While that would be nice, I don't see it happening. If we have to assign who will be straight, bi, or gay, Cassandra fits the straight only slot more than the other possibilities in my opinion.

She's the only character I'd have any interest in, from what we know so far, so I'll keep on hoping. Maybe once we know more about the characters (or once I actually play the game, lol), I'll find a better LI for my Inquisitor

lol agreed, I think she makes the most sense. I would really like to know how some of the rationale behind BioWare's choice of orientation for each character, and I wished that marketing would be left out of it.

I'd be okay with that too. I'm liking the looks of DHMG. It'd just be cool to get something different than the typical options (that is, an older, mature, bearded man, hhaha).

I'm not sure why everyone is so excited about specific LIs.
I was also a fan of all LIs open to both genders, and, barring that, I hope the 2/2/2 hypothesis is true, but at this point I don't see it as more than a conjecture (with a lot of wishful thinking driving it), so I take it with a healthy dose of skepticism. My reaction to male companopns is so:
1. Cullen - the only actually confirmed male LI is someone of whom I'm very leery. His anti-mage feelings, while initially sort-of understandable as due to PTSD, do not condone the murder he puportedly commits in the DAO epilogue. And even if I accept that this has been retconned, and has never happened, his statement at DA2 about mages not being people just shocked and horrified me to the core. Perhaps this is due to my backgrounds (my grandparents were Holocaust survivors, as were many of their friends, and I had stories of the Holocaust surrounding me throughout my life). Just to illustrate why that statement was so horrible to me you can listen to this small section of an interview Craig Ferguson had with Stephen Fry. That said, not a lot of Cullen was revealed in previous games, so that might not be entirly representative of him, and if they manage to present him more fully and somehow address that horrible exclamation of his, I might give him a shot. I just hope they do address that statement, and not just ignore it, or dismiss it as unimportant.
2. The other companions, we know nothing about really, beyond how they look. I don't find any of them particularly attractive. Facial hair is really not something that gets me going (something that apparently puts me in the minority, it seems), the Qunari companion's head seems too small for his body, and Solas... well... some pics he looks OK, but in others he looks like nosferatu. But that is only their appearance, one or all may have winning personalities, which will make them attractive to me despite how I now feel about their looks. It may even cause their appearance to BECOME attractive to me. hell, I initially thought Sebastian was hot. But he was so annoying I stopped seeing that.
But here's the thing: we just don't know anything about them. So how can you tell if you want to romance them?

Well, I have a few thoughts on this. We know that Cole and Leliana are out. So that means that, realistically, there are 10 candidates from the "We are the Inquisition" table shot who might be romanceable. First and foremost, I think alot of this talk comes from the way that the characters look. I'm certainly guilty of that with DHMG and is ridiculously hot fan art. So, part of it is fairly superficial. But not all of it.
As you mention, we do know Varric, Cassandra, and Cullen already, so I can understand why people are interested in them based on their personalities. Additionally, we know something about Vivienne, Sera, Iron Bull, and Dorian (provided he is DHMG) based on the bits of information that have been released or leaked. So that's 7 out of the 10 people who we know well, sort of well, or just a bit. There are really only three who we don't know anything about their personalities and they are Solas, Bearded Warden, and Scribe Girl.
If indeed DHMG is Dorian. I admit it is likely, but not at all certain. And even if true, what do we really know about him (or Sera, or the IB, or even Solas for that matter)? We know his nationality and class (I mean social class), perhaps also a tiny bit about his politics, but that's all. Not so long ago people were certain Solas was Dorian.
In the case of Solas, what do we know about him beyond his name?

Some people find them attractive is all really at least thats what the case is for me at least with Bearded Warden I find his design attractive and am hoping his personality matches sure I may end up hating or loving the guy or he may end up not being an LI at all but he would be different (design wise at least) than other DA LI's we've got before and I really hope he is one cause I'm personally getting tired of the mostly clean cut blonde/light hair men we've been given in the past games thats also why I hope Iron Bull is one too mostly because it would be different and I'm really tired of only getting either a human or an elf so variety would be very nice to have :3

But TOR gave us like one whole s/s flirt option, so we should be happy now or something.
Regarding DA, while I'm a little leery that s/s options will get equal representation, I am confident that we will at least have an option to enter into a s/s romance.

Cassandra, Cullen, Varric, and Vivienne - enough that I don't feel like summarizing it here, but there's a fair amount out there.
DHMG/Dorian - ”Dorian Pavus is a Tevinter magister. The title conjures fear of arcane master who once enslaved nations. Solas - we know that he is an expert on the fade, but that's about it, to be honest.
The descriptions of Dorian, Iron Bull, and Sera are certainly enough for us to get an idea if we think we will like them or not. Add that to their looks, it makes sense that people can base whether they might be interested in romancing them based on what we know. I don't think there's anything odd about speculation with the information we have about them. YMMV, though.

Speculation. Nothing is confirmed, obviously. Given that everything else is from the survey has proven true and he's the last unnamed mage and could fit his description (given the possible Tevinter symbols on his gear), it's possible.
