Mike Laidlaw = Hakwe
Anyhow, I was thinking (I hate it when that happens), would you like a live adaption of the Dragon Age Universe? If so, what kind of events would play in it?

We already have a Dragon Age movie.

Love it too. ![]()
I'd love one. I'd like to see the events of Origins.
Yeah, I'd love to see Origins as a movie. I've been babbling about this possibility since 2010 lol. I'd want James Cameron to direct it, though.

I loved this movie! I don't know why it got such a bad reception.

Because it is anime, and anime haters are very vocal.
Maybe a movie about DA2 but definitely not one of Origins. Too many variables there.

I agree. Dragon Age 2 has a much better layout for a movie than Origins does.

That's stupid. I'm not even into anime but I thought it was so good. Schmucks. ![]()

I think if done poorly, it could get very confusing. That's why James Cameron would be perfect
it would be executed flawlessly.
DA2 would make it amongst the public more, though, I think at least.

Agreed.
Or Joss Whedon. His work behind the Avengers shows how great he is at taking a bunch of character stories and bringing them together. ![]()
That movie made me facepalm more than I could count while watching it. So no.

Good point
another great artist to put into consideration

Why?
DA games made into a..... movie....?

I do not want either game to be made into a movie. Not when you can create your own protagonist, choose your own choices, and all that jazz.
Now.... a Dragon Age movie totally unrelated to the games? Definitely. I'd love to see a movie version of some things that happened way before the events of either game.
Like maybe the First Blight or something equally as cool.
No! After what they've done to Max Payne, Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat...etc... I don't believe Holywood is capable of making a good movie adaption of any video games. So NO! I much prefer playing the game and being a part of the journey.
If there's to be a Dragon Age movie, I'd rather it not be an adaptation from a story already told in the game. The great thing about the DA universe is that the writers can come up with any number of different stories that can serve as part of the timeline in the same way the books and comics do. We don't need a "Warden" or "Hawke" or "Inquisitor" being given a role in a motion picture. I think these characters are best left as something under the player's influence.
If anything, I wouldn't mind seeing a film about one of the earlier Blights, or maybe even the first.
aren't they making a Mass Effect movie?
I agree with the best option to be have the movie revolve around events not tied to the games.
aren't they making a Mass Effect movie?
Yeah, and I have to say that I don't really care for the prospect of this either. One of the nice things about Mass Effect is that being a series of games that are many hours long, it allows for more subplots here and there that serve as part of the greater whole. Frankly, I think that some stories are not really fit for a motion picture. Perhaps I'm alone here, but if Mass Effect were to be turned into anything, it would probably work a lot better as a serial. Hell, Star Wars: The Clone Wars works infinitely better than the wretched prequel movies, mainly because they're better written, but also because the format allows lots of more development in the characters and allows all the little subplots to play out alongside the overarching one.

If they could pull it off really well, I'd totally support it.
David Gaider talked about Dreamcasting a Live Action Dragon Age movie a while back:

All that said, I probably should also admit that my choices regarding actors probably won’t align with most fans’ ideas. From the lists I’ve seen from time to time, I notice most people focus on actors who are close to the characters in appearance. To me, that’s not very important. You’d think it would be, but nope. If I’m casting Alistair, I’d want someone who could portray Alistair’s amiable goofiness before worrying about his appearance. He could be played by Michael B. Jordan and I’d be cool with it…even if I know there’s a segment of fans who would freak if Alistair had so much as the wrong hair color.
So take my thoughts on roles with a heavy grain of salt. It’s just my opinion, and one that I haven’t given all that much thought to…even if it was kinda fun to consider, regardless of the impossibility. I can definitely see the appeal.

This only because of the inevitable "IT WAS IN THE MOVIE HUR DUR THAT MEANS IT'S CANON!!!" that would pop up everywhere.

I would love a Mass Effect series.
That said, as with Dragon Age if the story of the Mass Effect movie wasn't about Shepard but something like the First Contact War, that could work well.
