What if you cant close the rift, and the ending is where flemeth makes it permanent to fulfill her goals.

Well, depending on how the game plays out, that'd either be the Fail State--the equivalent to Liara's message warbling away to itself at the end of the extended ME3--or there'd be two endings.  But given that Flemeth was so keen to save Grey Wardens and stop a Blight, I'm pretty sure her intentions, whatever they are, don't involve the end of the world in Thedas, which is what we are told the Rift is going to bring about.

let's wait and see if they can deliver more than just one ending with slight variations first

lol it was just an example everybody! although would still want a wedding cut scene  ^_^

Me too, and babies. (As an option of course, no need for anyone to get worked up) Even my gay characters need to adopt babies. Have all the babies!

I think there will be one ending to close or heal the tear and depending how this is achieved and what choices are made in the game will be the different endings.

Flying elf girl, and the baby became an inventory item. (You couldn't sell it.)

Outrageous. If I want to sell my e-baby, I should have the option!

How many do we really need? One.

How many do we want? Multiply the number of options of all decisions you want to affect the epilogue, then subtract incompatible combinations. The result: probably more than 1000.

How many will we get: Significantly more than one, significantly less than 1000.

Also, anything family-related should be kept out of the ending completely. I'm allergic to the prevalence of family stuff in stories (though Hawke's story was actually good in that regard).Using family stuff as story hooks when other hooks are screaming for attention is, as I see it, one of storytelling's original sins. I prefer things like that to be left to players' imagination.

i want to see a bad ending in one of my PTs. you can never get really bad ending in games.

i want demons pouring from the sky, undead running rampant, chantries burned down, templars slaughered, mages bound by qunari, priests converted. i want to see dwarves loosing the final battle to the darkspawn. i want to see tevinter slave hunters in dales, fallen kingdoms and nobility in chains. i want magisters to enter black city again. i want to see arishok and black divine facing each other on the field, fighting over corrupted lands

you know, just for fun :)

I'd like to see an ending like that, though I imagine such an ending would have to be treated like the bad ending of ME2, in that it cannot be imported into future titles.

That would make a great movie. Somebody get on the phone to Peter Jackson's people, stat.

Game?  Not so much.

as KaiserShep told/wrote - they did it in ME2. you cannot use that save tho in ME3, i think it's perfect solution. you're dead - you cannot save the world. here, use a Shepard's clone (Tim's idea, just in case)!

they did something similar in ME3 too, the ending in which Shepard pretty much tells "do what you will, i'm done with this sh...". i'd love to see more destruction/panic/horror but i'm content with Liara's time capsule thingy ;)

why not in DA?

Three endings would be great.

yes, the mages survived with our love one, destroying the templars who opposed them and destroy the evil thing

yes, the templars survived with our love one, destroying the blood mages who opposed them and destroy the evil thing

and third which would be my favorite, we found a group from both mage and templar fractions who worked together to destroy the evil thing and we survived with our LI.

An optional sacrifice one is ok as long as there is a survived with LI ending to balance it.  I did do the sacrifice in DA:O but not often.

I'm not interested in my character ending the game pregnant or married, though having the conversation would be nice,  - where do you see us if we survive?  Together on that farm with 12 kids running around?  Sounds great, lets kill that whatever it is and get started.  Or I see us rebuilding or traveling or just growing old together, or I'm sorry, it's been fun but I don't see us in a long term relationship.   As long as it's not forced I don't really care.

I'm sure one or two will be too busy for a LI and most of my characters don't believe in a ritual for their lifetime partnership while none would want kids. But a few would probably enjoy talking about their future together.  Playing DA:O again and I had forgotten how sweet it was when Alistair and my warden talk about the future.  But I don't need the actual wedding or seeing my character 7 months pregnant.

More than that is extra icing on the cake and I do love icing.  I don't expect 40 completely different endings, but a range of endings would be interesting.   Let my endings reflect what choices I've made so I can play again and make different choices.  I did enjoy ME2 a lot because I could get a different death toll, including the everyone survived option which I did probably twice in all the time I played.

I'd be happy with one.

If it was an ending where my character and LI survived sure, one would be fine.  But I know there are a lot of people who would want just a sacrifice ending and if that were the only option I won't buy it.  Yes I am :"that" person.  So at least 2 endings one survive and one sacrifice.

How many endings do I want?  As many as they're comfortable with providing.

How many do I need?  Just one that I find worth achieving.

As many endings to last us enough play-throughs until the new Dragon Age comes out.

The rumor that there will be 40 endings is untrue. Bioware said that there will be hundred of small differences, about 40 major differences, and only a few entirely unique endings.

That sounds awesome, but if that happened that would mean your inquisitor failed at their job or did the exact opposite of what their job was supposed to be because the inquisitor is supposed to be the one to calm the chaos.

An ending to a story for me depends on how appropriate it is. This depends on the themes, motifs and ideas presented through the game.

The past two Dragon Age games seem to levy a lot on discrimination and racism. Can't truly say that their respective endings really reflect upon them, but I didn't really have any problems.
