Should Loghain Live or Die?

So recruit sgr. Kailon or however you spell his name. Cuz in the game he was much useful than Loghain. Or that knight in redcliff. Why does it have to be Loghain when there are people out there who are better candidates than what we've seen of King Loghain in the game.
Blame Riordan for that. He's the one who suggested it, and Anora added significant political pressure to make it happen.
If Riordan hadn't suggested that Loghain be recruited-I'd have liked to see Cauthrien made a Warden. i'd think she'd be a good one.

Whether you do or not-you can persuade/intimidate her to let you through at the Landsmeet. You don't have to fight her.

well first of all there is no King Loghain
There is - in the mind of Loghain's errand boy Imrek (until you set him straight about a few things):
King Loghain demands the allegiance of the deshyr or lords or whatever you call them in your Assembly! I am his appointed messenger.
King Loghain will not suffer the delay of his appointed messenger!
The Wardens killed King Cailan and nearly doomed Ferelden! They're sworn enemies of King Loghain!
In the name of King Loghain I demand that you execute this... stain on the honor of Ferelden!

@Althix No King Loghain? Well im sure his major lackeys who were trying to steal some noble's lands and his diplomat in front of orzammar just made that up.
Weak and pathetic? Well.. that's Loghain is in the game.

this is why that errand boy is dead right? besides "King" word can be used to inflict pressure on dwarfs. Which is useless, but you know...
well if Loghain is weak what can you say about Alistair? Loghain is simply superior. not for much, but still.

Well, she's not actually killed in the manor, not unless you kill her entire party as well. I like to knock her out in the manor , take her sword, then let the rest of her party take me out and take me to Drakon. I then escape, and persuade/intimidate her down at the Landsmeet, because you're really going to need someone to run the Fereldan Army.

well of course you kill entire party. you don't expect my warden to run away or surrender aren't you? Besides if you surrender Sten will be sad.

Does Ser Cauthren also calls the male wardens churl or just the females? Ive always wondered cuz I dont play male.Blame Riordan for that. He's the one who suggested it, and Anora added significant political pressure to make it happen.

Superiorly useless you mean. At least Alistair for all his faults is actually helping with the blight. What was loghain doing in the mean time?this is why that errand boy is dead right? besides "King" word can be used to inflict pressure on dwarfs. Which is useless, but you know...

Pretty much the same. Plus resistance of the nobles. I believe there is no such thing as Marshal of the Armies in Ferelden? shame really.

Is that when you meet Loghain when you call the Landsmeet? I think so-but it's been some time since I did the Landsmeet. I'll check my old male Cousland save file later on-if the data is still there.

I seem to recall being called a "churl" as a male.

I don't care really. What he was doing all that time, but the man saw the darkspawn horde. also you can't say what actually he was doing. because it's behind the scene. Man was a general.
all you can see is his vices.
but i understand that you like this man-child with father complex. i that's fine, at least Alistair can say 'no' to player.

I don't know, the slavery thing was bad enough on its own. Alistair's issues are wholly separate from that.

He was a General that turned away 200 wardens and their associated soldiers. If you go with the idea that the plan wasn't going to work because there were too many Darkspawn then being the General he should not have turned down the help. I guess he was too paranoid to do this job well.

Those associated soldiers were Orlesian chevaliers who garrisoned Ferelden once before. I can't blame Loghain for not letting them in.

true enough. but again those 200 wardens and soldiers would die. because... well... they couldn't end the Blight at Ostagar. So Ironically enough he saved those Orlesians.

It took me a while to find it in the toolset, but I finally located the line, and Cauthrien only has a single dialogue option: "Don't interrupt, churl. Your betters are talking." without any flags or conditions placed on it. (Which is a really convoluted way of saying, yes, she says the same thing to both male and female Wardens. /pedantry)

I'm sure Loghain is rolling in his grave. A grave because he's dead. After being killed. To death.

I think it's just poor storytelling. It's odd how people at the landsmeet have a say about everything, voting against Loghain or the Warden, and then giving the terms of the duel, and yet once Loghain is defeated they just stay quiet. One would think they would give some insight about what should be done once the losing party yields. Imprisionment? Execution? Just say something, damnit!
There are good reasons to either spare or kill Loghain. I just wonder what players would do if the dark ritual plot never existed. Would they be willing to either die or sacrifice Alistair instead?
If you spare Loghain in my mind it is a signal that others can do the same thing. His execution to me was followings the law and letting no one be above the law.
I agree with you that: "I think it's just poor storytelling". I'm also not okay with the Warden committing crimes and the game letting you do it with no backlash. I have no problems with the Warden having to follow the laws or see penalties for her/his actions.
