On the one hand Solas is an attractive alternative to my PC (although being torn would suck) Solas fits better because my PC isn't a huge fans of humans and IB doesn't work for this character but then Dorian would probably get on with him better so..... It would be hard to decide.

More options is always good. I am slightly aware that we have never had a straight elf companion (who is any sort of LI) even Tallis seemed to swing both ways. I guess I wouldn't go as far as to wish for less options just coz of an unfortunate trope but it would at least put an end to that stereotype.

I have a sort of soft spot for Solas, because my nickname is soulless, and since it's so similar sounding I hope (even if he's not romanceable) he's friendly enough to the inquisitor to be buds.

I wasn't aware there was any doubt about that.

I don't really get why elf LIs thus far not being straight is problematic. As far as we know, bisexuality among elves is more common than among RL people. We don't know for sure. We also have plenty of evidence that elves engage in f/m relationships (and are encouraged to do so by virtue of continuing the species).

More importantly, to me, a trend that means more inclusivity and LGB representation is a GOOD thing, not a bad thing. So I say, keep the gay/bi elves coming. There's no need to make an elf LI straight just to reassure people that "not all elves are like that!" :/ Why should every fictional race have the same percentage of LGBT people as we have in the real world anyway? Why can't one of the four races in Thedas trend toward a larger percentage of bisexual folks? I think that'd be pretty rad.

My problem was if we got a same sex love interest is was always elf and always bi, same body type.  I am happy that we see more variety and super happy we get Bull, Sera, and Dorian.  The range is nice, and it makes queer folks not limited to one race.

A part of me kind of wishes that the developers left it as six romance options: two for heterosexual or homosexual inquisitors, three if you're bisexual of either gender. Then this solves the whole "who's left to romance" debacle once and for all.

Then again, I'm definitely not gonna say no to another bi or gay companion or two, seriously. I'm guessing that Solas is bi and Blackwell's the other gated heterosexual male companion...

Ok, that's totally valid. I understand not wanting your ONLY options to be elves, but i think the solution is to give m/m and f/f players more options in general, not to make the elves straight. And thankfully it seems like DAI is giving us more options this time around! None will be stuck with only an elf. Male players have Dorian and Iron Bull, and female players have Josephine for non-elf options. (And i'm still of the opinion that two unannounced LIs are both bi so everyone will have 3 options, and if less, only due to race gating) .

Merill is Bi because she has never had the experience, so she is kinda experimenting.

I always saw Merrill as representing those who are sexually ambiguous and/or demisexual myself, but Gaider confirmed she is simply bisexual.

She could be demisexual and also bi, although I don't know if that's what BioWare intended.

Please, no.

So to bring this topic back to life.... Out of the two remaining romances at least one has to be male and if so which one do you think it will be/ want it to be and what do you think the chances are of them being bi or gay?

Also how many non straight npc's would you guys like to see in the game?

So far we got Leliana, Josephine, Possibly Celene, possibly Briala, Possibly Justinia and I guess Hawke and possibly the Warden for some.

Justinia as in the Divine? Also I never suspected she was bi myself. I remembering seeing a poster mentioning in the Cass thread that she hinted towards some kind of romantic tryst with Marjolaine in the past. I don't know if this is true or not, I never played Leliana's Song.

...I'm gonna go with unpopular opinion and disagree. Having love interest that have certain preference gives them personality. Also having everyone bi is sorta unrealistic. How can everyone you fight with be bi, just how?

Granted it's unlikely but not impossible. Stranger things have happened, but I'm glad the love interests have different types of sexualities. I just wonder if it's possible to hit on someone as the wrong gender for them and be turned down. I wonder how Cassandra would react to being hit on by a woman? Or Sera by a man?

I'm sure this is old news to everyone else here, sorry. But I just went to the wiki and didn't see any info...what makes people think Justinia is LGBT?

Ah, OK.

Based on previous instalments, there probably will be some gay characters in the game. (I mean, other than Dorian and Sera, who are already there.) Apart from anything else, it seems like Celene and Briala might show up.

Some dialogue in Leliana's song.

It is worse than losing them to death, isn't it? When the one closest to you is untrue.

Marjolaine is adept at striking where you are most vulnerable. Believe me, I know.

(the documents) were stolen from me in a moment of weakness.

I did not know why Marjolaine wanted to be so close to me. But it felt like youth.

So yeah, it sounds like she had a relationship with Marjolaine.

I understand what you are saying and maybe I'll feel different after experiencing Sera's romance but right now every time I see Cassandra on the cover of a book or magazine article I realize that no matter how hard I try not to be I'm still disappointed that she isn't available to the female inquisitors. I really don't understand it because I've never felt this way about a character not being available to me before and there have been many.

Yes, same.  I was surprised by how deeply disappointed I was.  I still kind of avoid discussion about her, even though I was so excited for her as a character before.  And I think it's because it's so rare for a character like her to be available to women.  She's the closest thing to a butch LI that I've seen.  I love Leliana, Liara, Samantha, Sera, Josephine... but they are all cute, feminine types.  Cass stood out as very different.

I feel the same way too. It still hurts and I'm afraid it will always hurt.

I'm not interested in Cassandra, I guess I luck out.  Which is good, cause not interested in playing a male again.  Robaer was enough for me.  Male noble warden.  He will always be the man, even if he was a complete bastard with few traits worthy of respect.

Lost my save for him, am so thankful for the keep so I can get his play though back.  Sadly lost it before dragon age 2 so never got to fun Hawke through that world save :(

Will you ladies provide punch and pie? :D

And yeah I would have loved for her to be available too but sadly it wasn't to be. Just like some of the guys around here who wanted to romance Sera with a male, we're all stinging a lil. :P  I actually prefer the set sexuality also even though it can be an inconvenience to how I would like to play.

Don't get me wrong, I like the set sexualities too.  It's not the system itself that bothers me.  But like I said, for women who wanted to romance someone like Cass, there isn't really anyone else like her, in this game or any other recent Bioware games.  Whereas guys were upset about Sera still have the equally femme Josephine, not to mention the many other straight and bi femme LIs.
