I don't think the Grand Oak would ever work as a companion, despite being one of the more awesome side characters. The rhyming is cool only because its in small doses. I think it a lot of people would find it annoying if you had to listen to that for an entire game, even people (like myself) who would list the Grand Oak as one of their favorite non-companion characters.
Oh I don't know, I think the fact that he would be speaking in rhymes while he is crushing the life out of some Red Templars, or Blood Mages would make the potential issues worthwhile.
Grand Oak: (While crushing an opponent) Struggle all you want, it will not save you from me.
Grand Oak: Let me count the bones as they break. (Crack!) One (Pop!) Two (Crunch!) Three!
In all seriousness, I would think that a Sylvan agent would make for an excellent watcher/spy for what is going on in the forests around my strongholds; who is going to expect the trees to be the lookouts of the Inquisition?
