I believe v1.02 of the patch fixes this. At least for the PC though - I'm not 100% sure for on your PS3.

But is it true that you have to have very low approval to trigger the right conversation material? Because it was never that low. I don't think I let any of my members drop below 45%. And I don't think I ever encountered Leliana speak of spies in Orlais.
Wish I had left one untouched save at the very beginning. Feels wrong to explore the romance with another character.

Break up with her. I'm serious. Save before doing so, though. She won't hate your PC for the break, but you will get a hit in approval (-13) or something like that.
After breaking up with her, there should then be some extra dialogue options that now show up, where you can ask about olesian bards or something like that, and you can ask her why she came to Fereldan. She'll be evasive as to the real reason.
Leave camp. Go somewhere. Come back to camp. She should then initiate a conversation with you, about her lying about the real reason she left for Fereldan. She'll talk about her past as a bard. Be nice to her. This opens up the next encounter:
Leave camp and travel near the Brecelian forest. A random encounter with some assassins should happen. You'll find out what to do, here.
After dealing with Marjolain, speak with Leliana back in camp. Ask her if she loved Marjolain. You'll need to pick the option "I hope that someday I'm as special to you, as she was" to restart the romance.
After this, get Leliana's approval back up by making choices she approves of, and you should be good to go.

Me: About us...i think we need to break up
Leliana: What? Why?
Me: It's not you its me
Leliana: (pissed) Don't you dare say that! (doesn't believe the clichés I'm feeding her)
Me: Actually, yes, it's because of you!
Leliana: What?! (equivalent of WTF?! hilarious)
She finishes by saying she's feels she's not needed and alludes to leaving but to my surprise she's still at camp...so I trigger the same conversation again resulting in -30 approval (2x -15 for the convos)
Then the Orlais Spies topic showed up and Marjolaine Quest was initiated.

So again, thank you.
I guess the wiki needs an update.

Dialogue options can be found by searching 'Leliana's Past' in the wiki. This is especially useful if you can do the Marjolaine Quest early but I never seem to be able to get it early.
How early have some people gotten this quest?

...and as I wrote in earlier posts, I had an approval of 77 when I triggered the personal quest after a breakup.
I noticed it's possible to go back to camp and "have sex", but there's no "explicit" scene. Cute though.
...and I find it odd that after their first tent scene, they woke up fully armoured. If that were me I would NEVER put on full armour after having an intimate moment with the love of my life. I thought Leliana had comfy covers, as she mentioned.

You can also harden Leliana after killing Marjolaine. This will result in her objecting less to evil deeds.

I have a game right now, where her personal quest triggered even before I did any of the main quest lines.
Then again, I have both the DLCs, and with the Stone Prisoner, you have a chance of getting +7 approval from Leliana.
A few talks, a gift, and with that approval boost, her quest line triggered for me.

Leliana is almost at 100 currently.

Just so you know, the patch for the PC does NOT fix the issue.
I was very pissed to find this out on my elven mage playthrough. Although I hadn't given her many gifts, I did lots of things she approved of and got her approval way up. I'd just patched my game so I didn't think it'd be a problem, but I still couldn't trigger her personal quest--and I'm not romancing her with that character, so I can't break up with her to lower her approval, either.
Somewhat frustrating, but in the end, it only affects my equipment choices: no Marjolaine's Recurve for her--and no Far Song, as I discovered this after I'd saved the blacksmith's daughter and too late to want to go back and redo that quest.

Thanks for the info guys - I'll get one of my earlier saves (pre-kiss best?) and take it from there.

For those who are going to romance her... I give you a little suggestion to make the romance more funny.. If in the dialogue options appear a question like "What will you do when our adventures will be ended?" (I don't know how is the exact question in English because I play in Italian) WAIT to ask this to her... Keep this question in the dialogue's options and ask this to her only AFTER you have sleeped with her and she has declared she loves you.. Then you will have some different and more romantic dialogue choices
I believe the key, no matter what approval rating you have, you need to get her to trust you. She has to feel that she can speak to you about Orlais without feeling judged. That option goes out the window if the approval becomes strong admiration, to the point where she becomes jealous. Thank the maker for breakups and make-up ... romances.realj42 wrote...

My problem now, re-playing with a clone character, is to NOT rush things. My dwarven girl Beathag is eager for some Leliana romance though.

Yeah... When I saw for the first time that dialogue I had only kissed her at that moment...and I asked her immediately the question, but when the dialogue ended I feel as I was missing something.. So i recharged, did not ask her the question and keeped that dialogue line until the end of the romance.... My feeling was right !!! Anyway, I am not able to say if it's a little bug the fact that this dialogue-option is available before you have completed the romance...

Did you ask in camp or in Redcliffe Castle right before the Final battle? I don't know if this is related but in my first playthrough I spoke to her after winning the Final battle and asked "And will the heroine get her girl?". Leliana responded something similar to "If there's room for another body" and I replied "Only if it's you".MaxQuartiroli wrote...

No no... in the camp.. you have to ask her this question after you told her that you hope a day you may become as special to her as Majorlaine was... Do you remember se said you something like "My dear.. I believe this day has already become...... etc.etc." After this you can make her the question.. Do you want to know what are the new option dialogue or you are going to discover this by youself?
