Absolutely nuthin'!
It's a common weapon which does the job when you start playing the game in bronze. Beyond that, use others weapons, unless you want to challenge or torture yourself.
Who has soloed with it so far?
I might try it today so I can come back to this thread and brag.
I've gotten close but it wasn't with the gun really. If you can get 75 SMG kills with it I'll be impressed. It's best use is priming and holding a power modifer for your recon mine and homing nades.
Finish the challenge with it, put it away and never take it out again except by mistake.
If you just want the challenge points use a GI and play solos with it.
accuracy can be fixed , low damage pimped , but there is nothing that can be done about the half a century long refire delay and that simply kills the gun ..
IMO there is no way to use this POS "right" . Worst weapon in the game by a long mile ..
Use Explosive Ammo.
And hope to God the weapon explodes and ends your misery. 
I used it a lot on bronze/silverbasically on all my casters. I liked the most on the TSEnt with incediary ammo. It is surprisingly good vs the geth.

Volus engineer
I run it both my FQE and FQI. The synergy with their rank 6a passives reducing the cd time with the shuriken is invaluable. It ii especially vital with FQI to keep the cd low on tac cloak, due to the fact that her other abilities sabotage and sticky nades are fairly weak and do not complement each other in the slightest.
gave this more thought - the huge refire delay gives ample time to cast power and to take a melee swing .. thing is even if you do that ( need char capable of both doing respectable melee damage and survive in melee range) every other weapon in the game would do a better job than shuriken (or only every other SMG if you feel the need to field the power booster add-on) ..And you're not going to rank up many shuriken challenge points either since you'll be spiting output between power, shuriken and melee attacks ..
Ex : (from point blank) shoot warp melee throw repeat ...
or maybe just shoot throw/CS melee throw/CS repeat if there is not enough time between 2 shuriken shots

This all subjective - hard to name the second suckiest weapon in the game - just that no other weapon comes remotely close to the level of the shuriken ..

Do what Shepard did with the shuriken back in ME2, break it and take it back for a refund.
It's bad, but you must be doing it wrong too.
Agree, use it on an biotic with warp ammo, or a GI, I've done plat only with a Shuriken on an AC , AHI
