Nope - hell, I've even been in a game with someone who got a melee kills medal with a Volus Engineer ... without the Batarian Gauntlet O_o

Yes, I created some new advanced game tactics recently.

 

1.  Get a geth engineer, spec OUT of hunter mode(you'll thank me later).

2.  Equip a mantis and a shuriken(for atlas shields).

3.  When the match starts get into cover ASAP, the mantis is much more accurate when fired from cover and I think it benefits from an increased rate of fire as well.  It basically puts the arc pistol to shame.

3.  Waves 1 and 2 will be spent taking pot shots at enemies from cover.

4.  When you spot an atlas switch to the shuriken, you'll see why.  Once you have about 1/16 of the atlas's shields down he will surely be encroaching on your cover.  Switch to your cobra, now that the shuriken has stripped some atlas shields it will be easy to finish off with a missile.

5.  rinse and repeat. 

 

With this strategy I win roughly 1 game per hour on gold, getting heaps of credits.
