The whole conversation leading up to killing the old smith in Redcliffe; especially if Zevran and Alistair are with you. "Or how about we just leave him alone? Old man, drunk, harmless? Any of these ring a bell?"

That's funny. I had a character who did that, and responded to Alistair with something down the lines of: "Is that reason to kill him, or not kill him?" Alistair is like: "! ... not kill him??" Anyway, I didn't change my mind on it. So after Alistair was done complaining, he absolutely lays that guy out flat on the ground with Shield Bash and taunts him a few times before he finally dies!  Gotta love gameplay/story segregation.

I don't get the hate for Isolde. She seems to be one of DAO's more maligned characters. And the blood ritual is hideous. Just the idea of bleeding from magic is disturbing. I wonder what that feels like. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I think. Perhaps there is someone, but not her.

Is it hate or plain disgust? Isolde the poor dear ashamed of having magic in her family. She did the only thing a good woman like her can do and allow the whole town to turn into ghouls.

She couldn't tell the truth. She was okay with a few more bodies to feed her son's new demon buddy. I'm sure she thought she could get a new staff. She forgot to warn the town that her son's Ghouls were going to attack them. We also know this didn't happen overnight. It had been going on for a while.

It is true she would never forgive herself if something happened to Teagan. I guess she had no problem letting all the staff and town people die.

I never let her die. Wish I could but can't. I really think this lady shouldn't be above the law. She should have faced some kind of charges. I always like to give her a hard time and expose her for what she is. Then I save her and her son but wish I could have sent her to jail.

The final battle

The warden's funeral

The warden survival ending and seeing Fergus again was a very special moment. I really think they did a great job showing the love in that family.

"And here we have the Puppeteer!"

"Tell us Warden, how will the Orlesians take our nation from us? Will they issue commands though this would be prince?

Love that moment.

Oh, definitely. When it cuts to The Warden waltzing in with their crew. Great moment. Simon Templeman is a fantastic VO artist.

I don't know. Probably something to do with Oghren. My true "bro" of DAO. Not Alistair. They did right by giving me another cool dwarf in DA2.

Him and Zevran are he ultimate odd couple. Oggie is the best, especially his final talk with you before Archdemon.

I once had Zevran with me in the Ashes quest, and while everyone was expressing how overwhelming it was to stand before the ashes, Zevran just said unimpressed: "Nice vase." :P

HA HA! I still laugh heartily at Sten's, "Congratulations, you've found a waste bin." In such a deadpan voice. Always bring him for that comment.

3. "Ma serannas, friend. You may have no clan, but you are Dalish still." - Ariane in Witch Hunt. I played my Mahariel as deeply grieving her exile, so this affirmation of her Dalish-ness really struck a chord.

2. My Brosca's Ultimate Sacrifice.  'Archdemons killed real good.'  'S what's being a Warden's for.

1. "If you could go back, would you? Would you turn down being the hero of Ferelden?" - Ariane again, to Mahariel.  Having the opportunity to answer it gave that PC's story a sense of closure that wasn't there after Awakening.

I have a lot of them throughout the game....My favorite scene might be first when Archy is killed, and then Teagan after the big bang on the tower....the darkspawn running away....

Oh, yea the Teagan scene is one of my favorites too, for so many different reasons (not the least of which is that he's my favorite NPC in the franchise).  But it has far more impact on a US ending, and if you flirted with him in Redcliffe.

OH and seeing Bryce in the Gauntlet on a Cousland.  There are some people you wish weren't dead, or you would give ANYthing to spend 5 more minutes with them, so I could totally relate to this scene.  And bawl like a baby each time I see it.  Tearing up now just thinking about it.

There are too many to count, and the impact of some is dependent on what origin/gender and/or options you took in the game.

Don't you dare to start it! "My dearest child..." That line just kills me.

My Cousland actually got pretty pissed. He knew it was just another test, and that the gauntlet was just playing with his head. But it didn't stop it from hitting him were it hurt the most.

These....

also Tamlen in the gauntlet

Leaving Bryce and Eleanor....'Go pup and know we are proud of you both' and 'goodbye my darling' I am usually bawling at that. I head cannon beating the ---- out of Duncan after that.

In witch hunt returning to the cave as a dalish, just standing in the entrance and Arienne apologising for bringing you back to the place of such sorrow. Then standing in front of the mirror, I have a moment of silence...

When Alistair tells the warden he hopes she will be the last woman he ever sleeps with, after you cure Eamon and you choose, but you are going to be king. His reply. 'I never thought I'd meet a woman like you, but if you want to end it now before it goes any further'

and many more....

If it hasn't been brought up before:

Killing Connor, due to Isolde's VO.

She does magnificent work there, far as I am concerned, as much as she is ridiculed elsewhere.

"You will pay for this, human!"

One of the reasons I like Dalish origin best: something in the way of active animosity towards Duncan. And of course, pay he does later on.

Oh, I can see how an Alistair fan might view it. Never thought of that. To me, it's only natural for a wife to wonder why her husband is raising a strange child. Especially considering the pattern of nobles and royalty, and their harems and concubines and bastards spread about the land.

But she still doesn't care that she's murdered half the town. I mean she REALLY DOESN'T CARE. Teegan is pissed at her too. It's far less about Alistair at that point. That's more the icing on the cake really because he understands why she did it. But me? I don't get how a woman can want to get rid of a child because she thinks he's a bastard. Fact is, he was ten when she wanted him out and he was there before she was. So it's really not logical and it doesn't make any kind of rational sense. It's like getting married to a man and telling him kids from his previous relationship have to go... she's jealous of something that happened BEFORE she got there. Years before based on the timeline which makes her a horrific person. If Alistair was only say one or two I could see it. But he is old enough to remember all of this very clearly which means that he was around long before she was and likely the woman who give birth to him is long gone. How she is jealous of that, I don't know but this is not a pious woman. This is a selfish shrew.

But back to the town, she gets mad at you when you call her on it. Impertinent question. That's what she says. Really? Look to me like the only question I should be asking. Furthermore, she drags Teegan into the castle, now risking his life. You do realize he was at risk, don't you? I had to rescue him. I thought I killed him before the cut scene. So she comes out of get one more hostage for her own sake. Who drags people into hostage situations? Usually they shoo them off but I've never seen them want to add to the body count like that. And again, she still doesn't care one damn bit about the town. And who were all those corpses? I'm guessing they were once bodies of staff. They didn't come out of the think air is my guess. But even if they did there are a few servants you have to kill as well. And then the soldiers that attack you in the main room when you meet her and connor. They are dead now too, because of her. But again, she's not really concerned with that. Her anger goes straight to her boy. And yet, she couldn't have any of that for Alistair. Never an ounce of care for him. Just jealousy, which the demon calls her on if you are a female. That's very funny. Demon connor says to Isolade that your PC is prettier than her and he's surprised Isolade hasn't had her killed because of it or something like that. This all goes to her character. He calls her jealous. Right on that count. Demon connor knows all about her.

I am particularly fond of the Alistair/Morrigan interactions, they are funny though she's a bit mean to him. But if there's one time where I laughed really hard, it was when we first set out for Lothering after acquiring Morrigan and then the Mabari I saved at Ostagar runs into the scene. After defeating the DS attack, I decide I don't want the dog and Alistair bemoans my decision. I then said (paraphrasing) that he can take care of the dog.

Morrigan then says, "How odd, we now have a dog and Alistair is still the dumbest one on the party.", to which the dog gives a "happy bark".

Agreed. The Teagaaahhn is brought up a lot, and I get why, but she is amazing and heart-breaking during that scene. I don't think she is a nice woman at all, but there she is a desperate mother begging you not to kill her child. Hard not to feel sympathy there.

The Gauntlet's references to your past are great as well. I both love the question of the Guardian and the person most important in your origin story appearing. Bryce Cousland was mentioned, but Tamlen's appearance impressed me as well. My Dalish was desperate to keep searching for his friend, and he still felt guilty for abandoning the search. Seeing him appear later as a shriek shocked me as well.

Those small moments where your origins tragedy are recognised makes it all hit home. The Gauntlet T.T no matter which origin I choose, i'm getting emotional. Tamlen and Cousland Papa are my favourites.

Oh, that, and the party's reaction if you are negative about your past when The Guardians asks you if you feel guilty/bad. Ahh...

Or you tell him "None of your damn business" which I have said on a couple of Couslands.  Most of the other interactions had less impact on me.  Jowan's is especially weird if you know he's still alive in the cell in Redcliffe.  Leske and Trian had zero emotional impact on me, maybe because I dislike the dwarven origins (though I like the Commoner much better than the Noble).  Tamlen's appearance as a shriek hit me harder than his Gauntlet appearance, and Shianni's was...meh.

Cousland, definitely, for me was the most impactful, but then I usually play my Cousland as a 'daddy's girl' (or boy), sort of an innocent who has to grow up and shoulder a huge burden, and the talk with him fits so well the roleplay.

Siding with Caridin, definitely. I love that one. I've had characters who side with Branka instead, of course, but I didn't like that nearly as much, although it worked much better for those characters. Having Shale along makes it even better.

Actually, I'm quite fond of the Deep Roads in general, especially from the point you witness the horde on.

Breaking the werewolf curse is another good one, and I like Uldred's speech in the end of the Circle Tower as well (though that's partially because I find some aspects of it funny, in a good way). I also enjoy the whole Fade segment.

The appearances in the Gauntlet are also usually good, although for me, that depends a lot on how important they were to my character. It has the intended impact with some, but not with all of them. I also like the entrance to Haven and wandering about in it; it has good atmosphere.

Finally returning to the Alienage as a City Elf is good, too.

I also liked how ominous things felt before the march to Denerim the first time, and the surprise of the whole dark ritual. The very end of the game also felt appropriately triumphant.

For whatever reason, Redcliffe is the one area that I don't have any particular fondness for. It's not bad, but nothing about it really stands out to me, unless you count the Sacred Ashes quest as being part of it (and I don't usually think of it that way, since I usually do that as the last thing and often end up doing Redcliffe as the first).

Another moment I enjoy is defiling the Urn of Ashes.

*take pinch of ashes*

cue in: heroic music theme ~ yay!! =D

*empty vial into urn*

cue in: grimdark music!! =O

And then the Guardian comes in and whines: "Oh no! The ashez!"

... and then I kill him.

How fun. =]

This.  The moment I read the subject of the thread this was the thought I had.  While there are many moments, none hits me like this one does. I thought he was lost with everyone else in Ostagar, to see him in the coronation hall after all that was done wrenched at my heart.  I loved his characterization, the perfect big brother  :D

Gate partings are also a good moment, but only if I know the Warden will be dying at the end.

I wish my character could have hugged him right there. Why can't I hug my big brother????

Far too many, it's pretty amazing how much there is.  Even things i didn't like were still well done, imo.

But for all the years I played, this one is a fairly recent moment.  I always fought my way out of prison.  The idea of sitting around waiting for the group to rescue me was just something I didn't want to do.  Until I did it.  Now I LOVE it.  They are so funny and entertaining.  I don't have a favorite couple, they are all funny from Wynne and Zev with Zev doing the talking to Morrigan and Wynne with Morrigan doing the talking.    Now I always wait.

I am also am very fond of Alistair giving the Warden a rose, simply reminds me of my husband.  And talking to Leliana about shoes and hats which makes me laugh.

Serous moments The Brood Mother still gives me the creeps along with Hespith's poem giving me shivers and not the good ones.

There are several but off the top of my head...

Duncan when he realizes the beacon was lit but no help was coming.

Alistair's/Anora's speech before the charge at Denerim. Although they're mostly the same, I prefer Alistair's. Just feels right, I guess.

The cut scenes of the dwarves, mages, and elves gathering for the final battle.

Taking Loghain back to Ostagar and listening to his conversations with Wynne.

return to Ostagar in total and particularly finding Cailan's body - thinking now perhaps not fave but certainly emotional. Look away if you don't like Alistair - when he says maker's breath but you're beautiful and then wanting to spend the night together. Mod moment DahliaLynn's sleep until dawn
