Are they all mages? Clearly the one we encountered could do some magic.
They are spirits of the earth, so I assume their magic is restricted to the physical world, but that doesn't mean that they are actually mages themselves.

The Lady in DAO had nice hair. Long hair, as well. I wonder if that'll make its way into the design of new dryads in future DA titles.
No, because people are sick of the same arguments over and over again until it gets too heated the thread gets locked. So yes, please.Drop it.
Back on topic. I found the art design of the Lady to be rather fascinating. The Dryads I see are normally part animal. So part tree was a interesting look.
I dropped it when I made my initial post. Blame other posters for picking it up again.

I would like to see some variety among the different dryads, depending on where we find them. I bet in an enormous forest, like in the Dales, they'd be much more powerful.

I don't even watch Avatar yet I'm still compelled to call DA's dryads earth benders now

Also I wonder if it depends on how they come into being. Special case was DAO's Lady.
Yes, the Lady of the Forest is our version of a dryad. There are other dryads, though not all of them are as benevolent.
Your version of a dryad? What exactly separates your version from everyone else's version of a Dryad?

First of all, you need to rectify that.
But Dryads would be more a mix of waterbenders, which includes plant manipulation, and earthbenders, who can manipulate the actual terrain and cannot control plants.

See, this is how you can tell
Haunted Forest? And yes, I bet we'll see some in the game. Maybe somewhere like this?
The great thing about this kind of art is that they can actually replicate it in-game technically now. The lighting didn't allow for much shadowy spookiness at all in DAO. Every area was brightly (or at least evenly) lit through the magic of needing to see where you're going in the Deep Roads.

Good point. She was bound to a mortal form forcibly, as opposed to maybe crossing the Veil naturally, or simply already existing in the natural world. She was also only about a century old, so perhaps in the Dales, where the forests have existed for millenia, the dryads would be much more powerful due to their extreme age.

It's gonna look gorgeous in Frostbite.
Gonna laugh if there are dryads accompanied by werewolves in a later game and Morrigan goes, "...nope" and just walks away
See, this is how you can tell
Haha, definitely look into it. If nothing else, the bending combat is spectacularly animated and always so badass.

It would also be interesting to see one that isn't as kind as the Lady of the Forest, like David suggested. An angry dryad? Oh yes please. ![]()

The part of the PAX demo in the cave when they grab the blue magic fire...
so pretty.

I don't know, we'll see. The concept art looks more like something I'd expect in Amalur than Thedas. But hey, new engine, new look(for the third time). We'll see!

Sorry I am confused, did Gaider not just call her a dryad in the very post I quoted?

And I'm gonna bet some are not pleased about Orlesians lol

LOL Yeah, I can imagine so.
I wonder if the dryads are the reason that the forests in the Dales grew so much.

No, I'm saying that that is the difference.

The sylvans might have had something to do with it too. I'm liking your theory over here.

It would be interresting to have to fight her unless your an elf .
