I'm playing a saarabas my first playthrough.  And, like when I have mages romance Fenris, I may have decided who I'm pushing towards in my first playthrough.

 

Unless I find someone I like better, someone unexpected.

Depends on what you think it means, I guess.

 

It seems to me to confirm that Ellis is back as Cullen and that Cullen is a major character (either companion or NPC) and that Cullen is probably going to be an LI.  Your mileage may vary, though, since people are making all kinds of interpretations.

Seems just as likely he was joking around, since he has that kind of personality.

The more I think about it the more I think Cullen was written by Jen before she left, since we haven't heard anything about what she wrote (that's if she wrote a companion at all)

 

It says on her linkedin that she wrote one major follower/LI for Inquisition.

I'd be ecstatic, since it would mean we'll have 6 LI's and makes it incredibly likely that either Iron Bull or Varric will be a romance option. I want to finally see some non Human/Elven LI's, and 6 LI's would be fantastic.

I crack up every time I hear the hate flame towards Cullen since we still don't know much.  We don't know if he is a companion or an NPC or if he is an LI or it is just flirting.  I would think that if he is recording sexy lines that it would not really be towards another companion since we don't really get an in depth glimpse of their relationships unless it is banter during walking around.  To those who are mad if he takes an MLI slot, we don't know if he will.  He may be a female LI only since Bioware tends to have at least one exclusive male LI and one female LI.  To so far have been recording 20 hrs. of VO is a pretty big chunk of dialogue.  I am happy to see him included in any way he is.  He is also not a returning companion.  Varric is since he was a companion in DA2 but Cullen has only ever been an NPC and what we have seen of him has been very minor.  I would like to see how the events of DA:O and DA2 have shaped him.  I am happy for those who really wanted him.

I'm not interested in Iron Bull or Varric, so it's just conflict of interest, I guess. I just think it sucks that the "hetero" interest would be the most popular choice AGAIN, but I guess I wouldn't be surprised, which is why I always dreaded going back to assigned sexualities to begin with.

I don't think that there is enough evidence either way to even begin to speculate about who Cullen will be making sexy talk with.  We've no indications that they are going back to "assigned sexualities" (*even though I point out that DA2 also had assigned sexualities......) and, if they do, we have no indication that Cullen is going to be a female only romance.

Is this in response to my post?  If so, we can speculate we just don't know which speculation is correct until they tell us.  Of course people are going to speculate.  If we didn't then BSN would only have crickets chirping in most of the DA:I threads.  It is fun to speculate and see which you got correct and which you were way off base on.  That is just my opinion though.

If Cullen is a romance option I would be about 75% sure he'd be female only, since in Origins he expressed interest in a female mage but not a male one. 

 

Obviously it doesn't say anything for certain, but if they were going to add 6 LI's and female/male only romance options Cullen being the female only male LI seems like the obvious choice.

My view has always been that as long as everyone has an equal number of options there is no problem in making some romance paths dependant on gender.
