I'm bored of all these negative threads, they get wearing after a while. What are your favourite parts, or scenes from Mass Effect? What makes you smile or suddenly realise how dusty it is in the room that you need to wipe your eye?

Some of my favorite moments in the Mass Effect games...
- Arriving at the Citadel for the the first time
- Becoming a spectre
- Talking to Vigil
- Saving the Destiny Ascension
- Successfully completing the Suicide Mission
- LotSB car chase
- The end of LotSB (fighting the Yahg, Liara takes over as the SB, the kiss and reminiscing with Liara aboard the Normandy)
- Liara's romance scenes (ME1, ME3, LotSB, citadel DLC) and her time capsule
- Grunt's "last stand"...and his epic return (always gives me chills)
- The end of the ardath yakshi monastery mission (stopping Samara from killing herself)
- The Blue Rose of Ilium
- The Sword Fleet arrives at Earth
- The final goodbyes in London
- Destroy Epilogue (cheering Humans, Asari, Krogan, the squadmate slides, etc.)
- Citadel DLC (the party and the last scene)
mordin curing the genophage was one of my favorite scenes. the fact he went to the tower knowing it was the only way and to die while doing it was a great moment. that's only one i can think of at the moment. i'll try to remember others later.
The Citadel date between Kaidan and MShep. That scene was everything I wanted between them.
Some of my favorite moments:
ME1:
- Arriving at the Citadel for the first time in ME1 (totally agree with you there, Barquiel)
- Meeting the Rachni Queen and the conversation with her
- Vigil and that entire convo, along with the amazing music
ME2:
- Boarding the Collector Ship and thinking just how damn creepy the place was
- Finding out the Collectors were once Protheans
- The Suicide Mission and all its epicness
ME3:
- Conversation with Conrad Verner
- Curing the Genophage and the whole Tuchanka story arc
- Finally getting to stab Kai Leng in the gut
...many, many other moments as well. Too many to name, really.
This might sound odd, but the very end of the Thessia mission; Shep hears the Asari commando's die over the radio.
Makes me well up everytime; reminds me of a story my Gran used to tell me of how when she was a radio operator she used to hear the pilots screaming as they were shot down over Berlin as they left their mikes open and she knew there was nothing she could do about it but listen.
Weird thing.
going renegade on T'soni 5:35 too bad you couldn't talk to her like that in ME3
watching TIM kill Anderson
the suicide mission
seeing Harbinger in his true form at the end of Arrival
Samantha calling femshep "princess"
picking destroy
there are a lot more, but for the moment I'll stick with these.
- Everything from Vigil to the pursuit up the side of the Citadel Tower. "Focus on Sovereign."
- Outdoor sniping in ME1.
- Bring Down The Sky. The whole thing.
- I Remember Me
- Haestrom. The music, the setting, the environmental hazard, that sharp metallic PANG every time my Mantis struck home, picking up Tali.
- Mordin's loyalty mission
- Migrant Fleet
- The final confrontation over whether to cure the genophage. I say "confrontation" because I never reveal the sabotage in the truck. However it ends here, it's epic.
- Padok Wiks. Pretty much everything with this guy.
- Waking Javik. "They used to eat flies." Some great convos with him on the Normandy as well, even if I have less use for him in combat.
- "Right now... I have this..."
There's more. I'll list more later.
Well of the top of my my head my best moments (in no particular order) probably are:
Mass Effect: Sovereign convo, thorian (the concept, not the fight). Garrus as protege. Major Kyle mission (because it references my Torfan background). Anderson punching Udina. Ending battle; Sovereign fighting, Sovereign exploding etc. Ending- Shepard the hero. There has to be more but I'm blanking. Maybe I need to replay it, or watch replays.
Mass Effect 2: Romancing Miranda, anything with Kasumi, talking to Legion, talking to Samara, talking to Mordin, Mordin singing (deserves special mention), backstabbing that batarian captain fixing the gunship during Garrus' recruitment, making the scumbag batarian bartender drink his own poison, getting drunk, Joker's comments on the crew, Joker's quarrels with EDI,
During Jack's recruitment-
Shepard: I'm offering to be your friend. You don't want to be my enemy.
Kasumi: I'd take the offer honey, otherwise things go badly for you. Fast.
The space hamster, throwing that merc out the window in Thane's recruitment mission, leaving Jacob's dad to his savages, owning those random mercs in Miranda's LM, Blasto ad, "Newton=deadliest sonofabitch in space", "shortest interrogation ever", "there's a bomb, run!", punching a pyjack, headbutting Uvenk, "If I know Grunt your answer's coming at muzzle velocity"- "You do know Grunt!", shutting down the quarian admirals, asking about the Qwib-Qwib, the Suicide Mission (the music totally made it), the Hammerhead sections, the Sphere homage at the end of Firewalker, atmosphere of Overlord, the yahg, actually being able to solo infiltrate Arrival, shooting Kenson and wrecking her security forces.
Mass Effect 3: Not revealing the genophage sabotage until the very end (greatest roleplay experience in the series I think), Mordin epicness, "there goes the next shadow broker" line on Sur'Kesh, anything Javik says, emergency induction port, Shepard VI, Blasto movie excerpt, ardat-yakshi monastary, Geth consensus mission, Rannoch peace, talking to EDI, talking to Garrus (mostly because I can actually talk to him, no more calibrations), Garrus shooting contest, Miranda apartment scene, Miranda Citadel romance, Leviathan atmosphere and investigative gameplay, Aria's Flare, all Citadel jokes (except for Traynor's hottub scene, that was just dumb), Control Epilogue.
All: punching al-Jilani
Many of my moments have already been mentioned. All the scenes with Liara from LotsB stand out, especially the one where they kiss after defeating SB, as well as her romance exclusive content in third game. Beautiful.
The one that really got to me, however, was after defeating destroyer on Rannoch. If Legion is dead and his VI is present and you choose to let the geth die, it will say something to the effect of helping the fleets retake Earth and helping with the Crucible. And it ends with... "Please. This is not justice". For a supposed machine, there was a hell of a lot emotions in there. If there would be any doubt as to which race to choose between geth and quarians, that sealed the deal.
As well as it's final thank you and acknowledging misplaced skepticism in Shepard... beautifully done. And when the prime later expressed the sorrow for the death of creators... I really like the geth. That's why I always headcanon that they don't perish in Destroy ending.

Yes. It is.
Funny the different takeaways people get from that scene.
It really isn't ![]()
But, once again, lets agree to disagree.
Fair enough.It really isn't

'The Best'
So many to choose from. I'll begin by saying that when I bought Mass Effect I knew nothing about it other than the fact it existed. I never followed its development, I never watched any trailers, nothing. I had no idea what I was getting into. For what it's worth, I'm still playing the trilogy.
Eden Prime in ME1: Shooting a gasbag and Kaidan yelling out, "what the hell?" Jenkins getting wasted, geth impaling a guy on that big metal spike, Ashley calling them flashlights, Saren shooting Nihlus in the back, watching Sovereign take off through my sniper scope, The beacon exploding and almost killing shep. Then we went to the citadel.
I was hooked, and it only got better from there. I stayed up all night playing it, and only quit when I was falling asleep in my chair. Finished it the next afternoon and began another game right away.
ME1:
- The conversations with Sovereign (minus a particular burst of bravado from Shepard) and Saren.
- The fight on the outside of the Citadel Tower. This is just a cool looking scene from the background of the closed wards, the massive Sovereign smashing down on the tower, the music, etc.
- The conversation with Vigil.
- Noveria, working up towards the encounter with Benezia. The number of methods that can be used to obtain the garage pass, working with the scientists in Lab 15 or just kicking down the door. There are a lot of ways to interact with the game world here and it's a nice touch.
- Virmire from speeches about holding lines to uncovering the specifics of Reaper Indoctrination, this is just a fun mission.
- Wrex (Shepard.), Kaidan, and ME1 Ashley.
- The quest to find Tali and expose Saren. We get to meet some cool aliens, use some persuade options, and engage in a bar fight.
- The sky boxes of the side missions (not the actual environments).
- Shepard's shiteating grin at the end.
ME2:
- The dirty dozen.
- Level and combat design, from the presence of named boss encounters to the variation of enemy factions.
- The Suicide Mission from the music to it's final scene.
- Almost everything in this game apart from the main plot line and story.
- The M-76 Revenant, M-300 Claymore, and M-98 Widow.
ME3:
- The conclusion of the Conrad Verner arch.
- The Omega DLC
- The Leviathan DLC, minus the final conversation with Leviathan
- Grissom Academy (with or without Jack)
- Overall the Citadel DLC, especially the scene where Shepard is trapped in the vault with Wrex and Garrus
- Javik, and my bros Kaidan and James
- The conclusion of the Genophage arc.
- Cryo and Fire explosions!
A few that come off the top of my head are:
Thinking Grunt died in ME3 to then have him walk out alive.
The last conversation you have with Tali when you have her as a LI prior to the EC stuff.
When Tali boards the Normandy to leave you behind in the EC.
Curing the Genophage.
The ending to the main story of the Citadel DLC where you land the Normandy and see your crew. That music is just amazing.
The after party cut scene of the Citadel DLC. I couldn't have asked for a better send off for the Shepard Trilogy.
Giving speeches during the suicide mission the first time I did it was pretty emotional.
Giving the speech before you go off to chase Saren.
I'm sure there are plenty more, but I'd be here all day trying to remember all the awesome moments in the Mass Effect trilogy that got a reaction out of me.
ME3
'The Best'
This.
There are many others, and basically all have already been mentioned so I won't rehash them, but if I had to pick one that gets me right in the feels every single time, no matter what, it's heading back to the Normandy, post-party. The music, that specific line.....man, it's dusty in here.....
ME1:
-The short intro on the Normandy which introduces you to Shepard. I love that old Mass Effect theme that plays along with it.
-The first sighting of Sovereign.
-The Normandy's arrival to the Citadel
-The entire Virmire mission: being able to convince Wrex, Kirrahe's cheesy speech, speaking with Sovereign for the first time, having to choose who to save, etc..
-Speaking to Vigil
-The final stretch to get to the conduit in time
-The final battle in the Citadel
ME2:
-Renegade interrupts. Finally, Shepard can be even more abrupt...and sometimes deadly
-The atmosphere of Afterlife. The sound is fantastic as well
-Meeting Mordin for the first time, and just about all of his interaction on the Normandy and on missions, particularly about his soul searching during his loyalty mission
-Meeting Garrus as Archangel
-Making that batarian bartender drink his own poison
-Dismissing Zaeed's loyalty by choosing to save the workers at the refinery instead of hunting Vido, and then being able to gain his loyalty anyway
-Kasumi's heist. I loved infiltrating Donovan Hock's party, killing his guards before they could even get a shot off, and perusing his collection in the vault.
-The atmosphere of Illium. I loved the whole bustling cityscape.
-Thane's introduction. Watching him kill Nassana Dantius and her henchmen was immensely satisfying
-Meeting the biotic god for the first time. "I began to smell my greatness" lol
-Samara's theme music
-Saving David Archer
-Meeting Conrad Verner again, and then threatening to shoot the arms merchant at the car port. "I don't give a vorcha's ass about your security cameras"
-All of LotSB
-Head-butting Uvenk
-The Suicide Mission
ME3
-Combat in general, but I love the addition of the nova blast to the Vanguard
-Getting a better and more useful character than Kelly Chambers in Samantha Traynor
-Being able to interact with and befriend the person who actually takes us to the battlefield. In ME2, it's like the shuttle was remote operated or was flown by some faceless Cerberus crewman.
-James Vega. Say what you will, but I've grown quite fond of this character and the general attitude he has on the ship, not to mention his friendly banter with Cortez
-Extracting the female krogan from Surkesh.
-Javik. Seeing his memories, interacting with him post-mission, his comment about the "lizard people" evolving, etc.
-Curing the genophage (with Wrex alive. I love his line about Shepard being a champion to his people and being a "sister" to him) and Mordin humming to himself before the end
-Ending the war with the geth
-Investigating Bryson's lab. I love when a game has you searching for clues from time to time
-Encountering the Leviathan for the first time
-Fighting the CAT6 Mercs solo. This was a very nice change of pace
-Infiltrating the casino
-Fighting the clone in the cargo bay. Easily one of the most fun boss battles in the entire game
-The Armax Arsenal Arena. ![]()
-Telling the Illusive Man "Bullsh*t!". I've been wanting Shepard to say that to him for a long time prior
-Breaking Kai Leng's sword, then jabbing him in the gut
-The fleet's arrival through the Charon relay
-Seeing the Normandy depart the "Eden" planet
-Shepard's survival
ME1:
Saving the Destiny Ascension.
From the Rubble scene
I Remember Me
ME2:
"Joker, lose this channel"
"Shepard! My friend!"
Tali's loyalty mission
ME3
Citadel: Ash coming to Shepard's rescue near the start.
Javik and Shepard meeting Blasto
Grunt's description of his "birthday party"
"No, you'll find a way to beat the odds. And when you do, hero-man, I'll be waiting"
