Steve Valentine's delivery is the main reason I even liked hearing what Alistair had to say. He breathed life into someone who would've been completely uninteresting to me otherwise. I give props for that. Outstanding VA to character match there.
Characters you dislike for no good reason?

Most don't like wynne. Too preachy.... and possessed. Where's a bus to throw her under when you need one?
Now Alistair, he really needed a much larger cameo in DA2. Steve Valentine's voice alone is just too awesome to not keep him in the whole series. I know he grates on a lot of people (Alistair the character that is), but .... STEVE VALENTINE.... LOVE HIM
Yeah, I was disappointed with Alistair's small cameo in DA2. Mostly because he's my favorite character in DA:O. He deserved more than a five minute convo with Hawke... ![]()
I actually like Wynne. I mean, yeah she ca be preachy sometimes, but she's one of the nicest characters in DA. We need more nice characters like her.

Yeah... Seems like they tend to be one of the lesser liked characters. I mean, why couldn't it be someone like Alistair or Wynne?
On Wynne specifically, she got her time to shine in Asunder. Shale was in there too, good ol' Shale.

Which makes up for the fact that I cannot stand Morrigan but adore Claudia Black. I watch farscape just for the awesomeness of her being a great female warrior and the cuteness of her with Ben Bowder. What a great couple they are!

More like two minutes if he's a warden but I prefer his warden cameo especially if you were a female who romanced him and lived. That, to me, is the best cameo of them all. He's so 'alistair' there where in the others he is not really himself... sort of out of place or not really happy or joking. But that cameo is just adorable.
I seemed to tick off Wynne an awful lot. None of my characters appreciated her tone, her patronizing BS or holier than thou attitude.

She's the left hand of the Divine. You can't just avoid not having her around in these stories. Especially one about a revived Inquisition.
She might have always been a Seeker too. She's got a knack for deception. And I think they had her whole Seeker role planned out long ago.. her origins with Divine Justinia in her DLC kind of point to it. And her amulet in DAO (Seeker's Circle).
The fact that they made it possible to kill her in DAO an later had to retcon that death ("the Maker knew it was not my time". Ugh) says otherwise. Somewhere between DAO and DA2 they decided she needed a greater, shiny role. That alone makes me dislike the character and their insistence to use her. If they have great plans for a left and of the Divine, good. But they could have used a new character in her place. Orlais is filled with bards and spies. Leliana was never the only one.

I think they might've fallen for Corrine Kempa. She was unknown when they first wrote anything. Maybe the performance brought the character to life in a way where the writers regretted some of the murder options.
Same goes for Oghren. He'll come back in Awakening, despite what you do. He'll just say he woke up naked and compliment you for trying to kill him. lol

Replaying Origins now and I just noticed that name.

She also has some banter with someone, where she says her method of stealth is to be right out in the open and blend in, as if she belongs somewhere.
She puts all her cards on the table, and yet we're still duped. She's always been a Seeker.

I suspect they just didn't expect a lot of people to kill her or they really wanted to play up the maker didn't want her to die thing. Remember, that's her schtick. She joins you because the maker told her to. Ah well.... she's one of those believers. Nobody really is going to believe that she did come back to life as she was out of your game if you killed her. But they want to work that angle.
Liara was plot armored and I think Leliana is the Liara of DA series. I think now that she also might have been planted there. I wouldn't be surprised if we later learn that she only said she was in lothering for that long but really she was sent there once they knew the blight was coming to work as a spy in the chantry and learn what she could about the blight, perhaps assess the situation, maybe see how things were going. Lothering is the first town after ostagar. You had to go through it in the game to get anywhere else. That's an excellent position to gather intel without getting into ostagar which she could never do with her accent. I've been wondering about this for a bit now though. It was all too perfectly laid out. Now I don't think it was planned that she would end up with the wardens, but funny how she is part of the chantry and yet you meet her in the tavern where loghain's men are looking for the warden... she says she had a dream. I say she had orders. She works her way into your group and now she can learn whatever she needs about things as they progress which is pretty much everything relevant that is going on in Ferelden. Then she reports back.

In any case, that DLC (Leliana's Song) has the Reverend Mother who helps her... and that Reverend Mother turns out to be none other than Divine Justinia herself. So Leliana is connected with Justinia far before the events of DAO take place. She's obviously working for her by the time we meet her.

I never played the whole DLC. Got bored with it after she met the sister but wasn't aware of all the details. Makes a lot of sense now.

Well.. just to clarify, the Reverend Mother is just that at the time. She eventually becomes the Divine. But even back then, she was helping Leliana out, knew her background with Marjolaine, and sees her strength in resourcefulness and whatnot.
Not that any of it is a bad thing though. It seems like Justinia is a decent person. She doesn't encourage violence or anything like that. I just think she's found a place for Leliana as the "left hand" to play the part of the Rogue. While Cassandra is the hardass warrior, at the right hand.
