I love Dark-spawn, but they need to become more horrifying, not forgettable fodder.

I was actually fine with the Darkspawns' appearance in DA2.  I liked the pale flesh oozing with corruptions.  It'll be interesting to see how they look with the Frostbyte 2 engine.

They had a nice sense of...fashion.... (lol nice hat)

But its interesting to note how they can produce crossbows while only 1 third of Ferelden uses them

Unless they simply killed the crossbow wielders at Ostagar and took those weapons from them?

I think the Codex mentioned that Darkspawn don't make weapons and armour for the most part, it's ghoulified slaves that are forced to do all the work for them, so it's also possible that the crossbows were simply made by them instead?

But they do need more unique or patchworked armour and not simply spikes everywhere, as well as a mix between their DAO and DA2 physical appearances. As intimidating as Hurlock Alphas were in the first game, their armour was a little too shiny and elaborate, it needed to be cruder but still sturdy enough to let you know that they are the hardest thing on the battlefield until you get to an Ogre.

But Genlocks were awesome in DA2, I actually felt they were the only Darkspawn that actually looked better. In Origins they weren't that scary at all, but their mutant gorilla build made me dread facing them in Legacy. That was what a Darkspawn-mutated Dwarf should have looked like!
