Woah, woah. What what, now? Where is this?
Lady Insanity is live tweeting at the Discover the Dragon Age panel at PAX East in Boston right now. They were doing a Q&A session, and the devs told everyone that Cass and Cullen are now romanceable.

Hmm. That's good news, then. I look forward to reading the panel summaries. I know a lot of people are looking forward to continuing Cullen's story, and having him romanceable would indicate a more significant role than simple 'present and accounted for'.
I am also aware that others are not so sanguine about him, so hopefully they can decline his assistance.
They stated that the companions will be leader-type, in opposition of DA2 when they were outcast-type.
I'm not sure I follow. Are we talking about their positions in society?

Bioware has said they are video recording this panel, so you might very well be able to watch it later today.
Yes, positions in society.
Which would surely exclude Cole from the count.
But Varric's contacts were all based in Kirkwall, which appears to have been obliterated. How is he a leader?

He might've spread his contacts after he left Kirkwall. Though I'm not completely familiar in how the Merchant Guild works.
I was under the impression that the Merchant's Guild and the Carta, at the very least, were Thedas-wide.
Then in this case he might still have influence in other areas.I was under the impression that the Merchant's Guild and the Carta, at the very least, were Thedas-wide.

But he doesn't lead either one, and highly dislikes both.

And for all that he still has considerable influence in both.

That to me sounds like the Grey Warden is pretty much confirmed too

But he can get information from them, which is highly useful
Well, I was already sure he was in due to his appearance in the GI combat video. Though I wonder why he was taking off his gryffon necklace in the concept though, since I guess he'd still be a Warden-Commander/leader.That to me sounds like the Grey Warden is pretty much confirmed too

My guess is different opinion regarding the crisis or something else, which would lead into a quest solving the issue gaining Warden support
The long game of changing an entire generation's worth of nobles opinions on elf kind(which is working) is shot to hell and unfeasible.....but the elves somehow being able to resist the military might of Orlais(even after a civil war) is possible and reasonable. I mean honestly, everyone in the BSN has their own specific biases.....but you need to clean them rose colored glasses
Xil may be addressing the bad blood between Celene and Briala specifically, given the murder of her parents and her own feelings on the massacre of her people in Halamshiral, which may make things problematic between them (to say the least), as well as Briala bringing up that Celene wouldn't risk her throne to aid the elves, which is why she sided with the elves instead of with either Gaspard or Celene.
Or she may simply feel that the long game isn't worth the wait if there's a chance to improve things for the elves now. After TME, I'm certainly more interested in a New Vegas style option to aid Briala, rather than the retread of choosing between Celene or Gaspard, neither of whom I'm too crazy about.
I'm happy of the work. Patrick made on creating those two characters. I can roleplay characters that support either of them, without feeling forced. Though both my elf Inquisitor and human inquisitor (if he's from Ferelden the first time he'd likely be pro-Ferelden) would probably tend to prefer Celene over Gaspard.
You would take the woman who planned to seize your country via marriage over the man who wants to win it through war?
Odd.
I doubt we are going to get Briala as a third candidate for the same reason we didn't get a third casteless option in Orzammar, or a neutral path in Kirkwall
This is the first time I can say I liked all the primary characters in a DA novel, for various reasons. Don't get me wrong, they're all selfish in their own ways, but they all have positive qualities as well. Even Gaspard.

I liked Gaspard's sense of duty and honor.
I'm on team Inquisitor. And from my understanding of the situation Gaspard and Celene might need us more than we need them.

I agree that Celene and Gaspard were fleshed out - they come across as three-dimensional characters, and not black hat villains, when all is said and done - but (if it's available) I'd choose neither at this point.
On an unrelated note, it seems that the tensions between Orlais and Ferelden might not be developed in a main plot (as the supposed leak suggested), in favour of the OCW. If this is true I wonder which main plot will be related to Ferelden.
I don't see why future Dragon Age games wouldn't move on from Ferelden and Orlais after Inquisition. Laidlaw mentioned a five game plan, and there's plenty of Thedas we haven't seen so far. The Anderfels, the rest of the Free Marches, Nevarra, Tevinter, Rivain, Par Vollen. It would also address providing ramifications in Inquisition without having to deal with import issues if future games take place in other regions.
Also, I think Ferelden may be the inception of the storyline in Inquisition, going from eastern Ferelden to western Orlais. I wonder if that means the suspected cataclysm takes place there.
