Glad to see the return to defined characters rather than the wishy washy herosexual stuff.
Yeah, screw those people who want the option to romance the LI of their choice with the gender of their choice. ![]()

Where did anyone say that they wanted to romance all of the companions? That's not what I read here at all. I read that people are concerned about having their options limited from the love interests. Two completely different things.
That's exactly what herosexual or Schrodingers Sex Dolls in DA2 were. The only reason your sibling was exempt, was, well it was your sibling.

Do you get to romance anyone in real life just because you like them? Well there you go.

Oh, so I was related to Aveline and Varric ![]()
Why not?
I'm not sure what you're asking about.

You couldn't do that in DA2 either.

Is this real life? No.
If I want real life, I'll go outside.
First off having 4 Lis available to both gendered PCs is hardly dating everyone.
But whatever. I really really just want them to say who's available to who so we can get to the squeeing part. These arguments are starting to bum me out.

Good point well it's been a while. Not sure why those two totally slipped my mind. That being the case, there is even less of an issue with NPCs only being selectively romanced.
Thankfully, seeing the shift slowly in our favor has almost been a surreal experience. Still a long way to go, but it is a turn for the good.Yeah, that can't be avoided unfortunately. There will always be people who get angry at inclusiveness. Unfortunately for them, though, the popular opinion has shifted and they are now in the minority on the issue. It will take some time, but most of them will eventually either come around or choose to keep their opinions to themselves when they don't get the support they are looking for.
Regarding the "straight guy options", I didn't find many straight guys to be upset about Traynor. I've heard a few who wish they could romance her, but I didn't see any vitriol sent her way because of it. I suspect its a combination of three things; 1.) some guys really don't mind having their options limited; 2.) even with Traynor being gendergated, there were still more options for straight guys than anyone else; and 3.) Traynor was, literally, the first full-fledged romance with a woman who they were gated from. It was a novelty to them. If in DA: I, they only had one option (or no options); then in ME 4, they had only one option (or no options); then in DA4, etc., I suspect that many of them wouldn't be as "okay" with being gated. At least that's my take on it.

On the down side, the reveal will only start new arguments.

*rubs temples*
How exactly were the DA2 Lis herosexual? Cause they weren't isabela and Zevran mentioning how much they liked to bone both genders?

It'll at least be new though.

What?
My point was romance is already limited. You can't romance everyone. The world is not player or hero sexual.

this really half makes me want 4 Lis and everyone (save bi PCs of course) get stuck with one plot relevant option. If you don't like what you get too bad so sad. (In general not towards you XD)
And at least that way they could really give each romance a wide berth of dialogue choices and reactions based off alignment decisions and race.
Oh, the leabian character being a follower.
Well, I don't see them going through the trouble of creating a romance for a female companion and then denying males the option to romance her. It's also possible there's no lesbian option at all. There could be one straight woman and two bisexual ones.
BW, generally, seems more conservative with female romance options. For example Mass Effect, the cheating/dying romance storylines were with the male companion romances. I couldn't imagine them doing something like that with Tali or Miranda. With that in mind, I'd be very surprised if they created a lesbian romance with a party member.
I just hope for more meaningful romances.
And slightly harder to reach, romances. And the lack of companions falling in love with you just because you raise your approval with them to a certain number, more option for proper dialogue here in this department aswell.
Gay, lesbian, bisexual, in the end I do not care. But I do prefer to have characters that have different sexualities, because there are characters like Fenris who I just couldn't see being gay, at all, at any moment.
Just give a proper romance.

1.) As already mentioned, there were three out of 8 companions (only counting Carver and Bethany as one) who you couldn't romance at all; 2.) Isabela and Anders are confirmed as bisexual and Sebastian is a female only romance. So that means that, at most, there were 2 out of 8 companions (1/4) from DA 2 and only 2 out of 9 DA LI's overall who have ambiguous sexualities. So......what's the big deal again?

Agreed. I may not have loved all the LI's but DA2 is the game I felt was most fair in its distribution. Because for real, if Scribbles is the NPC lesbian secretary...I just...

*There is no 'pulls own hair out emoji'. That's what I'm crying about.
I've noticed in arguments on BSN that neither supporters and detractors of the DA II method of romance seem to be able to agree with eachother whether the love interests were playersexual or bisexual. In my opinion, the notion of playerseuxality always seemed preposterous, so I considered Fenris, Anders, Isabella and Merrill to be always attracted to both genders.

Agreed. I want everyone to have as many choices as possible. This is a RPG after all, choices are its bread and butter.
As for Scribbles, I hope she is an LI.

But I wonder if BW was to ever do a heavily plot integrated romances would they do 1/1/1/1 or 1/1 I guess 1 bi male and 1 bi female alot of plot integration with lots of variations depending on race, origin and how you treat them could be delightful. The romances would have to become less of a side dish though.

I have no problem with her being an LI. I just don't want her to be the f/f only option?
It'd fit too many of the same beats as Traynor and that would make me a bit uncomfortable and irritated.
Why?
He just seemed so incredibly masculine, not looking at his appearance. Watching him forcing a male hawke up against a wall only to smooch him afterwards felt awkward to watch. I didn't have much against Anders to be honest, he had that vibe about him, but Fenris just didn't. It might just be me who doesn't really associate gay/bisexual people with dark, broody characters. It just feels so wrong to have Fenris being gay.
