Damn, now I'll have to leave any thread sicussing Orlais, the Dalish and the eluvians until I get that book. I have nothing against spoiler tags, nor I'm afraid of spoling something to myself, but I want to have all the data instead of snips to judge the situation.

The Eluvians are powered by the screams of tortured souls, and sacrifice and slavery was common in Arlathan. The modern elves idolize it and their race/culture, because they do not know what it really was.

I will say that Felassan, the Dalish mage working with Briala and not affiliated with that dumba** clan, seemed to have his sh!t together. Although...he could be arguably be a villain depending if his master is indeed who I think it is.

Not really either one. I actually really liked both Gaspard and Celene. Both are willing to make the hard choices and both seem pretty damn strong by book's end.

They contacted one of the Forbidden Ones! Remember Gaxkang and Xebenkeck? These idiots summoned up Imshael.

they wanted it to unlock the eluvians for them, but he tricked Celene's party into releasing him, so we have a top tier demon running loose around Thedas at the moment

The Dalish reaped what they sowed. When Imshael got loose, he burned half from the inside out and flayed the rest alive. As for the eluvians...it was kind of confusing. I don't think they are as OP as we thought though. However, to my eyes, Briala doesn't look like she has any desire to help out the Dalish. She's looking to the city elves

You mean one single clan? Who clearly disregarded the traditions of the Elvhen when it comes to spirits? I guess that's sufficient reason to condemn the entire every single man, woman, and child of the Dalish.

Yup, I'm burning the Dales to the ground. This dumb*** move sealed it for me.

If all it takes is one bad example to condemn everyone else, I don't see you siding with any faction, then.

There's clearly only one thing to do: make the most of it and try to either get information out of Imshael if possible, or nudge it in an Orlesian direction. Of course, I'll just kill the thing if they're both impossible, but I hope not.

Lob, I posted that as I was reading, and I hadn't finished the book yet. I'm not gonna burn the Dales down.

 

Apparently, according to the book, the Dales is actually pretty empty of Dalish at this point anyways.

What exactly is the difference between what this Clan did and what Merril did?

They both went to demons for knowledge on the same matter.
