Pretty much, its the convo before you go to the Alienage if you stop in the Gnawed Noble prior.  While the convo had more of a feel of "What kind of game is Eamon playing?" to it to me, not so much an "Anora isn't fit to rule" thing.  Both she and Bryland are discussing the Blight, which seems to have more of a hold on their minds.  She does voice concerns over Arl Bryland's lands (South Reach) being lost to darkspawn takeover, his situation doesn't seem as dire as Arl Wulff's (Westhills) since Wulff's was completely overrun and his two sons died from it.

Though admittedly it's been some time since my last playthrough, and South Reach may have been in as bad a shape as Westhills.

The impression I got was no one really wanted Maric's recently unearthed bastard on the throne, preferring to remain with Anora (human beings tend to stick with the status quo during a crisis given no other viable options).  I think that's one reason doing all those little side quests (like freeing Sighard's son, finding Alfstanna's brother etc) sways them to your side, if not, they support Loghain.

And yes, I think Alfstanna is my favorite Bann (after Teagan) for the pure badassery of the character!

Teagan... I always forget about teagan being a bann because he's so nice and normal. They are both my faves.

I'll have play again. Everytime I am ready to move on.... it's like the Godfather.... I keep getting dragged back in!!!

I'm starting a noble/mage run now. She's just arrived at ostagar. I started it last night actually.

Alfstanna is concerned because if you see the map, right not the hoard is heading her way as are the refugees. They are basically at her doorstep because I think she's bannorn, isn't she? I think that also explains why she wants to help HN because Bannorn loves Bryce. Ser Gilmore's father sent him to Bryce when he was young. Gilmore loves serving the Couslands but if given the choice to be a Grey warden that's a dream come true for him. Just had that conversation for the first time as well yesterday. I kind of think of the Bannorn as being the good guys because they are closer to Bryce and the Couslands.

I LOVE getting Alfstanna to side with me by bringing up the poisoning. She's definitely Badass.

I am unsure where Waking Sea is, but I presumed (like Dragon's Peak) it's remoteness from the advance kept it from being too overrun by the time the Landsmeet is called.  Certainly they are concerned since EVERYone is in the path.  South Reach itself seems to be located just south of Dragon's Peak (which is neighboring Denerim itself).  Physically the Bannorn lands seem to be a giant belt in the middle of the country, but I think "Bannorn" also refers to the collective banns (and Arls) as a whole too, regardless of where they are situated in the nation.

With a name like "Waking Sea" and her offer, I'm going to assume her lands are closer to Highever (unless someone has a better map than what I am referencing on the wiki they can share?)

I also try to drag out the free for all at the Landsmeet because at certain points in the battle you see Alfstanna AND Bryland joining the Warden.

Waking Sea is actually above Orzammar - the body of water above it so I'm not sure if it's further north across the see? I'm looking at the map...

This thread title is just phrased all types of wrong.

I kill Loghain every time. Most of my characters are elves and it would irritate me if he got credit for killing/fighting the archdemon, because fantasy racism.

When my PC's are not elves: Only because I just don't think about it anymore and just press the option.

There is no guilt or reason in my house.

I think waking sea would likely refer to the north as there is no location other than the actual sea. I always thought the bannorn was the bannorn as it is a territory but I could be wrong. Maybe waking see is considered to be the coastland? Jader is never really mentioned except for Riordan, so I don't think that counts.

Is this about Alfstanna in the game? I'd love to see it! She's the one noble I actually kind of like because she offers the HN help.

I heard this in the tavern. She is also my favorite as well.

Looking at this map, I wonder why west hills has fallen before redcliffe, when its waaay up there and redcliff is almost as close to ostagar as lothering. It fell way before the landsmeet and redcliff was attacked at least 2 nights or so before the final battle.

West Hills and West Hill are two different places. West Hill is in the northwest, as the map shows. West Hills is in the south west, and south of Redcliffe. (From the DA Wiki: The West Hills arling lies to the south of Redcliffe Village, in the borderland area along the Frostback Mountains and abutting the Korcari Wilds.)

The name of her bannorn is "Waking Sea".  When she makes her vote in the Landsmeet, she refers to it as "Waking Sea".

I find the relationship between she and her brother are interesting for minor characters.  If asked about his sister, Irminric says 'she makes a much better bann than he would'.  I get the impression it's similar to 'eldest/most capable child inherits the land/title, younger goes into the priesthood'.  Since Thedas really doesn't have male priests per se, a templar is the next best thing I guess.  I would imagine many younger nobles without much chance of inheritance lean toward the chantry/templarhood.

Laziness or to confuse us. Waking seas is actually a sea... I see no representation on the map unless I'm missing it. If they're going to bring it up in the landsmeet it seems like it should be on the map...

You would think.  At one point I recall seeing a more detailed map, but I could be in error.  I just know when she casts her vote she says "Waking Sea" supports the wardens, just as Sighard, Wulff, Bryland all cast their votes as if they spoke for their lands.

Oddly Ceorlic (that old guy who always votes for Loghain) casts it as "I support Loghain".

It is funny that he goes with loghain but then again, he's a wuss. No backbone is how I see him. His fear leads him to choose loghain because loghain drove out orlais. He's too fearful to pick the warden despite that he's seen only bad judgment from loghain AND that he hated howe and howe was in league with loghain, though I don't think they know that at the landsmeet or at least not the degree.

I get confused with alfstanna because she mentions about the refugees in bannorn .. or is it My bannorn she says. I always think The Bannorn. But her's must be very far north, I would guess somewhere near West Hill or even Jader.

Ceorlic has history with the Theirins.  Maric killed Ceorlic's father.  I think because Ceorlic's father was either Moira's killer or betrayed Moira to Orlais--regardless he was responsible for the Queen's death and of course, her son took offense at that.

So he will say/do anything to keep a Theirin (Maric's son) off the throne, even siding with Loghain.

And he does come off as a spineless weasel, who's been hiding in Denerim the entire blight, so I think he's just trying to stick with the status quo as well.

There was a discussion on Tumblr a year or so ago regarding the location of Waking Sea Bannorn, and the consensus amongst the loreheads was that it had (up to that point) not been shown on any of the 'official' maps.

The name Waking Sea and that Alfstanna seems to indicate some degree of loyalty to Highever in her dialogue when speaking with a Cousland Warden (I believe she uses the word "friendship"?) suggests somewhere in The Coastlands, but nothing more specific than that.

Yes, that's why I guess maybe West Hill area. Jader wouldn't put it too far... but how do they forget that?! I guessed Jader area because that is where they actually wrote 'waking sea'. But it would make sense it is somewhere around there. How on earth do they forget to put that on the map?

Warden's Vigil info isn't canon, AFAIK, they use hypothesis and best-guesses to fill in the blanks for their roleplay.

Well, Jader is in Orlais, so I don't think Waking Sea Bannorn is quite that far west. *Loghain's head explodes*

This one thinks The Waking Sea is the entire inlet, between Brandels Reach and Val Royeaux, and Waking Sea Bannorn could fall anywhere along the northern coast, from Amaranthine to West Hill. /opinion

So the wikia map is wrong about Jader? It has it just above orzammar.... I thought Jader was related to where Riordan was and he was still ferelden? I don't pay full attention to that conversation when you meet him in the dungeon though.

Eh well, it doesn't really matter much. I was mostly curious and wondering why they wouldn't even put it on the map.

Okay... Curiousity satisfied.

This is the Awakening World Map, and the body of water between Amaranthine and Highever is marked as "Waking Sea". /pedantry
