Not sure if the benefit is worth the cost. Setting this up, and the additional scripting and so forth, may not be worth it. Especially if the existence of this ends up getting construed as allowing erasure, in which case people may not buy the game because they find it disrespectful.
Some people get really upset, but I'm not sure if it's significant enough to warrant extra work on our part to allow people to insulate themselves from the content.
All very valid. Elitepinecone also linked a quote from David's blog outlining this and other design considerations , such as fan confusion, testing and overall ease of use. All valid reasons to not include it as a feature.
As I often do, I'm just taking a stab at an academic discussion at why people find the very concept of such a feature offensive or polarizing. The prevailing argument I've seen before is that only homophobes and bigots would want or use such a feature , so Bioware would be better off getting rid of these fans. I was wanting to scratch the surface a little more to see if we could move beyond platitudes and stereotypes on both sides of the request.
