They'd just gotten a castle to hide in. This castle was described as being a defensive location that a skeleton force could hold against a darkspawn horde. And on top of that the Ferelden royalty had made clear their will that the mages be protected. Fiona used her Godzilla Threshold solution just as things were looking up for her.

Still to blatantly say they willingly and knowingly sold themselves to slavery is pushing it a bit.

I do mean to say that they willingly and knowingly risked highly probable slavery for a chance to survive.

All I can say is I've never seen anything like this and have no idea where you got this idea, and am leaning towards it being headcanon. Which is not what I thought we were doing here.

The reason I was wondering was because I didn't think we were arguing headcanon. I thought we were trying to figure out what actually happened.

That's the issue with headcanon. 

 

My headcanon will be completely different from someone else's, and likewise for anyone else. My headcanon'ed Warden or Loghain will be different from yours, TEWR, or Xetykins. As such, what is true in my headcanon is true for me but is not true for anyone else. 

 

Thus, if we debate our unique headcanon for Loghain, it makes it impossible to get an accurate picture of what happened, when it happened, and is not helpful at all to establishing the kind of character he actually is vs how we want him to be.

Dang. I mean, I probably wouldn't personally install them, since the scene works so much better as pure drama (or mostly pure, since I love the lines where you mouth off to Howe) but if there was a Youtube video it might even be worth looking up the url that could get it to loop.

The only thing i saw as far as a comedic mod goes are the fairly graphic ones :-) Not dissing the creators because im sure it took a lot of work though.

Did the HoF recruit from outside Fereldan to stop the Blight? The answer is "no;" the armies he/she amassed were from within their own borders, and that was enough to defeat the Darkspawn. After Ostagar, Loghain & Co. kept the Archdemon blood in safe keeping. That tells me that he did not entirely disbelieve the necessity of the Wardens in Blights. If he did, he would have poured it down the drain. Instead, it seems he was trying to determine what they were about.

 

Just imagine if he cracked the code and won the Landsmeet. O.O

 

Fast-forward to Inquisition. The Inquisitor does not know what makes Wardens necessary to slay an archdemon and can exile the Wardens from Orlais, yet can still defeat this Darkspawn menace end the game as a hero. All Loghain lacked was the plot on his side.

Well, the Inquisitor has options and s/he doesn't *have* to take the Loghain-esque (imo) ones. But you can. And if you do, you still win and no one revolts.

No, they were similar. Only this time you weren't fighting an actual Archdemon. I'd been arguing since before Inquisition came out (if memory serves) that the only cast-iron reason Loghain's decision was stupid was the Archdemon immortality thing. Given that that's absent (or at least altered) in this game I don't know why you'd expect to lose due to a lack of Wardens. If anything having the Wardens absent until Cory is in the ground is a good thing given how his immortality works.

I don't remember how we find out that we aren't fighting an actual Archdemon. The Wardens themselves refer to it as an Archdemon just moments before you have the option to exile them.

That could have cost you the game, then, if it hadn't turned out you weren't facing a real Archdemon. And yes, this means you made exactly the same decision Loghain had to with the opposite outcome. As for how you find out that it's not really an Archdemon I think the Well of Mythal contains the knowledge somehow.

And it doesn't work if nothing negative happens if you makes those choices anyway. Like HYR said "All Loghain lacked was the plot on his side."

I'm not sure I follow. Are you saying that since the Inquisitor can exile the Wardens and everything turn out fine, that Loghain's plan to exile the Wardens was equally as likely to turn out fine?

That exiling the Wardens is generally a good plan, and it would have worked if Loghain hadn't screwed up other things?
