What do I need to do to make Javik the king of the hanar?

All kneel before Emperor Javik!

I believe it happens if you don't have him view the memory shard, nor resolve his post-Thessia encounter with Liara.

Do I just need to avoid taking the paragon interrupt during his confrontation with Liara? Or do I need to avoid the encounter completely?

I think you can do both.

Yeah don't take the paragon interrupt in his argument with Liara, and don't have him use the memory shard.

Also, he must have met the hanar at the citadel.

Wait, what? What is this and why does the Liara argument matter?

The Liara argument matters because he could decide to help Liara write a book. Otherwise he could become King of the Hanar.

But you also have to help Kasumi.

If Liara and Javik are on good terms he instead goes into the line about how after the war he will do something peaceful like help Liara write her book.

Interesting. But the paragon interrupt only tells everyone to chill. Then you have the option to side with Javik or Liara but in both cases Javik ends up placating her. Or are they different sans interrupt?

IIRC, not using the interrupt results in Liara simply leaving the room. You don't get to side with her then.

That's what I meant about the Paragon option, just the interrupt. After Shepard defuses the situation with the Paragon interrupt either the Paragon or Renegade prompt on the dialogue wheel can be chosen to result in Javik stating he will help Liara write her book.

I guess you're right. If you interrupt, Javik placates her either way and they get closer. Otherwise they don't.

Hmm. King of the Hanar would be amusing but I like the convo more with the interrupt and siding with Javik.

And I can avoid the book writing line later.

If you don't do the exchange between Javik and Liara at all is it different?

I think it defaults to the King of the Hanar statement. The one time I got Javik to say that line was the playthrough I skipped all the post Thessia dialogue.

So... hold on. If you don't let Javik use the shard, don't resolve the conflict with Liara and also don't save Kahje... Then what happens? There won't be many Hanar around for Javik to be King of...

I didn't even know this was a thing. This game has so many freaking variables it's insane.

Now imagine how much more insane glorious it would be if Bioware had another year of development time.

I've never gotten this King of the Hanar thing. I will do this when I get to ME3. (about to get IFF in ME2 after getting Samara's loyalty)

This is awesome. I'm definitely making Javik king of the hanar this game. I bet he recruits Blasto to be his court jester, and that vorcha to tell everyone who comes to court, "Prothean no like you! You die now!"

A one-off joke line "matters" now? Awesome.

Next up: Your choice of armor at the armor customization screen is totally reflected in game- choices matter!

Snark aside, it really is impressive the amount of variables this game does take into account. It's ashame the impact of some decisions were trivialized, but that doesn't wash away everything this game does well.

No, it doesn't. I can't recall a particular instance where the level of variation specifically wowed me, but my overall view on ME3 has always been it's still a good game, despite all the things wrong with it.

The highest praise I can think of for Bioware on the subject of Mass Effect is that they royally fucked up the final part of the trilogy and it still came out pretty damn good. If I get drunk enough to forget the ending and squadmate sidelining I'd even go as high as great.

Some people are just expecting way too much. From what I've read on here, it seems people expected a qaudrizilion different slideshows at the end, incorporating all their choices.

That simply is not going to happen.
