Got a little backed up, but these next two sessions really feel like they should be one anyway.

After heading back to the Citadel, I told mom that there was one stop we NEEDED to make before I'd let her begin the shore leave: that being Tali's encounter with the C-Sec guy that picked her up years ago.  Little did I know that that would delay the Citadel DLC juuuust a bit.

After talking with Tali, Gloria decided to check in with the Asari Councilor and got THAT mission.  Then to top things off, we stopped by Bryson's lab and found out about Ann's digsite.  Gloria decided to put off the shore leave for a little while longer and go find her.

After that mission was over, I half-expected mom to go right back to Bryson's lab and finish off the Leviathan DLC, but instead she made one more detour to Cyone to get the fuel running again.

At last, Gloria put in for those overdue repairs at the Citadel and checked out Anderson's apartment.  She even listened to about 2/3 of Anderson's scattered notebooks before going to meet Joker for sushi.  Then the fun REALLY started.

Even though mom doesn't care for all the combat too much, she was having a blast listening to all the banter over the radio.  Wrex's entrance was fun, and she enjoyed having him join the group for the rest of the mission, but Liara was the one who accompanied Gloria to the Benefit.

After finding out about the Archives being raided, Gloria took Kaidan and Garrus as her team to check it out.  Finding out that she was squaring off against her clone didn’t seem to faze mom.  Again, she loved all the cross team banter.  She DIDN’T see the double cross by Brooks coming, but she DID manage to hit a couple of the interrupts this time before getting sealed in the vault.

Once Glyph got Gloria out, I was looking forward to who she would choose to raid the ship because I was curious to hear who would speak up about being left behind (mom’s haphazard method of choosing squadmates and all).  She went with Garrus and Wrex, and James and Tali spoke up.  I guess mom really likes the security of tanks being along.

After finally taking the clone down to zero and fighting on the hangar bay door, mom really shocked me by choosing to kill the clone herself, but talking Brooks down.  It is nice to see mom start to get a handle on the interrupts.

Next came the first round of crew meetups at the apartment and around the strip.  Gloria met with EDI at the apartment before going up to the bar to help Garrus get a date and make what turned out to be a fatal error (she bought the party supplies) and finding a “suspicious device” in the casino (mom talked Kasumi OUT of robbing the place).  Then it was back to the apartment to check out Vega’s tattoo and let him work out in the gym (mom declined to go all the way with the pull-ups), before going to a vid-shoot with Javik (which she loved) and to meet Sam for lunch.

It was getting late, so I decided to put the rest of the meetups and the party off until the next session.  And now that I think about it, in the interest of moving things along, I think I’ll just go ahead and end this post here, too.

Does buying the supplies cancel the rest of the meetups? I can't recall.

I remembered reading something, somewhere (probably here on the BSN) to put off purchasing the supplies until you are ready to throw the party.  The rest of the invites are contingent on completing missions, and usually the Arena quests count.  I normally alternate between a meetup at the apartment, a meetup on the strip, and a trip to the Arena to keep the invites flowing and put off buying the supplies until there aren't any more meetups.

Once the party is over, the invitations start flowing again.

All right, so our next time out, I wanted to get in some more meetups before the party without leaving the Citadel, and that meant doing a few rounds in the Armax Arena.  Mom isn’t a big fan of just sitting and watching the combat, so after 5 trips and no more invitations we gave up.  Remember what I said about buying the party supplies?  I guess that short circuits the process and skips you right to the party.  At least mom got a kick out of some of the emails to Shepard in the locker room.

Gloria’s party just kept going: Loud, Louder, DANCE!  Highlights that mom loved included Grunt playing doorman, Sam getting increasingly embarrassed about her thing for EDI, and Joker’s ridiculous laughing at Shepard’s dance moves.  The morning after was sad for me as Gloria woke up alone, but mom got a kick out of James hawking his eggs.  As far as I was concerned, the worst part of the meetup short circuiting process was that I got cheated out of finally seeing Thane’s ghost on the dock.

Then it was back to the game proper.  Gloria went to Thessia to get the artifact from the temple that the Councilor told us about.  With a nudge from me, mom picked Javik to accompany her and Liara to the surface.  Turns out mom really dislikes when the Banshees start coming out.

Going around the temple with Javik correcting the record was fun.  The confrontation with Kai Leng and TIM was not.  Mom still absorbed all of the info and was a little frustrated at the end of the night.  She really laid into Joker back on the ship, and comforted Liara after her confrontation with Javik.  Talking around the ship was the end of this session (too much time lost in the Arena), and it actually felt like a proper endpoint.

I wanted to let that crazy vorcha into the party. - The crazy neighbors trash the apartment party.

I usually have the "Victory Party" after the ending.... but we don't know what ending she'll pick. My money is on the big D.

Just caught up on this. It's been great. Unless they make a Little House on the Prarie game, I don't see my mom *ever* doing anything like this.

I find this a very interesting project.  I wonder if there could be a second run of Gloria Shepard... :)

Shame that she didn't get Thane's ghost.  I think this deserves a reload. :P

Oh I so wished that I could have done that.  Unfortunately by the time it got discovered, the only available save to do it from was about 3 hours earlier.  There's no way that mom was going to sit through all of that! ;)

Maybe you can secretly push that save right back to the Thane funeral/ghost and after the game is done, you can go back to this save and show it to her. :)

I just wanted to mention how much fun reading this thread has been. I've loved hearing about Gloria's adventures through ME, and am interested to hear what she thought as ME3 finished.

I always wanted to get my Mom to try video games because I felt that, if she'd stopped thinking it was just for young people, she'd enjoy it like crazy. She loved little mini-games, FB games, Solitaire etc., and I knew she'd get a kick out of something like ME even in a more narrative/easy playthrough.  But I was never quite able to get her to do so.

So it's been really fun to read this and to try to imagine what Mom's choices would have been, versus my own. I do think Mom would have surprised me with some Renegade choices, and I totally think she would have romanced all the cute men and aliens she could have. Or at least flirted heavily with 'em. I definitely think she'd have echoed my own Femshep's crush on Thane, but I also think she would have romanced Kaiden too (then yelled at him).

And I do hope Gloria got to see Thane's very touching farewell to his romanced Femshep at the end of Citadel. I only played that version once (I was exasperated at the way Thane was dropped from any other mentions by fellow squadmates or even by Shep -- shoddy writing) and now stick with the modded version, but I did think his farewell was very touching and well-done.

I also think so many posts here go to show that gaming does transcend age and gender far more than pop culture would have us believe, and it's been great to see all the discussions on how diverse we the ME audience actually are.

Cheers and thanks!
