Anyone still miss the "Dark Energy Theory"?

I thought this was a very sly problem within Mass Effect 2, although it wasn't touched upon much, you did get a feeling that it would become a much more severe problem as time went on. So far, I believe Gianna Parasini, Tali'Zorah, and Kal'Reegar, are the only ones who have touched upon the Dark Energy problem. It would have been a great problem to expand on in Mass Effect 3, but we all know most of the major questions or theories in two were dismissed as we don't hear anything about them anymore.

Knowing what the likely outcome of the dark energy plot was going to be, I can't say I really miss it, but overall, I do prefer to have the buildup of anything in a story go somewhere if it's going to be mentioned multiple times.

I remember that, it was interesting, but there was a major plot hole in it.

Why would, if the Reapers are trying to solve the problem of dark energy destroying the galaxy, they leave behing mass effect technology for the primitives to use?

They went away from it. The alternative they had was worse story telling wise, but at least it ended the Shepard Vs. Reapers conflict.

I try my best to ignore Mordin's burbling about the "superior genetic diversity" of humans. It'd have been nice if they'd gone somewhere with dark energy given all the foreshadowing, but if the "dark energy" endings I've heard ascribed to it had been incorporated (provided they weren't some work of fanfiction), I can't say it'd have gone over much better than the original endings... OK, so maybe not that bad...

I always think of the mentions of Dark Energy problems as a possible way to connect the two stories by perhaps it being foreshadowing not for the Reapers but whatever the next big threat is.

The threat is the use of element zero. A game about going around torching stockpiles of it doesn't really strike me as, how should I put this.... immersive.

And we'd still have asari hate.

Well, hey, I'm not much of an Asari fan myself. It's just those people who freak about them that ****** me off.

Now that I know where they were going with it...no.

As much as I didn't care for the original endings to ME3, at least it didn't turn the Reapers into misunderstood rescuers looking to save the universe from an accelerated heat death.

Back in ME2 I just thought they were planning to have the Geth Heretics create a wormhole to Reaperville out of a collapsed star.

You've got to be kidding me?

The fact that they are an imperialist, self centered, and culturally arrogant society isn't why we dislike them, its cause they are women and we are too immature to handle that.

They are one of the least imperialist governments in Mass Effect. They are technologically advanced enough to conquer the Galaxy. They don't.

Ah yes, because humans aren't self centered at all.

Culturally arrogant? Well, maybe, but they have reason to be.

Harbinger: The test of our weapon is a success. With the ability to turn stars against the vermin of this galaxy, we will finally correct our mistakes and begin anew.

Reaper 1: Yes. The time has come.

Reaper 2: I can almost taste our own evil. It's practically orgasmic.

Harbinger: I know. If I could grow goosebumps I would totally have some right now.

The asari are absolutely imperialist, not in the same sense as say the protheans, but economic domination, withholding technology from "lesser" races, allowing slaving and other illicit activity with no government oversight in order to keep profits, are all indicative of an imperialist power.

I wouldn't be surprised if other races kept information they may have gleaned from their own prothean relics to themselves, despite the penalties for doing so. There's a great deal of value in keeping secrets.
