I don't think the Grand Oak would ever work as a companion, despite being one of the more awesome side characters. The rhyming is cool only because its in small doses. I think it a lot of people would find it annoying if you had to listen to that for an entire game, even people (like myself) who would list the Grand Oak as one of their favorite non-companion characters.

Oh I don't know, I think the fact that he would be speaking in rhymes while he is crushing the life out of some Red Templars, or Blood Mages would make the potential issues worthwhile.

Grand Oak: (While crushing an opponent) Struggle all you want, it will not save you from me.

Grand Oak: Let me count the bones as they break. (Crack!) One (Pop!) Two (Crunch!) Three!

In all seriousness, I would think that a Sylvan agent would make for an excellent watcher/spy for what is going on in the forests around my strongholds; who is going to expect the trees to be the lookouts of the Inquisition?

Hey look! Weirwood trees in Inquisition! Except they're brown bark with green leaves, instead of white bark with red leaves.

In Zimbabwe (Africa), we have myths about mermaids kidnapping children who swim in specific waters and torture them with tests. Male ones are ruthless and appear in the form of whirlwinds outside of water. Female ones are playful...in a dangerous way... and appear as giant snakes (most times half snake half woman) outside of water.

I believe the Lady from DAO will remain unique in who she was and how she came to be.

We'll see, I guess.

The other dryads will likely have different explanations. They can't all be linked to werewolves.

That's true, but it's not really the werewolf side of that arc which I was concerned about, but the whole Spirit of the Forest thing. In DA:O the Lady was explained to be the spirit of the forest given form -- specifically not a Fade spirit.

So what was the Lady, before (and after) she was separated from Witherfang? An amorphous concept? A nature spirit? Could she have come into physical existence herself, without being coalesced by another entity? Does every forest have one (or more)? Only forests? Is she a creature apart from the 'Dragon Age version of dryads', or is she being codified as a repeating creature type?

People have run out of things to talk about and they're bored?
