Not sure if the benefit is worth the cost.  Setting this up, and the additional scripting and so forth, may not be worth it.  Especially if the existence of this ends up getting construed as allowing erasure, in which case people may not buy the game because they find it disrespectful.
 
Some people get really upset, but I'm not sure if it's significant enough to warrant extra work on our part to allow people to insulate themselves from the content.

All very valid. Elitepinecone also linked a quote from David's blog outlining this and other design considerations , such as fan confusion, testing and overall ease of use. All valid reasons to not include it as a feature.

As I often do, I'm just taking a stab at an academic discussion at why people find the very concept of such a feature offensive or polarizing. The prevailing argument I've seen before is that only homophobes and bigots would want or use such a feature , so Bioware would be better off getting rid of these fans. I was wanting to scratch the surface a little more to see if we could move beyond platitudes and stereotypes on both sides of the request.

I fluctuate on a practically daily basis about whether or not I think he'll be a LI this time around. I rather suspect that if he is, he'll be a straight option, though. Seems more likely that we'll help him get some closure on the whole Bianca thing, either by finding her alive or helping him get over her death in a platonic friend way somehow. 

 

Honestly, I'm just happy he's gonna be in the game in any capacity.

Scenario (really happened to me)

I thought a guy was friendly to me. Just another dudebro, he one day came up to me and said. You look great, I love watching you run. Care to go somewhere? I couldnt be rude for company cohesion. (Important on a battlefield). I said sorry, not interested.
Hes not the first, another asked me for a number at a bar as well. I dont feel I'm attractive enough but I guess my thinker is broken. Anyways, turned him down too. Im heterosexual, having a toggle button to turn that off, no, its them its who they are. At least I can say I'm content with myself to not go nuts like homophobic do. If you know your sexuality then dealing with these things shouldnt be so difficult.

This is the point of no toggle buttons. Its them, its who they are. Forcing them to change is by far worse than s/s hitting on someone.
Simple, just say no. Wish some could learn what no means too. Might be a little bit better of a world?


Now to catch up and sorry about this. Also, I wish for an iggie button in rl, not gonna happen. just walk away and not respond to the hater is easier. Well some I know cant be.

Hey, we have to cater to the stupid people above all else! I also suggest that we get rid of every gameplay mode above casual since someone stupid may pick nightmare on accident and not realize that it's harder than casual. That person being stupid as they are would not be able to advance in the game, it would make it unplayable for them!

 

Also exploration is hard and the stupid among us may get irredeemably lost and not be able to finish the game. BioWare should implement the glowing trail from Fable so stupid people aren't confused by "maps" and "quest icons."

Never underestimate 2 things. People's stupidity and their ability to blame anyone but themselves. But more importantly, you can't expect people who don't spend time here to be equipped to deal with things in the same way as those that are.

 

Anders was particularly bad since it drew flack from both sides. Although I never saw a problem with rivalry points since you shoot someone down , they are never going to thank you for it.

 

I didn't really like that all of the rejection options were rather hostile and standoffish.  I think one looks worse than it is (when Anders asks "Do you have a problem with that?", although the 'yes/no/unexpected' choice is there for any Hawke, it could come off homophobic as a male character), and there is a homophobic-sounding one in there, I think (oddly, it's after the heart-marked 'unexpected' choice).  Since apparently (according to something else in this thread) his romance doesn't trigger unless you use a flirt in Act 2, it might have been better if some of the less overt-sounding ones weren't marked as such. (Some don't sound that flirtatious to me, but I'm kind of oblivious.)

 

Speaking of Zevran, i really hope the new bi Li's are different then the "sex mad bisexual rogue" it's been in 2 games already & it gets really tiresome to me for obvious reasons.

I agree with this, although I think it's kind of interesting to have one of each gender, just in a 'compare people's reactions to Zevran and Isabela and use that to start a conversation' kind of way. (But we already have them now.)

 

Also, some of the talk about Zevran's lines and their level of subtlety is making me imagine interactions between Zevran and Merrill. I'm sure someone could get an interesting story there...

I was quoting the words of this one rude guy back at him to point out the ridiculousness of his argument. And you aren't who we were talking about. The straight guys who are so afraid of m/m content that they are demanding a toggle to turn it off are not just "having trouble with social cues". You might not want to jump to defend these people without reading the whole conversation.

Zevran and Isabella are interesting characters but both are bi rogue. Would a bi promiscuous mage work? Actually Im not sure I want one of those in inquisition. I wont mind cameo Zevran or Isabella for a small scene.

I did go with in DA2 having Zevran, Isabella, and Hawke running off while Aveline says she thinks she is going to go puke now. Cant remember if Varric had a line there. Pretty sure he did but dont remember. I do that on purpose just to hear her say that.

True.  I have severe social anxiety, so those kind of posts do get to me.  I know they don't mean any harm, but I get what you mean.

Leliana was bi a rogue, but I don't think she could quite be classified as open (in her love of sex) as Zev or Isabella.  Well, on the surface at least
