Just asking. Where did he go? I recall seeing everyone *but* him at my PC's funeral. Did he head to Highever early?

That's a good question.  My guess is because Anora takes the same 'place-holder' as King Alistair would, they don't show him.  I would think it especially odd if he weren't there with a romanced warden.  He truly isn't to be seen?  I've never done a US with Alistair not king, or my one "Loghain spared" run, he ran off to be a drunk in Kirkwall, so i knew where he was for that run through.

Alistair went to the Land of Sloppy Development, with a side jaunt to All Epilogue Stuff is a Mess-ville. (A quick trip, and a budget one. He ran out of both time and money.)

I haven't seen him. I might've missed him though.

Anora was solo queen I believe. I think if you marry him to Anora he just takes her spot.

Unless you spared Loghain, then Anora will step in even if Alistair is married to her. If Anora is solo queen and Loghain was killed then I have no idea why he isnt there. Bug?

It's a while since I looked at the funeral stuff in the toolset, but I don't think there is a contingency for Warden!Alistair to be in the crowd at the funeral. He's either eulogizing, or absent, no matter what his relationship with the Warden. (ETA that sylvanaerie expressed this much better and more succinctly than I... Anora and Alistair likely share a placeholder.)

Jeez. Half makes me wonder if Alistair was always supposed to be king. And they put in the chance for him not to be late and half assed it.

 

They are so sloppy with this stuff at BW. I mean look at how the game runs if he is king by his own doing... he will still blame you. That is fixed with mods, but I guess this being a cut scene, they didn't bother to make a correct version. There are only a few scenes that are meant to fit all endings.

 

Did you ever notice that if you don't make him king and you choose the boon for the grey wardens, Anora talks about a statue to Alistair and all the other grey wardens who gave their lives to stop the blight. Sounds to me like he's dead only he's standing right behind her. She says the same thing if he is dead I think.

 

I don't think mods fix that. Or at least not the ones I have. You have a link?

 

I never pick the GW boon. I'm taking Loghain's lands XD but yeah that's odd.

The wiki mentions a bug where Alistair won't appear at the Coronation (as a Warden) if he's left behind at the gates in Denerim.  I don't know for certain if that extends to the funeral, though I guess it might be.

Okay, I'm going to dig out my Mahariel save, refuse the ritual, and kill her, just to see if Alistair blows off her funeral. BRB!

The last time I did the US, Warden Alistair appeared at the funeral.  My game is heavily modded, though, and my Mahariel knocked the romanced Alistair out to make the Ultimate Sacrifice.  It's possible either the ZDF or IRS mods fixed this issue if it's unrelated to leaving him behind at the gates.

 

 

 

Oh, and Arl Eamon isn't at the Warden's funeral if Alistair isn't king.  Screw that guy.  She saved his wife, kid, village and country and he can't even be bothered to attend her funeral (edit: in Redcliffe!!!!) if she doesn't go through with his plan to crown Alistair.  Ugh, add that to the list of reasons why I don't like Eamon.  Teagan, Isolde and Connor actually made it:

Least DAO isn't as bad as it as Skyrim. Good lord CTDs everywhere O_O
