More of them? Someone go tell Treebeard: We've found the Entwives!
(Also I can't contain my want of Volume 2 of World of Thedas. )
Yes, the Lady of the Forest is our version of a dryad. There are other dryads, though not all of them are as benevolent.

Dryads in Dragon Age: Inquisition?
We'll see
Really? It's bizarre to see more naked, green, forest-dwelling women in a pseudo-medieval fantasy series?
Seems like they're a pretty common occurrence, to me. It's almost like the entertainment industry is a straight male-dominated machine that exists purely for the production of naked ladies.
Long Live the Patriarchy!
Also, they can't be worse then the Dalish.
More Lady of the Forest and please, Sir of the Forest too.
Forest naked people? Great ![]()
Now I can't wait ![]()
OMG yay! I loooovvveeddd The Lady of the Forest in origins. One of the best characters in the game.

Cy hopes the Inquisitor will eat them...being plants and all
Ahh yes, this thread.
Would like to hear more about DA dryads.
Ehh, sadly I'm not too enthused by this one. The Lady of the Forest/Witherfang arc in DA:O was cool, and all the cooler for never being fully explained. Turning her into a distinct creature type that'll appear again (and again...?) seems like it could take away a lot of the mystique and uniqueness of that character.
Hopefully that doesn't happen, of course...
That's one of my favourite parts of DA:O right there. Very glad David Gaider did all that work. The voice over was great too =) I wanted to keep talking to that tree forever, it was so soothing~All i got to say is if the tree's start talking like the grand oak am all for it

I believe the Lady from DAO will remain unique in who she was and how she came to be.
The other dryads will likely have different explanations. They can't all be linked to werewolves.

Yup she was bound into a body of a great wolf, don't think many ladies get taken out of their forests like that or would be a lot more weres.
That very first image in the OP reminds me of Flemeth for some reason.

I take it you couldn't bring yourself to select "I'll make you dead if you keep up the puns."?

Or maybe they are just based on actual creatures of legend called dryads.
But don't let that stop you from tilting at windmills.

Or barking up the wrong tree.

I guess it says a lot about me that I've done 6 playthroughs, yet I don't recognise that dialogue option. ^^I take it you couldn't bring yourself to select "I'll make you dead if you keep up the puns."?

Like, don't ask me? I'm not the one who feels the need to go out of their way and trample other people for critiquing unnecessary female nudity?
Nudity is never pointless.

I just going to come right out and say it:
I would gladly burn two Dalish Clans to the ground to get the Grand Oak as a companion/advisor/agent in DA:I ![]()
Oh wow, Grand Oak as a companion. I can see David Gaider stomping his feet in frustration, but oh I'd love him for itI just going to come right out and say it:

I don't think the Grand Oak would ever work as a companion, despite being one of the more awesome side characters. The rhyming is cool only because its in small doses. I think it a lot of people would find it annoying if you had to listen to that for an entire game, even people (like myself) who would list the Grand Oak as one of their favorite non-companion characters.
Doesn't this sort of thing predate the entertainment industry? I think you need to go bigger here -- blame Western Civilization, or maybe human nature itself.
The thing is that not even Western History has such a monolithic personification of forest entities as naked women with plants covering their genitalia and secondary sex characteristics. Greeks represented sylvan entities in many ways including fawns, who were obviously male, and in celtic areas the Green Man and other forest entities were male. Many sylvan deities are male. Really, the issue is that certain people have fixated on female-looking entities now, and it probably has to do with our current culture and the culture of video games in this moment.
Why must a genderless, inhuman thing like the forest have to be feminized/sexualized? What did having the Lady of the forest look the way she did add to her character that would be missing if she was never anthropomorphized? These are questions that should really be asked instead of resorting to defaults.
In the case of the Lady of the Forest/Witherfang, it was an aspect of duality. She was the Lady, who was benevolent and this was encoded to us as a naked woman, and she was Witherfang, a violent creature presented to us as male. The Lady was actually the two things at once and was more hermaphroditic than female. Granted, I think they could have made that more apparent by not having the Lady form be so obviously humanoid/female, but unfortunately, an easy way to add impact to storytelling is titillation, and thinly veiled nudity is a means to do that.
