Unfortunately, that dashes my hopes that Evangelne would be the Templar companion.

Yeah, I hear you. ![]()
Oh well, he looks interesting at least. As long as it isn't another character that was as dull to me as Sebastian was, I'm all good.

Oh, thank the flying spaghetti maker it's not another one of those "I don't get it" threads.
Hey, that's better than saying we/I/anyone outright hates Cullen, right?
Because I really don't get it. I don't mind him either, though. Don't get me wrong. But it's like finding out that one guy in the background at the Star Wars bar when Luke meets Han Solo.. you know.. the one.. the third to the left.. yeah him... well.. it's like finding out he has a legion of fans and people are now squeeing over his inclusion.

I suppose there's nothing wrong with not getting it in itself, it's just that threads dedicated to that fact inevitably chart a path toward hate and destruction.

Fair enough. ![]()
That's why I used the phrase "tentatively confirmed." I was leaving some room for doubt.
To be honest this was mostly directed towards people who are rather likely to get excited/disappointed rather quickly...Despite actually quoting your own post,as you mentioned some fans already popping a gasket collectively. ![]()

Oh well, I'm still really happy for you guys. Regardless of companion inclusion, he'll be back in the game. That's kinda awesome really.

We should start our own little club at the rate things are going for us.

I chuckled at this, because I felt the same about Boba Fett for a long time. This was before he started getting tons of comics, books and screen time in the forms of both the live action movies as well as Attack of the Clones TV series. It makes sense now, with the overwhelming popularity of the character, but about 20 years ago I was just confused.
"Boba Fett? The derp that got tossed into the Sarlacc Pit after seeing him for about 10 minutes of screen time is suddenly a beloved badass? Since when???"
I don't mind the fans squeeing. They've earned it. I swear, they've gone more through BS trying to "justify" their like and desire for Bioware to include this character, and dealt with some crass folks along the way. Besides, I admit with no shame that I squee'd when I found out about Varric, and yes, my husband did tease me for it. I also admit that I will be squeeing if Varric is a LI. ![]()
But I think what I like even better is that most who aren't Cullen fans actually just seem to be happy for us.
Tentatively confirmed as a companion. As Loren warned, don't get your hopes up that high just yet.
Why shouldn't I be happy for you guys? <shakes head> I don't understand the mentality that some folks have, of being rude/mean just because another group ended up with something they wanted. We're all fans of Dragon Age, and that should be more than enough. Another interesting character and one that has some decent ties to the last two games? Why not? Besides, I've been wanting to see/hear the perspective of things from a fully-fledged Templar for a long time now, and it looks like I'll finally get my chance.
To be honest, Cassandra is like Cullen to me. Never understood how such a minor character could be so wanted two years ago.
If I had any left, I would be liking the **** out of this entire thread. I love you all.

<chuckles> I think we all have that character in various IPs that is really uber popular that makes us go, "Ok...I don't get it."
Congratulations. He is LI for all races?

Aw,that's really nice to hear, amidst this whole negativity!*hugs*

Why would you think LIs are race specific?

Not confirmed 100% as a companion, just looking very likely. Same with the LI part, though he did mention recording some sexy lines into the mic in a Tweet recently.

I think the appeal of a High Seeker is what drew me into her. That and her accent. ![]()

You're welcome.
We're all Dragon Age fans, and we've got a new game coming out that's shaping up to look great. This is a great time to put aside our differences in character taste, the robe v skirt war and just have fun nerding out on the new information that we're getting. I know I speak for some of the Thedas fans when I say I'm sick of the bickering, and I welcome a positive attitude for once.

I think the issue comes down to they think Cullen is taking away a companion's spot from someone's else. It's like a reality competition when it comes down to 2 last people. The person who goes through often gets flame for taking the spot away from the loser. Moreover, they think that Cullen is a companion simply because of the fans' demand despite David Gaider stated that he wouldn't often add anything simply because the fans demand it, some if they make logical sense, but he and the other writers wouldn't add Cullen if he didn't fit into the storyline they want to tell. Honestly, if the issue comes down to Cullen taking away the spot, then it wouldn't just be Cullen but also Cassandra and Varric who are both returning companions.
3 out of 9 characters being known (one previous companion, 2 previous NPCs) really isn't so bad, in my opinion.
