Does anyone watch Game of Thrones. I am not fond of the books (they are okay), but I have formed a Peter Dinklage fanclub that consists of me and I watch it every Sunday. I was also kind of obsessed with Borderlands 2 for a bit, then Saints Row 4, but now I play nothing.

Does anyone watch Game of Thrones.

I watched the first season. Although I fast-forwarded through a few scenes (not a fan of the non-consensual/incestuous scenes nope nope.)
I just found it either gross/annoying/sad/disappointing most of the time, to be honest. Just not my thing (not judging.)
I was more into Breaking Bad at the time.

I started reading the books because my brother wouldn't stop rec'ing them. Currently 1/3 way through the first one...

...I am not enjoying it all that much and will probably never watch the show. There's constant gross abuse and nigh masturbatory, misogynistic gratuity every other page -- and the show is supposedly even worse in parts? It would simply not be enjoyable for me.

I do like Tyrion. His actor did an AMA on reddit last week.

It's hard for me to parse show vs book feelings.

 

I read the books before there was ever a glimmer of a show, but haven't enjoyed attempts at re-reading them since then.

 

The show adds a lot of extra grossness and dumbs down certain plot points, but on the other hand I find it more viscerally enjoyable because it's well-cast and the actors' performances are much more expressive than Martin's prose.

i liked it a lot before i realized what ptsd was and weird coping mechanisms, not sure how another read through would go.  i'll watch it if a friend puts it on, but i haven't gone out of my way to download it like i do other shows.  i'm really digging hannibal and parks and rec, of course...

 

still kinda like true blood, too.

 

i hate american horror story it is the most disgusting of them all

 

oh, and about got vs asoiaf: i heard one scene got changed from vaguely weird to full on character changing rape and that's not cool why even do that
