So the demon tricked them into getting what it wanted.

Oh my. I am shocked by this unforeseen turn of events.

Shocked I say

You mean one single clan? Who clearly disregarded the traditions of the Elvhen when it comes to spirits? I guess that's sufficient reason to condemn the entire every single man, woman, and child of the Dalish.

If all it takes is one bad example to condemn everyone else, I don't see you siding with any faction, then.

I dunno. We're, what, 3 out of 4 now? It's not strictly a trend yet, since we don't have enough data points, but it's starting to look suspicious.

What exactly is the difference between what this Clan did and what Merril did?

They both went to demons for knowledge on the same matter.

Well, to be fair, she didn't summon up a freaking Forbidden One.

Regardless, Briala seems more in line with City elves, after this clan treated her like crap, so the Dalish do not hold monopoly over the mirrors.

Oh Dalish you are sooo consistently dumb.

I take it that it's fair to condemn all templars as rapists and torturers, then? I'm genuinely curious, because I've read page after page condemning all the Dalish for a single clan who disregarded the tenants of the Dalish.

I don't really have anything against Elves in DA but maybe it would be best if the Dalish just went away, they don't do anything but screw up and give SJWs something other than mages to support.

Maybe it would be best if they didn't, since some of us are capable of not condemning an entire society for the actions of a single clan. Similar to how we aren't supposed to use Meredith's act of genocide against an entire population of innocent people for the actions of one single man against the entire Templar Order.

Desperation will drive to terrible acts. It's not like we haven't seen it many times before.

Ah but Lobsel is claiming that this clan went against the tenants of the Dalish which seems to be "All spirits are dangerous, avoid".

Therefore, degrees of power are irrelevant, Merril also ignored the tenants of the Dalish. However, he seems to be condemning this clan (and thank goodness for that, one lunatic on these forums is enough) while defending Merril when they, basically, did the same thing; even if Merril didn't went up to a freaking Forbidden One.

I for one can't wait for how Dalish supporters will try to spin this as a good/smart thing to do.

Considering the people who like the Dalish have repeatedly addressed that they aren't perfect, I don't see that being the case.

Do you think if it was FO instead of Audacity, it would stop Merril?

We've already seen Xil say that she's gonna try and spin it on Orlais...

I didn't a condemnation of any sort towards the Dalsih though

Just wait for Lob in the morning. I'm gonna smack him if he dares to try to spin this in a positive light.

Generally speaking, you'd have to be a real idiot to think that I'm incapable of pointing out that the Dalish are capable of wrongdoing. It would require ignoring my posts entirely and only listening to the naysayers who prefer baiting me than having actual discussions.

Well he thinks Merrill working with a demon to fix a tainted mirror in the middle of a city was a good idea...

I pointed out Audacity was sundered from the Fade and trapped in a totem for over a millennia, so it isn't remotely similar to dealing with a spirit in the Beyond. Of course, why address facts when you can make asinine remarks instead?

If need be. As of yet, I don't know why the Dalish thought it would be a good idea to summon it, but if it knows relevant information and can be negotiated with, that is what I will do.

And the fact that the FO managed to trick the Empress's party into releasing it implies that it was also imprisioned.

So, again, the only difference between what these Dalish did and what Merril did is the degree of power of the trapped demon.

What happened with peaceful attitude, Xil? A hypocrite mage showing her true colors? Can't say i'm surprised.

Xil supports emancipating people from slavery. That has everything to do with protecting the helpless.

I don't understand why is so important Audacity was trapped in a totem. A clever enough demon can manipulate others to get free, and Audacity was a Pride Demon. He did get free in the end by manipulating Merrill, even if it wasn't the most direct way to do that.

Except it's not a single clan now, is it? It's multiple Keepers/Firsts. The ones supposedly charged with holding to the traditions and beliefs of their peoples so they can lead their clans to a restored Elven society. The fact that many, if not most, of the Dalish Mages we've met or observed take a "rules apply to other Dalish, but It's ok if I break them" stance is troubling, at the least.

Remember who actually freed it. It was Marethari who fell to Audacity's manipulations.

Spoiler

Merrill built her own from extensive research she performed, so it's not even remotely similar to compare it to the ones that were created during the era of Arlathan.

And that's why apparently she let Loghain live. Fine logic by me.

Well, it did actually know how to work the eluvians as it told Celene's party, including Briala. So it did technically give her the way to activate the eluvian matrix.
