Personally I can see Cullen being Bi, that's just my opinion! I just hope this means he's a companion/LI but if I am no doubt reading too much into we will see.

If they do the 6 LI thing, (which I do hope they do), I hope he is bisexual. While I personally will be romancing him with a female Inquisitor, Cullen still has male fans who will want to romance him, as well as a few female fans who I know for a fact will want to romance him with a male Inquisitor. Also, it would be great to have a great character like Cullen who also isn't as promiscuous a birthday cake share my sexuality.

If Cullen is a romance option I would be about 75% sure he'd be female only, since in Origins he expressed interest in a female mage but not a male one.
Obviously it doesn't say anything for certain, but if they were going to add 6 LI's and female/male only romance options Cullen being the female only male LI seems like the obvious choice.
Anders also only talked about being interested in women in Awakening, so 75% seems like a really high end guess.
It doesn't even mean there will be 6 interests. There could only by 5, since there were 5 in DA2 with Sebastian only being for females. They never promised balance.
I really don't see a greater chance of Varric being a bisexual choice than Cullen either, though, so I doubt Cullen being hetero would open a slot for Varric. Cullen seems more likely to be bisexual than Varric, since Varric has a solid history of a relationship with a woman and Cullen just had a brief crush.

I LOVE speculation. I just think that speculation can lead to issues when people start stating opinion as fact, that's all. At this point, we know:
* They weren't planning on expanding resources on romances (take that however you want)
* Gaider wrote two LI's
* Cullen's VA suggested that he recorded romance dialogue
I'm not convinced that we are getting 6 LI's since that would go against the statement that they aren't expanding resources on romances. I'm expecting 4 LI's. Since Gaider has indicated that he would prefer to do all bisexual companions in lieu of any group of players not receiving equal options, I'm predicting that it's going to be 4 bisexual LI's.
I'm not going to be surprised if Cullen ends up being bisexual. It's the same as Anders. People assumed that he was straight, but he wasn't. The same could very easily be true for Cullen.
Either way, it's going to be an interesting few months on BSN......

YAYS!!!!!! Im happy he's going to be in the game! Companion or not i just hope i can get him to turn into a stuttering mess. XD...but i think it would be cruel (and a little funny) to the cullen fans out there, to have him in all 3 games not as a companion, would be the perfect tease. ![]()

According to this http://dragonage.wik...tion_Screenshot a new companion is going to be revealed later this month.
Crossing my fingers its Cullen.
They've said before that they're going to announce a new character each month on a Friday late in the month. I wouldn't necessarily count on it being Cullen, though. There are others they've already released more information on. I have a feeling Cullen and the other more debated characters will be held for last.

I think that with the Dalish imagery they've been posting, it's most likely going to be Solas confirmed for this month. Just my two cents, though.

Or maybe we'll get a good look at a Dalish Inquisitor?!

There isn't really anything to point to him being bisexual. He only gets nervous around the female mage in Origins and stammers talking about the "young ladies" at the Blooming Rose. That's not to say he couldn't be bi in DAI. They pulled it with Anders. He never gave any indication he was bi in Awakenings, but suddenly was in DA2.
I'm bisexual and I LOVE bisexual and LGBT characters but it kinda takes away from the realness of the game if EVERY LI is bisexual. I mean, sometimes you don't always have your love requited. I'd kinda feel like it was out of left field if Cullen was suddenly into guys when he's shown absolutely no indication of it before now. I'd find it slightly insulting, actually.
Sexual preference is not something that changes suddenly upon a person's whim.

They should stick with the playersexual route. That way the most possible people are happy.

More than likely he's already planning his follow-up to "Hard in Hightown"...
I'm trying to think of a Circle is bondage joke, but all I can think of is 'The Templar Comes and Watches.'

And for the record, I have never been a Cullen-mancer but even I thumbs-upped this news. (Assuming its legit.)
Might work well with my intended first playthrough. Even if it doesn't, failure can be a spice of life.

When I saw people back in the day wondering about if Cullen was going to appear again, I had to go to the wiki to remind myself of just who he was because I had forgotten him completely. I guess he just wasn't that memorable for me.
Sorry.

Am I the only one who doesn't look at this as some sort of big personality trait? I see it more as gameplay mechanic/options. If you want to romance char X - You can.
I don't see it as "Oooh If other players somewhere in the world romanced all these LIs now they all have this big bisexual flags over their heads".

He hasn't exactly shown much straight inclination either, aside from a brief dialogue with a female mage in DAO. A pretty good chunk of players never got that scene and Cullen is a pretty blank slate otherwise, I think.

I suppose you're right. It's likely all the LIs will be playersexual. I just think it's slightly unrealistic to be playing a gay guy or girl and have every person you're interested in be interested back but I have to remember it's a fantasy game. If that's the case though, my female warden should've been able to romance Morrigan, and she couldn't. ![]()

Everyone isn't interested in you, though. There are only going to be 4-6 people in the whole world that are available as romances. That they're the same romances for everyone doesn't equate to everyone in the game being willing to sleep with you.

As you said, Anders in DAA only hinted at an attraction to women, but he was bisexual in DA2.There isn't really anything to point to him being bisexual. And Kaidan in ME1 only hinted at an attraction to female Shepard, but he was bisexual in ME3.
It wouldn't be unprecedented for the same thing to happen to Cullen in DAI.
Not in the real world, no.Sexual preference is not something that changes suddenly upon a person's whim.
But this isn't the real world, it's a video game - the primary purpose of which is to entertain.
I don't see how denying a portion of the fan base access to content they really want achieves anything.
As for my personal opinion on Greg Ellis' Tweets - it seems very odd to me that Bioware would allow a companion and a LI they haven't even begun to tell us about yet be revealed by the VA on Twitter. I would definitely suggest people temper their excitement until proper confirmation either way arrives.
That said, assuming Ellis' information does mean what it seems to mean, I would be happy to have Cullen in the game. I like the character, and after spending two games interacting with him, I'm quite curious to see how he has developed.
And I have to admit, I'm glad to see some enthusiasm on this forum for once. People shouldn't be ridiculed or made to feel bad for liking a character.

While they've said they're not going to pander to fans, a wise businessman balances between his vision and his fans' wishes. It wouldn't surprise me if they saw how popular he was and wrote a role for him. DAI looks like a good one for having lots of mages and templars, why bother writing someone new?

It would surprise me, because Gaider explicitly stated on his Tumblr that he would never include a previous character in a game purely because of fan interest. You say: why bother writing someone new? A counterargument might be: why include old characters with old-character baggage, personalities, motivations if you don't have to?
If - since - Cullen is in this game, that is because the writers have found a place for his sort of character and have stories about him that they want to tell, not because "why the hell not, we've got some fanbait lying around".

I'm supposing this was a very early decision, not a recent one.
Considering that Gaider said that Those Who Sleep's Mae was "conceptualized too late to appear in Inquisition" and the comics came out in 2012... I would say... yes. Any companion we have now was the result of an early decision.

It's possible that Cullen's storyline was conceived even longer ago, if they had a general idea of the direction that the series was going. I mean, he's one of the few characters who is going to show up in the main questline of all three games (provided that he's either an agent, advisor, or companion, as we suspect), so they might have thought about a general trajectory for his character back when they made the decision to include him in DA 2.
