Nothing too fantastic here. I just changed which text the dialog option was referencing. The Leviathan TLK has a line that reads "Intelligence?" from the convo with the Leviathan. For the EC version, I couldn't use that text and instead had to use a line that reads "What are you?"

Ahhh. Ok, that makes sense. Apparently the Leviathan DLC modifies that conversation pretty significantly. What's really funny is that in all of the epilogue videos I had to watch for researching purposes, I never once saw any of those lines. So, I really had no idea.

Thanks again for the info, and really awesome that there are no TLK headaches coming my way, ha. Looking forward to seeing the finished product :)

I'll admit, I wasn't certain if I wanted to have the EC Shepard lives music play during the scene. Pre-EC the scene played without music, but it just didn't seem to feel right when I tried that here. And I have one thing I want to try re: the voiceovers before we mix in the audio...

I'm looking forward to see what you have in mind. I think giftfish was wondering about the placement of the breath scene. Would it be better before the Hackett epilogue? Whether the video has edited audio or not, it sort of gives the impression that Shep was lying around for a while before breathing. Granted, Shep did already die once and come back.  ;)

Here is what I got working. "Proof of concept" video. The dialog is just what I ripped quickly; not necessarily the line that would go there.

Ah, basically fewer lines by cutting to just one, which isn't all bad of course. And I do see the point of going from the helmet shot to the breath scene as that is a good move; plus, the original EC saves the breath for after the Normandy taking off so that's a really long time; not that it has to be linear.

Well, I could still put in the other lines (I kind of like the way you had it) but the point here is that the final line is an actual dialog voice over not audio mixed into the video. Therefore it's dynamic; the game can play Shepard's LI (if we can find appropriate lines.

That was beyond what I thought was possible. That's a pretty cool idea for sure and you can pull it off. Amazing.

If you want, I'd be happy to try and find the best lines of "Shepard!" possible. I for some reason like Liara's "Goddess" just because it's so full of emotion; I think it was pulled from her seeing Thessia falling apart, not that the Shepard line isn't dramatic.

Wow, that is amazing.

If you LI is ashley, perhaps is possible to use her best line in the entire game: "You are in the presence of a god", replacing You're with I'm.

Sounds great even as concept.

Amazing, as usual, sir.

Maybe you could do both? Put in James and Joker mixed into the video to help lend the feeling that all the crew are looking for Shepard, but then add the LI as the final voice at the end? Would something like that work?

I'm getting all sorts of feels thinking about hearing Thane's voice in that situation. Let me know if you want me to hunt down an emotional "Siha" for you. I've done lots of digging into Thane's dialogue, so I know it pretty well at this point :)

If JohnP is game, go ahead giftfish. It sounds to me he likes the idea of all the initial "searching for Shepard" dialogue I used in the examples and he'll set it up for an LI specific voice for the last line before the breath.

Now, emotional is good but I think more desperation is needed. Shep is not shown as breathing and in rubble; which is exactly why I used that very specific "goddess" line. I'm not sure if I can find lines for all the LIs which meet the need since that was the only "goddess" line from Liara that worked. Granted, the "Shepard" line worked which JohnP found as well (I think I know that one.)

I would redo the intro bit as well because if the last line is Shepard we won't need to hear that 2 or 3 times in a row. JohnP, you ok with me getting examples up? I do enjoy this little audio stuff and I like hunting for lines; not sure why, it's just my thing.

Sure, I'm happy to hunt down a "Siha."

Deager, I do get what you saying, but at the same time, Thane is a pretty reserved individual. I'll certainly try to find the most emotional/desperate one, but there's significantly less dialogue to work with in Thane's case. There are one or two I have in mind from ME2 that I think will work; I'll post something by tomorrow evening. :)

True that giftfish. I'll start listening through stuff and keep the character in mind. Garrus doesn't need as much "oomph" either. Yeah, Thane wasn't too worked up in the Collector base so I agree with you.

Well, I actually just finished listening through all of his ME2 endgame dialogue and I was surprised myself. He actually does get pretty vocal at times. I hadn't listened to all of it before, since much of it wouldn't be of use for ThaneMOD. I did find a couple that I have to remember, though.

BUT, I did find the one I was looking for, which after I edit it, would probably be perfect. Take a listen, both of you:

If you like the line, JohnP, I can edit it two ways: once with just the "Siha" and once with the "Siha, where are you?" Then you can use whichever one works better.

What do you think?

I didn't remember him so intense either but that should do it. JohnP can confirm. I see the file name in the link. I'll go grab that from my extraction of ME2 and get to work.

JohnP, I'm guessing you can control when the dynamic LI line comes in exactly? I'll cut the example videos the same way every time. I think having the LI line, then the final cord change to the breath is most effective but that could be changed of course.

Today is the first day we hit 70 degees F in Minneapolis so I may be outside for longer than usual on my porch. :)

I'm using Delay objects to time the VOs, so keeping the LI lines the same length would be helpful so I don't need a Delay for each one. :)

I agree with this.

I'll do the James/Joker/EDI clips (or whoever we think works best) the same way, as voice overs, so I don't need to mix audio into the videos (and it allows subtitles to be consistent with the rest of the scene).

OK, got it. With all this modding I have a new 2TB drive in my computer right now. I'm copying over the data and tomorrow should be able to do some work. If I can get it all together in a way which works I'll provide the audio files at the correct volumes so you just need to plug them in.

Given that you won't have to mess around with editing the bik and adding audio directly into the file, did you figure out how to get the breath to play?

I'll amend this by saying that if there is a really good line that is a little longer than the others, we should still use it.

Also, I didn't say earlier, but I agree that Liara's "Goddess" line works well for her line. I'll also use her as the default if there is no LI (who does that? :) ).

I have no idea...short of people like me pre-ThaneMOD. Well, and Jacob fans. ;)

OK, here's what I have so far. The video is just femshep because I didn't feel like re-cutting with broshep for proof of concept.

Since Shepard is said twice I could move Joker's "Commander!" to the Shepard spot to have it not be as repetitive.

I'll just say I don't like the lines for Steve or Traynor; especially Traynor. Jack is....interesting; not sure how good it is. A few I'm just undecided between the 2 options you'll hear. I also thought of another one; basically a rip-off of the line Mimi used in the Kaidenite mod. Anyway, let me know what's working and what's not. I suppose if I can't find lines for a few LIs those could route to the default line of Liara.

Ash/Garrus/Liara/Tali/Thane -- All work great.

Jack -- I think "****" is great for Jack. At the same time there might be some nice more emotional "Shepards" from her ME2 love scene? Or, from her loyalty missing on Pragia.

Kaidan -- I really like both. The "noo" is a bit dramatic, and Kaidan girls tend to like their drama, from my (little) experience.

Miranda -- First one sounds better to me.

Steve -- Doesn't he ever call Shepard, Shepard? Steve is a quiet guy, so even if it isn't exclamatory, as long as it's emotional, that would work, I think.

Sam -- Yeah, this one doesn't really work. Did you look in the cabin convo pcc at all? There might be some good ones in there. Same thing as with Steve's on needing emotion, but not necessarily an exclamation.

I can do some more looking on Jack/Steve/Sam if you want me to, just let me know.

Also, I'd discourage you from subbing Liara in for any other LI. There really is a lot of "Laira-hate" out there; many folks feel like BW pushed her on them too hard in ME3. It was very, very clear on the Romance DLC survey. It's obviously up to JohnP, but it's always nice when a mod can compensate for BW's...missteps, lol.

Nice work, Deager.

I did take a vacation day today so that's how I got this done; it was fun. I agree on Jack and I can rifle through the ME2 stuff again. I didn't notice anything on my first take but there could be something there.

Steve says Shepard...sheesh, just a few times maybe? I think I have all the files available and it's more romantic, not really what the scene calls for. I'll double check what I found. I listened to all his core game lines 2 or 3 times and the Leviathan DLC as much as I could scour.

Right, Sam is a problem. Big problem. I think I listened to all of her lines from the ME3 core game 3 or 4 times today. This was the best I could muster...maybe. There is one time I think she says "Shepard" and it might work so I'll throw that up later today or this weekend. Plus, I haven't combed the DLCs but oh man I hate doing that just because the way I extract those out I can't actually see a file name that makes sense. Citadel DLC is generally quite playful so I'm not thinking that will not work but who knows? I'll check it all out.

Good point on Liara. I think JohnP thought that was a safe move but I'd vote for Joker myself. If that were the case, and even if not, I may slap EDI saying "Shepard!" instead of Joker in the current setup. Then I can use Joker saying "Shepard" for the non-LI spot.

If you want to look around go right ahead as I certainly won't stop you. JohnP gets the final say on all of this anyway.

Anyway, I'm enjoying the outdoors this evening but I bet tonight I'll get some examples up again to try and shore this up.

EDI is a very good thought, actually. Definitely better since she's not an LI at all, so "neutral" in that sense.

Also, don't forget about YT videos when it comes to research. Obviously it won't get you access to any lines BW elected not to use and that are still in the game files, but it can make researching everything else quite a bit faster. There are lots of compilation videos of romances and stuff for each character. You probably know all that, but just mentioning it in case.

Citadel DLC is a really good thought. I don't have it, but from what I had to research on YT for the anti-flirting part of the mod, there's a good bit of dialogue there for all the squad/crew.
