So my question is who was/is the best BSN regular or "celebrity" (I cringe at that term btw) you have had the pleasure to game with?

<snip>

You mean pick the best player you've played with?

I can't answer that - people have good and bad days, and play differently with different kits, on different maps with different factions, lag, the weather...

Depends what you mean by "best" - finishing matches fastest, giving everything for the team, having a particular stylish way of playing, being friendly with melee greetings and on the mic...

I don't rate killing speed as "best", because anyone can turn it on when they want to, with the right character and equipment to compete for score.

Everyone has a different way of expressing their personality in game, so I can't compare between and rank them. Certainly all the players I would mention here are more than capable of scoring heavily and carrying matches - probably goes for most people on this forum.

I don't generally notice anything about someone's gameplay until I've bled out on them multiple times and made them carry me, so...people that've left a lasting impression:

TMB903

Pint_Glass_Hero

Max Dmian

Mobius Y

FatherOfPearl

Knockingbr4in (sorry about those duos)

People that I truly have enjoyed getting to know and play with is a separate list entirely. I'd make the thread but I'm pretty sure the mods are looking for any reason to ban me at this point.

I know that feel.

@Curunen, yup the best player you gamed with is what I'm getting at. Lots seem to have difficulty deciding which is understandable.

As a rule, I don't answer questions like these, 'cuz I sort of see them as flame-bait (NOT THAT I'M ACCUSING YOU OF ANYTHING CRIM NUH UH NOT ME.)

But this one actually has an easy answer: Grim_AoD.

Jeez you're so suspicious lately!

Well.... actually..... :P

Nah, that sounds sucky... is it really that bad?

Back OT, I'm not sure what/who I would consider a celebrity so I wouldn't know if I have.... GrouchyBlackMan is probably the highest rated person I've been in-game with... and I've not seen him on the forums. That said, I've been sort of absent for a quite a while and only recently started commenting again so it could be that I've just not seen enough people around yet! :)

If you like this game on XBox and consider that your main system/favorite controller, there's really zero reason to play it on PS3 except for the company of some of the fine folks here and met on PUGing adventures.

And I say that as someone who considers PS3 their primary (and original) "home" on this game. But having also played this on PC (which I consider a world of their own and, therefore, not something to compare with console experiences) and having just recently started this on an XBox, PS3 simply got the worst reproduction of the game.

Honestly, did not notice a gigantic difference in load screen times on PS3 vs XBox, IMO. However, I can fire up my XBox and play for an entire afternoon without 1) constantly rebuilding the lobby because of getting stuck on the "waiting for other players" screen, 2) constantly rebuilding the lobby because of needing to reboot after every 4th/5th game to avoid major framerate drops/potential freezes (and that's not always 100% surefire), 3) having to set the enemy for a Gold lobby and rotate the original three because of fear of Collectors freezing/bricking my system (so, goodbye U/U/G), and 4) haven't had any problems joining lobbies or people joining mine on XBox, whereas there are some people I can never connect to on PS3 and have to have a mutual friend host for us.

All that being said, I still love my PS3. It's my home, it's where my most unlocked manifest is, it's where all my old school OG friends are, and I flat-out think the controller is superior - for my hand comfort level. But you get less games completed in an afternoon than on XBox due to all those reasons above, largely the whole having-to-rebuild-the-lobby thing A LOT.

Is it really that bad on PS3? I have the game on all 3 formats, but my preference for MP is Xbox as I prefer the controller, it feels nicer than the PS controller *imo* :) But if there were enough players on PS3 it would be worth me playing on there sometimes... :)

As far as the OP goes... we have BSN celebrities??? Well... I never knew.... I just thought we were all gamers ;)

Smaller community but we have some terrific players here, I haven't even got around to playing with some of the regular ps3 players here myself. I don't like the feel of the ecks bawks controller myself, got lil hands! :P  Its just too big and clunky for my liking, I much prefer the ps3 joypad.

Oh yeah we got em, they just won't admit it!

Ah, thanks for that, that's useful info and I appreciate it...

FWIW... I love my PS3 too ^_^ spending lots of time playing the FFX remaster atm on it. I do agree that on PS3 ME is not *quite* the same....

And I pretty much have only played about 5-8 times on PC in ME3 and that was waaaaaaay back with SystemlordBaal.... (because I suck on PC and he seems to find it amusing...) And that keeps us OT too ;)

I have small hands too, it's the shape of the controllers I was referring to :) I think the MP experience is also that I have waaaaay more friends on Xbox than PS3 and RogueState only plays on Xbox and he's the person I mostly kill s**t with! Lol... I probably need to make more effort on PS3 lol... but my rank is sucky and no unlocks on there yet either....

Oh hahaha.... well that still leaves me wondering who they are... would they be people who were very active on the old forum? :P

Well played sir.

He's such a Dark Souls star now with his YouTube channel.. he's ascended. You know how I actually found out about his channel? My kid was watching a 'Top 10 Dark Souls Rage-Quits of the week' video.. and I heard the commentator say, "Number 10 on our list is brought to you by DKS Nexus..." and I did a double take. True story.

This... this made me laugh.

Fair enough, lil hands unite!!!

As for BSN celebs here's an example from the mustard race, Zjarcal, regular poster here from ye olde BSN and a vet of the game. She won't ever admit this though, just own it Z! :P

I'm sure if there was a dislike button function here this post would be flamed. If I moved to PC I'd get her to sign something!

So if all our favourite BSN celebs were teen fangirl icons, who would be Harry Potter, Edward Cullen and The Doctor?

@Curunen, yup the best player you gamed with is what I'm getting at. Lots seem to have difficulty deciding which is understandable.

So the only two concrete factors being - score and match time?

Still can't pick one.

Not mentioning any names, but like most players I've had matches where I've heavily outscored well renowned bsn "lolcelebrities", and equally matches where my performance was totally abysmal and other bsn "lolcelebrities" have heavily outscored me. And then other matches - whether duo or more with extremely tight competition for score finishing in extremely fast times for non-speedruns.

Nevermind "lolcelebrities" playing different characters/builds to varying degrees of effectiveness compared to other players - on different days with different maps/factions/difficulties.

Should we measure it then as versatility in characters - whether a player can play every single character to a higher overall level than most players? Or whether a player can play one or two characters extremely well compared to most others?

How about niche builds - if a player can succeed in taking something not very effective and doing better than those using "viable" builds?

People can do some crazy things in videos, or even in game, but what one player does that is unique, another player may not be able to succeed with - while they would be skilled in some other way.

Not wanting to be annoying ( :) ) - but in all seriousness it would not be fair for me to name one player as "the best" - I should name all the good players stating their particular strengths.

Hmmm I don't think our paths have crossed.... but as I say I've been pretty quiet for a quite a while.... Mostly communicated with my friends on here RogueState, SystemlordBaal, Nightodie, Aslanasadi were pretty active on the old forums :) I guess there are a lot of people I still need to get to know... have to stop being so insular :P

See... I don't get flaming... if I don't like something I just move along lol :D

Although I agree, you might still have an opinion about what makes a player better than another one at this game. It would be your personal opinion and others would not agree mostly, but that's what Crim is asking I guess.

Me, I tend to measure skill as how much a certain player helps a game go faster. So, how much faster will the match be if that particular player's in the lobby. A way of measuring like any other...

Fair enough - so we can choose our measuring standard.

For me it would be skill in playing unique or difficult builds - perhaps with weaker equipment/weapons or less effective powers/melee, and execution of the tactics associated with that build in a match - both in technique and style, like scoring some gymnastics routine.

I don't spectate much, and this really needs to be seen from the point of view of the player in question - easiest to judge from recorded videos. Given only a small percentage of players make videos, this is unfortunate because there are no "style points" awarded in the game.

Who is/are the player/s that left you gaping in awe at how fast he/they would murder anything on the bloody map?

I haven't played with several of the higher profile PS3 players, but playing games with either TMB or Cato is just hilarious at times - getting half their score is a genuine achievement.  Adrenaline III or GTFO!

As a teammate, I have to give a shout out to FireRider100, who exudes a zen-like calm and is always there when needed.  I have also studied that sentence closely to make sure that no sexual innuendo can be inferred.
