No, you just seem particularly attuned to hostility from your own 'team' reflecting hostility you've experienced and don't want to see it, or am I reaching?

I don't quite get what you are asking.

I was asking if that's the reason you object so seemingly indiscriminately toward any sort of hostility.

Such actions and discrimination should be fought, I can be fired for my situation with no recourse where I live because of what I am last thing I want is for this kind of thing to continue.  I have been threatened with being raped and killed for being what I am, and my own father won't recognize the real me.

But this whole thing is a human rights issue, not a gay/straight/white/black issue.  I pray for the day we all stop drawing lines and stand up for each others rights as people.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, if we actually stopped having special interest lobbying and started reaching out to other groups which includes non prejudiced straight whites we'd end this almost over night.  It is not "straight whites" (Only used because that combination seems to be recognized by all groups as the overall bad guys here, not because I have special concern for them) holding anyone down, it's all the ignorant bigots everywhere, everyones lazy care about themselves attitude, and the elite few with the money and power they don't want to lose.  I've seen blacks that scream for their rights, while in next breath bad talking gays, I've seen these kind of attitudes everywhere in every group I've come in contact with.  Not enough of us are going outside our comfort zones.  We aren't reaching out, we tend to group with people of like kind, and ignore the prejudices within our own groups.  We go to special meetings concerning our rights, and make enemies of people that share greater rights than ourselves even if it's purely happenstance in their case.  We tend to do a who has it worse pissing contest of sorts, each talking about how much worse we have it or why our rights matter more than another groups.

We do this to each other, and frankly it tears me up inside.

I know what I say bothers a lot of people, but it literally hurts me how we all have so many double standards.  I want the fear I feel each day to end, and I don't see that ending til we start trying again.  All we do is draw lines and scream for our rights and blanketly target people who happen to have more rights than us, which while it works sometimes is slow, and we're doing it in competition with each other.  I'm far from saying don't stand up for our rights, and far from saying when someone is being bigoted not to stand up and defend against them.  I'm saying we've forgotten tactics that are far more effective.  Instead of us verses them by group, it should be all of us verses bigotry and hatred.  We need to work towards unity with one goal, defend human rights, regardless of who the victim was.

If every person of all creeds that cared about human rights and ending bigotry could see outside their own group and help each other fight this battle.  White straight men that actually are bigots would be completely outnumbered and no matter how financially backed the elites power base was, they would be toppled.  If we can't do this, it's going to be a slow long climb out of this situation.  I miss leaders like Martin Luther King Jr, we haven't had anyone like him in a long time.  I have a dream, wonderful speech.

Going out and making real friends outside ones comfort zone, convincing each other to stand up for others rights regardless of creed, encouraging those who stand up for others, while discouraging hate regardless of if it comes from within our own circles, or the circles of other like groups.  Attending meetings for women's rights if you're black, gay rights if you're straight of either gender, if you're in school reach outside your clique, find friends who aren't only like you.  Spread one's horizons.

I don't think this falls only on the LGBT community (WHICH I AM A PART OF), not at all, but all of us.  And those that do it deserve the credit and not to have their contribution ignored.  I'm not a straight white male, but every time we do any type of hate towards straight white males in general we're doing a disservice to every straight white male who died because he married a black girl, or was killed by hate groups for daring to be a "******" lover as it was called back in the day.  It spits in the face of any straight white person who's ever risked life and limb to defend one of us.

Most importantly to me, it spits in the face of my boss who walked in and despite being a good old boy straight white bible thumper who should be against everything I am, and in this state can fire me for what I am without much risk, pulled that bastard off of me and made sure I was ok and firing him on the spot.  Is because of that I will never consider straight white males the enemy again.  It's bastards plain and simple, and they come in all shades.

Ah, okay.

Well to answer, it is because I have been on the receiving end of hostility from practically every group. At least several people from every gender, every race, every religion, every sexual orientation, every class, etc. has used me as their personal punching bag and abused me physically, mentally, emotionally, and/or spiritually. So when someone advocates using hostility towards someone else, no matter who the giver or receiver is, I object to it.

It can mean that with a stretch or so but it's not exclusive to that.

*snip*

While I have not always agreed with you in the past, and still do not agree with quite everything you have expressed, I don't think you will get banned for any of this? :)

I don't view straight white men as the enemy. This is a group that has the most privilege. Thats not villifying them, thats simply how things are. They can't control that anymore then I can control who I am. We all recognize that. They can however, choose how they use that position. Is it to enforce and perpetuate negative stereotypes and to keep oppressed and marginalized people oppressed, or do they stand up as allies and speak out about the ways their privilege has influenced their life, admitting that lacking that privilege has been harmful to other people.

And yes, intersectionality matters. Issues that are important to the queer community should matter to, say people of color in the same exact way that issues that are important to people of color should be of huge significance to the queer community. Standing together is very important, it is true, and we s a society do not always do a good job of remembering that.

I'm pretty sure lots the people in the thread will agree with this to at least some degree?

Er...I hope

Post what you are comfortable with, I completely understand. :) But really, I don't think you said anything even remotely ban worthy, warning point worthy etc.

I see. But... in this case, it's not toward any generalized group like "religious people" or "straight white people." It's toward the specific religious people who use the bible as a pretext for bigotry. It's a response to abuse that's already happening on the part of that group. Why isn't hostility warranted then? Turning the other cheek is nice and all, but not something you can really demand from people. People have the right to respond to the abuse they receive.

i know there are people who go too far but i dislike whenever anybody wants more exposure for women/LGBT/ etc... they get branded as SJW's & usually get made out to be the villains :?

On page 57 and catching up..

Hetero, gay, lesbian, bi, as well as others out there, should be considered optional for anyone as the best choice I believe. I don't mean just Bioware.

It's why I included the /irony. I haven't seen stuff too SJWy on these forums yet.

come on it's one of the only disney movies i can stand to watch and you're bringing incest LGBT stuff into it. Just Let it (GO!) be.

Besides, wasn't it this forum clamoring for a Hawke!Bethany romance? :^)

Wasn't bringing incest into it. Do not want that from my Disney movies. Only saying that Elsa literally does have to 'come out' in the film. And the love song is about open doors. Like...its a little gay.

Nobody is bringing incest into it.

Also why the hell would you had problem with LGBT? I don't see you saying the same with Anna doing hetero things with some of the males. Oh wait, it's straight so it's ok!

The only one mentioning Hawke/Bethany romance is you tbh.

I will have to watch Frozen for sure. I couldn't watch it past the intro song cause it annoyed me. I will give it a shot again and ignore the first song. :)  If I get into the mood for that type of music, I would be fine. If it was hard rock, I would of watched it easily. :)

This straight white male doesn't have issues with LGBT (Q should be added? I still find that specific word being derogatory so will let those that are use it and not myself still.) I support and wish for equality and representations. Doesn't mean I may want to watch two men kiss, tbh, but they should be allowed too.

Batman and Superman rumor of kissing only bugs me cause it doesn't seem to fit who they are but at same time, they actually have a love-hate relationship that could justify it to me.

Children shouldn't be sheltered away from same-sex relationships if they are not being sheltered from opposite-sex relationships. I wont have any at the rate I am going, but if I had them, they would been allowed to see choices are open for anything.

Puppylove,  sorry to hear your father is that way to you, but honestly, am very glad you put that post back in. Thanks. :)

EDIT: I did defend one lesbian against a man. He said to her, if she was in his country (Africa), she would of been shot. To me, that made me think he would of killed my friend for being who she is. I don't care for that type of action and glad that guy was dealt with that tried to mess with you.

Jesus there is no reasoning with you people. Just drop it.

I have to say rereading the original OP of this post is really weird. Poor grammar and begging for more romances, seems like an underage kid wanting more smut.

My main problem is I've been trying to say the same thing and doing a bad job of it, with it always coming out wrong, and keep getting frustrated and banging my head on the keyboard trying to get it right.

And I'm glad you defended her.  As bad as things are here, it's scarey what it's like is some other places.
