That door has the same markings as the giant magical door in this piece of concept art.

I'm on board with it being a key to the door in the background.

It's an important part of the Crucible, +50 galactic readiness.

So, I was looking through concept art for DA:I and I came across this one. I hadn't seen it before, but I imagine that it has been discussed to death on these boards. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has an idea of what that artifact is that the soldier is holding. Those ruins have the symbol of the Inquisition on them. Is it some sort of lyrium? Some ritualistic artifact? A weapon to fight demons? Gwildor's Cosmic Key?
Looks like it's in the western approach.
Possibly something related to the ancient wardens and the second blight.

To think, they could have justified drawing the famous Orlesian hat we all know and love. With no hair, the Inquisitor's head needs SOME kind of protection from the sun.

So that is two Inquisition ruins shown in concept arts. I wonder if finding and exploring these will be a major part of the game. Perhaps the original Inquisition knew about veil tears?

I love that concept art.
If there is an actual location in the game that looks that stunning I might just have the toon stand around for a few minutes doing nothing.

Those are obviously Orlesian archaeologists trained at the University of Val Royeaux. Only they would use pickaxes trying to remove sand.

Who said those were ruins from the previous Inquisition?

They are purposefully being defiant to the Minecraft players. ![]()

stranger things have been weapons
I'm suddenly reminded of the Hoe of Destruction from Ultima VII.

No one, though the symbol looks kind of like an eye within a sunburst. That's the symbol of the Seekers, though also part of the Inquisition symbol. Those ruins look old and forgotten.

Wait a minute!!!...Now the Inquisitor is bald too?
I swear to god, I'm starting to think that baldness might play into the narrative somehow!!!

The main villains of DAI are actually sentient head lice possessed by demons.

Well these 2 places are probably not the same. Perhaps there are a series of doors marked like this throughout Thedas, these are just 2 of them.

Since the door is still closed in the picture, we must assume the 'key' was underneath some kind of Epic Ueber floormat in front of the door?

Maybe someone tried to open the door and there was a Raiders of the Lost Ark scene because they didn't do it properly, finally a sand storm covered everything up.

bioware just posts random pictures that have no meaning, or purpose.
Next time we will see Empress Celen's spoon. Do we fight darkspawn with it?

Could be the entrance to one of the Old Gods' prisons. The Grey Wardens supposedly know where they are.

I'd say it's just a sun and thus a symbol of the Maker but not specific to the Inquisition
