And...is that a bad thing?
Not really, every game should be a bit more like the Witcher 2.
It does denote a certain lack of originality but what's original these days?

Do you mean that the Inquisition's army which will be mostly composed of non-magical humans will be against destroying non-magical kingdoms which probably happen to be their countries?
I'm shocked, I tell you.

Not just that but the Inquisitor's job is closing the Veil and restoring order and stability to the realm.
So it's likely we'll be forced into difficult choices between two evils to accomplish this just like the Warden was.
I'm not sure that would be the case. Celene and Gaspard both have their flaws, but I didn't see Celene as the uncontested "good guy" of the two. Gaspard adheres quite strongly to the chevalier's code, despite his involvement in the Great Game. There is Celene's contrasting reaction to the deaths of the elves she caused with the human village that was sacked in the conflict was interesting, given how she seemed more upset with the loss of human life than with the demise of the elves. Celene's justification about her actions in executing the members of the elven rebellion, and her comparison to ending the elven uprising with crushing a venomous merchant's guild was troublesome.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think either one of them are villains, but Celene has plenty of their own drawbacks. I think the only one who is genuinely on the side of the elves is Briala, which is why I can see her as an option in the conflict aimed at helping the Elvhen.
I saw a pretty good definition of the conflict earlier.
-Gaspard is the sort you can trust with your life, but not necessarily the country
-Celene you can trust with the country, but not necessarily your life

I would like the chance to aid a few factions, but i am not deluding myself into thinking i can fight the Mage Rebellion for the Templars.
That is their dragon to slay.
I have seen the ignorant on these forums claim that we should close the tears in the Veil.
This is nonsense! The tears in the Veil empower magic therefore, in order to empower mages, we need to make them BIGGER!

Hey, I'm all down for ripping the Veil to shreds! Let our demon masters rule us all!

Exactly

So it's Alistair and Anora 2.0?
Exactly
>_> Not saying i won't stack the deck in their favor as much as possible though...

That's why we keep our mages under Strict surveillance in Seheron and Par Vollen. Free them and they'll go straight worshipping demons
.
Stupid horned creature. You doubt the true way of the world!! The Veil prohibits expression of our Maker given powers from being taken to their fullest extent!

Too bad. You'll have to get in line. SHE IS MINE TO KILL.

Why don't we do both?
You get to go first.
