The reaper heart and brain only effect low ems in determining which ending you get(ems below 1750) Heart gives you destroy only and the brain gives you control only. Of course this is based on your decision in ME2 of whether you save the base(brain) or destroy the base(heart)

Which, apparantly, matters a great deal to the Catalyst.

Yes, the heart. Emotion. Kill them. The brain. Logic. Control them. Synthesis = green = stoned.

This goes to the original ending concept. The sequel to the Destroy ending was Quest for Fire. A 10,000 year dark age. Post ending DLC? What's the point? It's a wasteland.

Control was the good ending. Shepard had died in ME2 and was rebuilt using reaper tech and now possessed the taint. The warden could now absorb the soul of the arch demon by grabbing the control rods and end the blight through his/her sacrifice.

Synthesis? Mac and Casey were stoned. Natural and synthetic fiber blends have to understand each other, too.  <_< We won't talk about Joker and EDI's forbidden love and their 12 iChildren.

Not talking about EMS mechanics.

We have something with at least either a Reaper 'heart' or a Reaper 'brain', and then we're told that it is little more than a power source.

Come on. It's never stated that Shepard is rebuilt using reaper tech. Stop playing with my emotions.

That's what happens when you cross the streams.

If Shep were rebuilt with reaper parts...he would be the first one to be indoctrinated even before the end of ME 2. Now that I think of it, it could be a good plot twist

I would've hated it, personally. As it was, Mass Effect had too much indoctrination going on.

Same here. Every time you tried to take the game in a direction you weren't supposed to, those black wavy lines would appear and shep would shoot someone. It'd be awful.

No, this is not indoctrination. Shepard does not get indoctrinated. This is pure Bioware.

But the reaper parts gave Shepard this: the ability to see Harbinger's avatar in the vent (the boy) - how did he get over there from that roof? why didn't Anderson hear or see him?; the boy running and boarding the shuttle, yet no one even notices him ... except Shepard; Shepard dreams of Harby's avatar so often it drives Shepard to join Harby's avatar in flames. Finally Shepard has a talk with the ghost of Harby's avatar (actually Harby's avatar) at the Crucible.

Don't you see? He possessed the taint. It's not IT. It's like the Warden. The Warden has dreams of the Arch Demon because he/she consumed the blood of the darkspawn. Thus Shepard has dreams of Harbinger who is manifesting as the child. In order to end the blight Shepard has to sacrifice him/herself by absorbing the soul of the Arch Demon. It is the only way.

Destroy? Soon, your children will create synthetics and the cycle will begin again. The blight will return. Synthesis? You ask the key question - "And there will be peace?" The Catalyst says, "The cycle will end." But Bioware made this ending their golden child. It is the perfect ending.

Shepard must die for there to be lasting peace. It is the fate of the Warden.

Getting back on topic. The whole point of bringing up the reaper heart is to show that the crucible can work with reaper tech and not be negatively impacted by it. So the point is that the crucible can work with the device on the omega 4 relay that detects the Reaper IFF.

I love talking about it too, but as a Type III tech, we don't have the language to really discuss what the Crucible is actually doing. Some may call that a 'hand wave', but Clarke's law applies here.
