Morrigan also puts a bra on when you take her armor off like every women in DAO.

I am just now getting around to DA:O, so I can't comment on the sequel. However, I have played KOTOR, Jade Empire, and the ME games, so I am pretty familiar with Bioware's idea of romance. My answer across the board is: the sex scenes are always awkward. I would much rather just a kiss followed by fade to black.

The grinding in granny pants is really bad, and using the natural bodies mod doesn't help much.  I literally just figured out this playthrough that the entire cringeworthy cutscene can be skipped.  I'm a happy camper.  Now if I'd rather the cutscene be a kiss and fade to black, I can put my own edit in.  I know people like the cutscenes and the one with Alistair and the genlock makes me crack up every time, and everyone else has surely figured out how to skip them.  I just figured I'd share something that made me smack my head that I didn't figure out sooner.

Don't really care, it's a lot of nonsense. They're embarrassing.

They are because they are done so badly. The scenes in ME1 actually were PG13 level and weren't cringe worthy. I don't want or need porn from Bioware games but in an M title if they are going to deal with sex it would be nice if they treated us like the adults (most) of us are and didn't do the painful and definately embarrassing scenes we've gotten in the DA series.

I would say yay.  I agree with the general sentiments here that DA:O scenes are uncomfortable at best, but I don't think that means it can't be done well.  The Liara scenes from ME 1 and 3 would be my Bioware high watermark.  The blurry camera and obscured angles make them more suggestive than porny, while also eliminating some of the "uncanny valley" problems mentioned here previously (and removing the need for strange underwear choices).  It also helps that these scenarios felt like a natural culmination of a game-long romance.

I think it worth mentioning that Bioware handles romance really well (not the sex scenes per se, but love stories in general) when compared to other games.  DA:O's sex scenes did not work, but the romance mechanism on the whole develops in satisfying way.  I appreciate this; its a nice change of pace from constantly murdering baddies, and it adds an extra weight to both battles and player decisions. I hope it continues to be a point of emphasis in their games.

Finally, from a morality standpoint, if you are old enough to simulate graphically lopping off someone's head with long sword, you are old enough to see consenting adults simulate sexual acts.  I'm not sure why this is even an issue anymore.

yay! See avatar. There are mods which allow the characters to have sex without wearing their underwear. Much more to the point.

I would much prefer, if it just ends up a jerky mess (like the default animations in Origins) they just stick with what happens in DA2 (though that scene with Fenris was horribly misaligned).  I find a touch of a hand to a cheek or hair (such as when you have your final convo with Fenris) to be far more evocative to me than some jerky porn scene set to Enya music.  I found Isabela's 'disarmament' incredibly fun and sexy (fitting her character) to be more of a pleasure to watch than the weird facial contortions and odd movements in Origins (underwear or no).

Now I've seen some nice animations.  I've downloaded IRS and LRS and those are nice mods with some really lovely scenes done well.  And Dahlialynn's work is a beauty to behold.  But modders of this skill are rare and the mod reflects that it's a work of love, not a job, so they can devote time/energy to getting it right.

IF I had a choice between the two, I'd rather some making out and fade to black for the woohoo.  Then maybe a short discussion after.  DA2 had it's flaws, but I felt it was much better implemented with these scenes than Origins did.

I'm in the "do it right, or don't bother" camp. The original sex scenes in DAO were a bit tragic, the recut mod ones were marginally better, but the dead facial expressions remained a problem (they were a problem throughout the game). I really don't see why it's so difficult, the Witcher 2's sex scenes were really well done and felt far more cinematic that DAOs. It shouldn't be that hard to design a scene that is sexy without it being overly explicit, but at the same time, you have to decide if you are going to do it properly, and have the characters get naked, or just have some snogging and then fade to black. Awkward sex scenes with characters still wearing underwear just end up being hilarious.

It's because whey done like nonsense. But some are good, like writer favourite Liara.

Or I really liked citadel DLC.

Or this is best you even have interrupts.

I guess my point they should watch what there co-workers making other game did. Because DA romance scenes are just bad compared to ME.

Thanks to Dahlialynn and a couple of other modders, sexy times are now not also cringey times.  The original scenes were pretty dire tho.
