Does boredom and procrastination count as tough times? In that case, yes.

Perhaps I have been there.
Mass Effect became my fun - my escape from traffic, work, life - the everyday BS that we all have to deal with.

Not this game OP but Skyrim helped me through a pretty rough time. Really helped me forget my problems, I will always be thankful for it.

I've relapsed several times... oh. I thought this was an AA meeting.
In all seriousness yes, I have used both the game and my crappy sense of humor to keep myself distracted during "rough" times.

During my tough semesters in school, I'd try to get in at least an 1 hour of ME3 during the week (usually friday nights) just to ease the stress. It definitely helped me clear my mind and manage getting all my crap done on time. Also lurking these forums for the lols certainly put a smile on my face during those brutal all-nighters.

Not necessarily tough times, but I play whenever I am sick of studying and want to get my mind off that. It's a positive way to relieve some stress and frustration.

That's called Game Compulsion and it really isn't a good thing.
Could be worse.
Could be illicit activities.
See? Always worse stuff. Lesser Evil is more good than Super Evil.

Uhhh, no... I don't use games as escapism from real life troubles.
Actually I can't even play games in such times, impossible to enjoy them for me in such cases.

I normally find games more attractive during my study week for finals lol...playing a lot more when I really need the time to read books
That's a part of being human I guess.
