OK, 3 more here. Traynor, Jack, and Steve. I got EDI in. I moved Joker's "Commander!" line but I think I prefer it earlier so I may swap EDI and Joker back.

Ha, I think you found the same Sam line I did. I liek Jack's "****" better than that one. She does have an emotional "Shepard" right as she walks into the cabin for the ME2 love scene.
Steve's is ok. Like Sam, he usually calls Shepard, "Commander." Have you been able to find any of those that might sound more emotive?
I did find about 6 versions of "Shepard" from Jack which I thought might even have a chance. This video shows the Jack one you're talking about. And I would say it's too soft which is the exact problem with Cortez. All his "Shepard" lines are pretty soft. I think the scene either needs desperation or more broken down/crying. Even just sobbing by Cortez would work but I can't think of a time he does that.
On the plus side, you can also check this video out to see EDI's line shifted and Joker's "Commander!" back to the beginning.
Off topic. On a bigger plus side, I got a beta of v1 of CEM out today. Just lacking one or two things I'm not technically able to change myself but otherwise it should be good to go.
OMG you're awesome!
I agree that the Steve and Samantha lines you have would work, but are rather soft. If you want to keep looking, awesome. If not, you can send me all the lines you have and I can take the baton. You've done so much already. ![]()
I think I have the sequencing and everything else ready to go for this scene.
In case any of you other modders are interested, here is the list of files for the complete mod:
Base Game:
Extended Cut:
Leviathan:
Wow that's excellent!

When it comes to audio; I guess it's like when I was a kid, searching for that rare LEGO piece and then finding it. I kind of can't leave something alone until I know I've done all I can. I'm going to dig a little more. I should say, it'll be this weekend. I have this afternoon and tomorrow while watching golf to find stuff; once that deadline is past I'll give you the goods.
I sent you the files via PM with some boring information. ![]()
If you like looking for audio, you can look for Kelly and Samara too.
Haha.
Do you want all the files and options or just want I/we think are the best for each person?
I suppose all of them, but I would like it if we could still debate on which ones work best. ![]()
I think I could balance them for you by pulling the music file and then adjusting the volume of the voices against that. Granted...I can't test it like you could and tweak as needed.
I should probably adjust them as I put them in and test. The game engine applies volume and effects filters on the sounds in real time, so until we hear them in-engine, it might be futile to try to adjust them.

Ha, ninja.
I was wondering about Samara and Kelly. I had already started with Samara so cool beans. I'll be looking for those then as well.
Right, I'll get other files uploaded later, once I've gone through more of them.
Agreed on sound balance. You can use my cheat sheet I included to maybe help get started in the right direction.
So I can't get these to play in-game. I haven't encoded in wwise in quite a while. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
I'm importing into wwise, going to conversion settings and setting the format to Vorbis, and leaving everything else as default. Once I get the everything set up in the game, the game won't play the sound. I'm pretty sure it's a conversion issue, because if I point the same event to the breath sound, it plays (I used HxD to copy the breath sound directly from its afc, so it was already in the correct format).
Oh right, sorry. I just gave you .wav files. Although, you need those for balance. I'm not able to be on my desktop right now and am watching hockey with family but I can think of this.
vorbis
30 on the sample rate or whatever it's called
the output should be .ogg
no need for a...crap, with music something at the bottom is 8124 or something and you leave it as auto or don't select it or something
Once we get to a period break and my desktop isn't being used to file taxes I'll confirm all the settings for you.
Hey JohnP, If you copy wwise converted sounds directly into the afc with a HEX editor, it won't work. You need to change the header of the RIFF slightly (get rid of the vorb chunk). You can use afc_fileswitch to do this easily if you already know the correct offsets in the afc. Here is a link (instructions included in the archive):
https://dl.dropboxus..._fileswitch.rar
Conversion setting themselves don't really matter for encoding (just for quality).
Hope that helps. ![]()
Haha, just had a quick skim over the instructions pdf from the archive. So this is pretty dated (I think it's from mid 2012) but should still be valid. Also, looks like automatic spellcheck converted my "HEX value" into an "Oxvalue". ![]()
Anyway, if you run into trouble, let me know.
Oh that's right, I forgot the issue is how to get them in. I've always used afc_fileswitch. I think you'll get it but if not let me know.
Having issues. ![]()
I am adding all these sounds to a new afc so I don't have to include the entire extended cut afc in the download. It works for the male/female breath sounds (because like I said, they are already in the correct format). So I need to append the new files to the end. Correct me if I'm wrong, but afc_fileswitch will only replace existing data, not append to the file. I tried to just paste an existing file to the end of the afc and THEN do afc_fileswitch to replace that, but it keeps giving me this:
Warning 002: RIFF header missing/corrupted at the end of output file.
Do you want to continue (not recommended)? (y/n)
y
Operation continued
Error 009: WAVE header missing/corrupted in output file.
File Pos: -1, Chars read: Z
, Byte 1 (int): 90, Byte 2 (int): 0, Byte 3 (int): 0, Byte 4 (int): 0
Does afc_fileswitch not work when replacing the last audio file in the afc?
Oh right, appending to the end. The process I used for that was a bit weird.
I did use the "direct afc file replace" and grabbed the ogg file to import at an offset at the end of the file (I actually manually added 52 49 46 46 to end of a file so some RIFF stuff was there I think.)
So, that really does get the file imported into the game but the header is all screwed up. I would then find the header of another sound file I imported using afcfileswitch and copy it. Then I'd paste it over the bad header (the bad header is more bytes so I had to reduce the file size when I did it, no problem.)
But I'm still not done, then you run afc_fileswitch. You'll get a corrupted RIFF warning but it doesn't matter. Depending on the header info you pasted in you may get a filesize error, again, doesn't matter. It seems to figure that out in this specific process since the sound file is already in afc completely. That process then corrects the header so it should be playable in game.
The issue is, I think I had to use the header from a sound I imported earlier using afc_fileswitch. That said, let me provide you with some head into which may work since any file seemed to work. This is a large file and should avoid the annoying "size" warning. I hope I have the correct amount of bytes as it ends at with "data" in text. I should have written notes on exactly the range I found successful.
52 49 46 46 BA 86 00 00 57 41 56 45 66 6D 74 20 42 00 00 00 FF FF 01 00 C0 5D 00 00 6B 0F 00 00 00 00 00 00 30 00 10 00 04 00 00 00 80 97 05 00 B2 00 00 00 7A EB 00 00 00 00 80 00 00 00 00 00 B2 00 00 00 CC 00 80 00 1C 45 00 00 C4 46 00 00 14 F5 D9 D4 09 0A 64 61 74 61
Yea, sorry, appending is not supported directly (this was all made before we even knew we could do that).
So if you want to append, I guess you need to insert your sound in a random afc somewhere, then copy and paste in HEX.
Alternatively, you could compare you original wwise transformed sound with one that has been modified by afc_fileswitch and just manually change the headers for all your other sounds in HEX (as mentioned, I think all you need to do is to delete the vorb chunk from the header which is just a few bytes long).
I never worked with any of the sound tools in ME3Explorer directly (Soundplorer, etc.) but AFAIK, they should allow appending as well.
I am also happy to provide you with the source code for afc_fileswitch. You could add an appending function to it.Just need to get home to g3et the project. Let me know if you want it.
Thanks, everyone. Got it now.
Man, I forgot to get those lines for Kelly and Samara found. I'll get to work tonight when I get home. Also, I'll send all possibilities for other characters which are "questionable" at the moment so you have options.
OK, a few more. Yet another Miranda idea. I kind of like all of her lines actually. 2 of Joker as the non-LI. Samara hopefully is good. Kelly is...really tough. I like the line OK but oh man she has fewer lines than Traynor. She has a great line where she says, "It matters to me!" as far as tone but uh...it makes no sense without reworking what James says.
EDIT: Ahhh, I just had an idea. I may need to crank the crying/breathing part a bit for Kelly. If people think it's worth it at all of course. In the meantime, here's the only "Shepard" from Kelly with a remote chance I think.
I just watched them again this morning. I sort of think the first Kelly option is pretty terrible. The "Shepard" one doesn't seem too bad.
I like the new Miranda option. But, I also like the other one from before ![]()
Joker #2 inflection sounds better.
Samara is great.
I actually think that Kelly's "Oh god" is better than the second one you posted, since the emotional inflection in her voice sounds more appropriate. Sucks that it's so quick, though. There are a couple other "Shepard's" that sound like they might work in the conversation she has with Shepard right before the Collectors and then after the end of ME2. They would be hard to splice out, though, since they are mid-sentence.
Thanks for the feedback; hopefully that helps JohnP too. Yeah, with Kelly I vacillate with the linesshown so far. I may have to do another listen as I thought I had them all, but I've thought that before and then found something. ![]()
OK, I went through all the Kelly lines and I dug up what I could. 2 takes here.
First one...uh, might be a bit corny. Which I'm bummed about since the tone of her voice I really like.
Second one might have a chance. I used Miranda's breathing to set it up as I didn't notice the Australian accent in her breathing. ![]()
The tone of the inhalation matches perfectly, actually. Nice job ![]()
I like the second Miranda-Kelly mash up. Link it up and I'll throw it in!
The only one I'm still not too keen on (but it's still acceptable) is Samantha, but I don't know if we can find anything better.

I'm going to go through files again. Not sure how but I'll try to get something better for Traynor. Got a deadline you want this done? I may not be able to do anything until Tuesday, maybe Monday. EDIT: I have an idea ![]()
