It's stuff like that which makes choosing between the two really, really simple for me.

Why choose?

There are no bargains or terms before the Inquisition, only submission.

I'm on team Inquisitor. And from my understanding of the situation Gaspard and Celene might need us more than we need them.
I'm happy of the work. Patrick made on creating those two characters. I can roleplay characters that support either of them, without feeling forced. Though both my elf Inquisitor and human inquisitor (if he's from Ferelden the first time he'd likely be pro-Ferelden) would probably tend to prefer Celene over Gaspard.
On an unrelated note, it seems that the tensions between Orlais and Ferelden might not be developed in a main plot (as the supposed leak suggested), in favour of the OCW. If this is true I wonder which main plot will be related to Ferelden.

That begs que question, doesn't it? Much has been talked about Orlais and its civil war, the elves, even Nevarra and its succession crisis before it was said it won't appear in the game. But what about Ferelden? It's as if we have taken it for granted. What is so important about Ferelden this time that appears again in a DA game?

Wild guess: maybe it's tied to a Warden subplot. Ok, the same could happen in Orlais (they have Grey Wardens too, lucky guys), but if that subplot is tied to the Warden-Commander's disappearance, it would make sense for us to come back to Ferelden.

But I'm sure there are more possible explanations, including ones that aren't related at all to books or previous games. It seems that the Bioware forum wants to find the reason behind the Veil Tear crisis in characters from the previous games or from the newly released books, instead of trying to imagine an Inquisition-specific villain.

Going to Ferelden doesn't necessarily require a social crisis. I do not expect all the zones to be about fixing other people's problems, that's not the main plot of the game, closing the Fade Tear (and stopping the "big bad" once the plot bring it up) is. There is plenty of ancient sites in Ferelden that might hold clues to both of these: Haven, Brecilian Forest ruins, Kocari Wilds/Ostagar, etc.

Demons have taken over Ferelden's most important cheese manufacturer.

Retaking it forms the core of the games entire second act.

I, however, think the opposite: so far, every DA game has been about fixing other people's problems (or failing at it). The Blight didn't stop the Warden from having to do that, despite everybody in the world except the Qunari (and they were clever enough to send explorers) knowing that a Blight can mean the end of the world.

Ferelden has to have something. No doubt that there are ruins in Orlais too. What has Ferelden got that other countries hasn't? Will we see all Ferelden or just the part near Orlais? And what is near Orlais? The Frostback Mountains? Orzammar? We know from the trailer that we'll see Dwarves in their "natural habitat" again. If Kal-Sharok doesn't appear (it's between Orlais and the Anderfels), maybe this will bring us back to Orzammar? Just wondering.

I hope we do go back to Orzammar, I need to see my Bro Bhelen again (Not that my Inquisitor knows him but he would sure like to)

You know, it'd be remarkably satisfying to set up a way to free the elves and then not have it dissolve into an orgy of violence... at least on the part of the elves themselves; if the reactionary forces try anything, I'd have no qualms with dealing with them personally.

Hasn't happened yet, but I suppose there's a first time for everything.

Well, many of the most successful movements for freedom have been nonviolent without having to be overly compromising either. Of course, nonviolence tends to work best when those you're opposing can't just slaughter you outright for whatever reason... but if Orlais' nobility is willing to do that in response to nonviolent equality movements, I believe the Empire's time has come to an end anyway.

I don't think that's a behavior you can pin on Orlais alone.  I don't think you would find a nation in Thedas, including Ferelden or the Qunari, that wouldn't put down such movements with extreme prejudice.

And I would be no kinder to them if they did, but Orlais is the focus of this game.

Ah well.  We shall see what the game makes available.  I hope neither of us is disappointed by a lack of options or an overly restrictive scope.

I do not believe that the scope of my desire would leave yours impossible to fulfill, as I think yours was solely to just do whatever happened to be most effective to stop the Veil tears.

Hey, Xil, drop by home base. Cullen and Cass just got confirmed by Bioware as romanceable at PAX East.

I did. My kittenstorm line was likely lost in the storm itself, however.

Honestly, I haven't made any decisions past 'close the veil tears'.  I'll play multiple characters and try multiple things.  It would be nice if my various playthroughs were different enough to justify the attempts.
