What's your favourite part of DA:O?

One simple rule! No negativity! Don't post about what you hated or try to pick a fight because you just can't believe someone else loves feature x or character y. There are plenty of threads to debate those very things, let's use this thread to remind the devs and each otherother why we are all fans of bioware!

I think it was really feeling that the choices I made as the Warden mattered. Even through out the game. It was really the first time I'd truly seen this done.

I'm always looking forward towards the fighting part of the endgame, beginning with the arrival in Denerim where everyone in the party joins the fray. Lots of whirling dervish opportunities, bomb spells detonate on impact and friendly fire is no worry because everyone except for the Warden is immortal. The rest is a curious mixture of tasty fights and detonating darkspawn with abandon, including the finale on the rooftop.

I just love the epic battle in the end. I also love the battle scene in Ostagar. The warden building an army and having fifty troops of each clan at his command was excellent. If they made a remake I would jump at it.

My favorite part is at the party camp and hearing the music. Very soothing and fit perfectly with the atmoshere.
The narration and music with all forces marching just before going to Denerim to fight the Archdemon
Leliana's voice and singing.

I loved the origin system. I got excited every time the main story hooked it in a little and was completely (pleasantly) surprised when I found out just how strongly that could happen. It created a sense of intimacy with the Warden that was very easy for the player to realize, since the background is shown rather than told.

I think it has a very nice, responsive engine. Moving my party around on the field is smooth and easy, without anyone getting caught on scenery, etc. Great party banter and dialogue choices. I like the long response options and of course seeing the entire line before choosing my response. Also, with the voiceless protagonist, I can roleplay the tone and feeling better.

The ending ceremony, without a doubt.
I have a number of problems with the game's main story but no matter how many times I play through it, the ending always brings forth this amazing feeling of accomplishment that not very many games can provide. It's more than worth putting up with the parts I dislike to see all of my efforts play out in such a satisfying resolution.

+1 on Leliana's singing! That was the best part of that romance, when she sang for me. ![]()
Also, the part near the end when all of the companions are lined up waiting just before the final battle, and each one has some words to say about it.

I loved so much about Origins. It is in my top five favorite games of all time for a reason. The humor, interactivity with your companions over serious and light topics, the text box dialogue choices for roleplaying flavor (as opposed to the limited set personality dialogue wheel choices), the silent protagonist (allowing me to imagine and project more of my own original imaginings of what my character is saying and how and their voice), the ability to have limited roam across a fairly large world map and environmental maps whenever you wanted, Lelianna's song, and how the choices I made did feel like they mattered and showed how they mattered. And, of course, the game offering well done same-sex romances of equal quality to the heterosexual ones, and for it to not be a huge oppressive and shameful thing in Fereldan/Thedas so much as fairly normalized. One of the first choice-driven big studio rpgs to allow for such, and to such a degree. I feel it was a positive turning point not only in the DA franchise but also in BioWare and, to some ripple effect, the industry around us.
Being able to choose not only the sex of your character, but also whether to play as different races, all of whom are customizable in appearances and classes, and had unique intro origin stories. It was a very interesting approach and made for something unique, regardless whether one liked an origin or not. Commendable direction to try with all of that, to try making personal stories more personal and unique on this long epic journey. To make it feel more like your own.
Also, nugs.

Well the Origins and how all 5 other stories sort of exists when you play the 6th. But in the game the landsmeet is just brilliantly done, the writing of the lines and the different outcome from dialogue choices.
