, since most peasants could only afford a single platform and would proceed to argue with anyone why the platforms of their choice are better.

Personally, I think it's way too early to tell on titles for the PS4. Before 2008, I wouldn't touch the PS3 with a 10-foot stick - not at the price and lack of satisfying exclusives(outside of Resistance). Give it time, or simply don't buy it.

I'll agree it kinda blows about the developmental damage news.

Not sure what the argument is all about...pc's will always be superior to consoles.

In terms of power, yeah. But that's it. Fortunately, there's more to good games than just that. Which is all that should really matter in the end. If the tech is adequate enough for developers to provide good gaming experiences then that's enough.

I've heard somewhere that people only being able to afford one platform is the reason the console wars are even a thing. Trashing talking the exclusives on the other kids' platforms makes you sound a lot cooler than just admitting you want to play them but don't have the money.

Even assuming that is true, sony is still beating microsoft.

28 X 4 = 112

18 X 7 = 126.

Come on people, this is basic mathematics here.

And yet they can aford a computer to talk to other people on. This is shocking to know, but I think the real reason is that only folks who like modding games or hardware are into PC's, everyone else prefers the simple, already set up and ready to go, no installation needed form of gaming that is consoles. That and the tradition of getting your games from a store, before games could be able to be downloaded. People often forget about how much traditional actions, or even just actions of people in a previous generation, can affect how people act in the modern age.

Give it about two to three decades and consoles and pcs will have become so close alike that the distinction will be mostly irrelevent.

I think this is part of it but at the end of the day it is just human nature to be irrationally protective of things you like.

I suspect that the reasons for having a PC or console are as numerous as the amount of people you ask.

For me, consoles are nice if you just want to relax on the couch for a bit or have friends over. PCs aren't designed with multiple people using them in mind, and it's kind of a pain to haul around an entire PC along with monitor, mouse, keyboard, and cables.

From a hardware standpoint, the distinction already is largely irrelevant right now though. Consoles are basically just PCs with a specialized operating system.

I'll buy a PS4 when there are more games out for it instead of only one.

I thought it was now required to install your games before playing?

You have to install your games on the PS4 and Xbone.

Exactly, removing one of the main advantages consoles had over PC gaming.

>Not playing on Xbox 360

Do you enjoy casually discarding hard drive space?

But seriously, that is a horrible implementation for Sony to carry over from the PS3 and for Microsoft to now imitate.

I have never needed to install a game playing on console. If these new consoles now have installation processes, it only gives more credence to my point that PC's and Consoles are becoming the same damn thing, and so the PC master race and Console Wars simply a soon to be irrelevant differentiation.
