So, it is not hard to see the similarities between Dragon Age's story and ME 2's story. They both follow the same outline: things are going well, all hell breaks loose, you have to recruit an army and fight a battle against a seemingly invincible enemy. However, in Dragon Age you weren't focused solely on defeating the Darkspawn. There was a secondary main story that involved Loghain and getting revenge on him. Now, seeing as the two are so much alike (story element wise) I think ME 2 will have some sort of secondary main plot as well. Any thoughts to what that may be?
My personal opinion is this. I think Legion will be the secondary main plot. In Dragon Age with Loghain you could either kill him or recruit him once you confronted him later in the game. Will we be forced to make the same kind of decision with Legion? Also, in Dragon Age squadmates could leave your crew if you did something to displease them. Can they leave in ME 2? Could we potentially be faced with having to lose Tali in order to keep Legion or vice-versa?
My theory on Legion is this. Is it possible that the geth have somehow implanted Legion with Shepard's memories in an attempt to get Legion to hunt Shepard, but instead it backfired because instead of hating Shepard, Legion understood him and sympathized with him. Or, is it possible that something went wrong and Legion thinks he is Shepard?

This applies to pretty much every epic RPG out there. Also, you don't recruit an army in ME2, more like a commando group.
ME2 subplots are your squadmates personal stories.

Keep in mind that most squadmates in Dragon Age had personal stories too. I think that ME 2 is expanding on that and making it deeper and giving it a purpose but I also feel that there will definitely be a secondary main story line as well. And I agree, it isn't so much an army in ME 2 as it is a commando group but even Shepard in the trailer says, "If we are going to fight a war, I'm gonna need an army." Besides, with those ten, you may as well have a whole army on your side.

He says "I'm going to need an army... or a REALLY good team."

I missed the "REALLY good team" part. Still, they are basically an army. Sometimes I would rather have 10 crazy people on my side than 100 normal people too.

I see where you're going, but what you're talking about is the basis for most RPG stories out there.
1. Everything is fine
2. An evil / opposition arises
3. The main character must amass a band of allies to defeat this evil
4. All hope seems lost
5. The main character overcomes opposition.
The reason they use an invincible-esque character (Reapers, Archdemon, etc.) as the villain is to create tension in the story. If the villian appears to have weaknesses, then there is no suspense. I agree that ME2 will follow much of the same storyline guidelines as Dragon age, but only because the basics are shared throughout most movies and games, especially RPGs.

True, I see where you are going with that. But I think it is more specific with ME 2 and Dragon Age. I can't (because I haven't played it) compare the exact similarities too much but they are more similar to one another than they are to any other RPG. I can't really explain what I want to say but I feel like it is different with Bioware games. The basic plot elements may be there from standard RPGs but the two games in themselves are very similar, not just the basic plot but other things too. I don't want to say too much because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. But I definitely feel that there is going to be another main part of the story other than building your team and fighting the Collectors. I just wanted to get other people's opinions on what that main story element may be. I came to the conclusion of Legion because I don't think that they are going to introduce and conclude Legion's story in one mission. I think Legion will appear through most of the main story and probably not be in your squad until close to the end of the game. Maybe I am off base here but that is how I feel.
