Yeah, I know they announced that there would be straight gay and bisexual romances, but since then (due to lots and lots of speculation) there has been a LOT of noise from people worried that their favourite companion/LI isn't going to be available to them. I could see Bioware changing things up to allow people who want a specific s/s romance to not be disappointed. Those characters would still be available to those gamers looking for a straight romance (such as myself.)

As you pointed out though a 1/3/1 split does appear to be the safe route. As everyone would get a (relatively) equal slice of the pie.

Cassandra seems like a plot important companion so will probably be straight, i wouldn't really be surprised if the gay romances turned out to be npc's & the bisexual characters being the companions that are optional to recruit to make it easier to hide gay content from those players who get uncomfortable or just dislike it, to avoid any Anders style controversy.

I think they confirmed that there will be straight, bisexual, and gay LI's. Most people are assuming that it's a 2/2/2 split, but others have pointed out that it could be a 1/3/1 split if one gender has 2 bisexual options and the other one has 1/1/1. That would still give every gender/sexuality combination multiple choices as well as having a variety of sexualities.

I wouldn't be surprised to see two bisexual companions, one bisexual male companion, one gay male companion, and one straight male NPC. Although, as you pointed out, this would mean that straight females would get a slightly less equal share.

Considering the awful situation a straight femshep has in ME3, let's not repeat that.

2/4/2

Isn't it the general consensus that it's likely there will be 6 LIs though? Not 8? If so that would be more like 1/4/1.

Just go further on what DA2 did with the dialogue variances depending on gender and there you go. Straight if you want them to be straight, bi if you want them bi, gay if you want them gay.

2/4/2 is literally the only way I'll not view the SSSS as inferior to the sexually ambiguous/bisexual/playersexual/etc system.

This is absolutely the wrong approach.  It's also not going to be the case, unless Cullen is gay, since he's an NPC.

Yeah, that' really what I'm suspecting.  I think 8 is too many, so I think 6 is going to be the way they go.

I disagree. I could easily see Cass being bi. And I don't think Bioware gives a flying f*ck about people who get "uncomfortable" with gay content. They're sure as hell not gonna hide it in all gay NPCs, that I can damn well promise you.

Isn't that just playersexual though?

Or are you saying players should just headcannon their LI's sexuality?

No, it's the characters being sexually ambiguous. It's like playersexual in a way, except that the player isn't determining their sexuality.

I guess you could say in a sense the players headcanon it.

I hope so, i just remember all the hate BW got about Anders & when i heard the all bi approach from DA2 was gone i thought of the Origins way of romances, ie: straight romances being treated as more important & the non straight romances being easily missable or ignored

I personally see Cassandra the most likely to be the straight-only option. Sera is a close second though.

A lost of femshep fans were really upset about me3, and I do t think it is fair to put them through that again. They have also suffered in the straight-white-male bias that floods the gaming industry, just as the LBGT community has. Having them get less of an option, kind of negates the point of wanting equality in gaming. So I support 2/2/2 approach.

I see Cullen as more likely than Cass.

I'm talking of the female LIs. And Cullen I see as being bisexual due to being an NPC.

While it's true that DA:O had its most plot-relevant LIs as straight, I'm hoping that Bioware won't repeat that.  I think it would probably work out best if the most 'important' characters to the plot involved in romance were bisexual.

Um, what? Anders doesn't rage quit the team if you turn him down. He gains a few rivalry points - ten or fifteen, I don't remember off the top of my head. If you want to be friends instead of rivals, you can cancel the points out about fifty times over by supporting mage freedom.

He leaves the team only to show back up to blow up the Chantry and start all that mess. Total douche move.

He doesn't leave the team if you "turn him down".

You have to explicitly tell him you don't want him in the team anymore, and you can only do that in Act 2.

And if you don't want him in your team anymore, then you don't have any right to complain if his actions inadvertantly cause trouble for you.

I told him basically I didn't want to go in that direction and he walked. I didn't say leave. Just that my Hawke was already with another.

That's not "ragequitting the team".

By that logic, Isabella quit the team every time she ditched me at the Qunari compound. And yet, there she is, still available as a companion for other quests.

He gets mad because my Hawke wasn't gay and quit the team. That's what? A Gay-Quit then?

He didn't quit the team. It's phyiscally impossible for that to happen. The only time he can leave the team is in Act 2, it only occurs after a specific mission, and you have to explicitly tell him that you don't want him in the team anymore. That is the only circumstance in which he can leave the team, and that is not "quitting", that's getting fired.

I'm beginning to suspect you didn't actually pay attention to the game, and what you perceive as him "quitting" was you just not using him because you didn't want to play with the "gay" one.

This is 100% factually incorrect.  He cannot "quit" the party because you turn him down.  You are mistaken or trolling.

As stated, this is fundamentally untrue.

Given the nature of the topic, please course correct your position.  This is a warning.
