Being dressed casually doesn't have to mean going unarmed, it's just that your weapons are more discretely placed. I just found having a choice of casual dress in Mass Effect added to the role playing, particularly in ME3. If I wanted to look more impressive for official meetings, I'd don that fancy looking formal dress but when I was going to hang out at the disco my male Shepard looked really cool in his leather jacket. Which is why the female equivalent was so disappointing. Did her bum look big in that skirt or what? I'd rather have had the male outfit which was pretty gender neutral. Just a couple of options would be fine - one gender neutral and one gender specific, so everyone is kept happy, plus perhaps a couple of customisation slots for foot or headwear. But I suppose we are at least getting the option to customise our armour which is an improvement, particularly with Vivienne in tow. There's no way I'm having her upstage my Inquisitor.

I love that leather jacket because it inspired me to make a balding Shep in a midlife crisis. He was totally down with the kids yo.

I think here is nothing wrong with a nice comfy sleeping armour.

For that whole bal thing, I would like either to be able to chose what I want to wear, or be forced to wear something but be able to chose my character's feelings about the way they are dressed.

I just really want to be able to stuff my qunari inquisitor into a big Orlesian ball gown.

While more options are ALWAYS appreciated, clothing (especially women's clothing) is something people have strong opinions about, and I'm not sure that Bioware would be able to include enough options to satisfy the majority.
Female Hawke's party outfit had supporters and dissenters, but I wonder if having the option to protest the outfit might have made it a little more palatable?

Two options wouldn't be much of a chore. A smart dress or casual clothing. I modded my Hawke's party outfit because I thought a dress would be fitting her more. On the other hand, femshep's dress made me cringe when it was worn by my tomboyish no frills vanguard.
They could have a "main" unique option and reuse existent models for the others. It's no big deal though.
