I have no problem with her being an LI. I just don't want her to be the f/f only option?  It'd fit too many of the same beats as Traynor and that would make me a bit uncomfortable and irritated.

Well, if my 2/4/2 is accurate I'm hoping Vivienne will be the lesbian option.

*hugs* I feel your pain :(

But I wonder if BW was to ever do a heavily plot integrated romances would they do 1/1/1/1 or 1/1 I guess 1 bi male and 1 bi female alot of plot integration with lots of variations depending on race, origin and how you treat them could be delightful. The romances would have to become less of a side dish though.

He just seemed so incredibly masculine, not looking at his appearance. Watching him forcing a male hawke up against a wall only to smooch him afterwards felt awkward to watch. I didn't have much against Anders to be honest, he had that vibe about him, but Fenris just didn't. It might just be me who doesn't really associate gay/bisexual people with dark, broody characters. It just feels so wrong to have Fenris being gay.

Wat

Man...really? Just...really?

it's that Fenris is too mysterious~ to be bi from before release all over again.

They did say they would have bi, straight, gay, and lesbian romances. She may be a non-companion, but they did say different sexualities across the board. Although, if they dont have a lesbian character at all, then why bother with set sexualities?

Did they specify lesbian?  I remember it being "straight, bisexual, and gay characters" in response to a question about LI sexuality.

The one good point about that though is that the devs could put 4 characters worth of romance content into them. I know know not ideal but I would be interested in seeing how it comes out.

They never said lesbian as it's own, because lesbian = gay woman.

Terrifying prospect...but also potentially interesting. Forums would explode though.

They just said, 'bi, straight, gay'.

One gay male romance would make this true.

So there could be straight romance characters  :P

That's putting all the eggs in one basket. "Don't like the only LI available, well screw you then."

Is plot relevant really that important in a romance? I don't see it as necessarily a good thing. I've never done the Fenris or Anders romance but I can say that based on how they were both used in the The Last Straw and how my respective relationships with both of them turned out as is, I would have been so much happier with a romance with Fenris than Anders.

It's just you.  You have outdated ideas about masculinity and sexuality.  Gay men can be incredibly masculine.  Trust me.  There was nothing awkward about Fenris pushing Hawke against a wall to make out with him.  At all......

Right, but I guess my point was they didn't specify that there would be gay men and women.  So there could be a straight woman, bisexual woman, gay woman, and two bisexual men and that would be a variety of sexualities and everyone would get options.  Or reverse that with 3 males and 2 females.  I guess I'm just cautioning you to not expect a 2/2/2 breakdown (even if it seems likely) because they have never confirmed that.  All we know is there people will be getting options regardless of sexuality/gender and that the LIs will have a variety of sexualities.  The ratios are an unknown.

If they make it uneven, the SSSS deserved the first S even more.

True but hopefully they'd be enough varied content that you could grow to like them a wee bit even if they're not your fav this way.

I'd rather everyone have a plot relevant choice is all. Though Fenris departure from the facepalm that was DA2's plot was very nice.

Gay guys are often masculine. I mean, the gym is a gay hang out spot in my old town for a reason.

I know.  I'm just saying.  Damn me and my need to be the voice of reason!  I haven't been on the BSN much in the past week and it just seems like everyone is now talking like 2/2/2 is a done deal and I don't think it is.  I'm optimistic, but bracing just in case I end up disappointed.

Yeah, if anything, there seems to be a pendulum swing towards hypermasculinity in the gay community.  I've heard numerous guys complain that they are on the receiving end of discrimination within the gay community for not being masculine.  So, it's really, really outdated to think of gay men as "unmasculine".

This place has shown me that people develop hate for characters on a single aspect, so I doubt that they can make a universally liked character, especially a LI.

What does SSSS mean?

True I don't expect everyone to like said LI but hopefully with the expanded dialogues more would've liked them than usual plus there has to be some advantages to go along with the advantage being able to put four characters worth of LI content into 2 would bring.

Of course there'd be advantages. They are just outweighed by the disadvantages.
